FASCINATING SNAKE HOUSE IN MEXICO CITY | QUETZALCOATL'S NEST

  • Welcome to one of the coolest homes I've ever stayed in. We first came across this place on Airbnb, and couldn't believe something so amazing was so close to Mexico City. It is a series of 10 apartments build into the back of a giant serpent. It's the coolest house I've ever seen, if you don't mind living in a snake god.
It was created by Javier Senosiain, a Mexican architect specializing in Organic Architecture. This philosophy of construction blends seamlessly with nature, so they both work together in harmony. This location is called El Nido de Quetzalcoatl (The Nest of Quetzalcoatl) because of the giant snake head that is the centre piece of the location. When Javier first decided to build the park, he came across a giant cave whose opening resembled the gaping mouth of a snake. This inspired him to continue the theme, and great a giant 18 hectare park, with 13 snakes twisting through it. Despite everything he has created here, the valley in which everything is hidden, is vastly untouched. His constructions are guided using the natural shape of the land.
As far as things to do in Mexico, this is an absolute must. I have never seen anything like this in all of my years as a travel vlogger. It is truly an oasis hidden away in Naucalpan, just outside Mexico City.

    TO VISIT:
At this time you have two options. A private tour or staying in the apartment. Our contact for both of these is Patricia. Her email: mopacastillo(at)gmail.com
The easiest, and which that allows you the most freedom is to stay there overnight. It is a 10 person apartment, with a recommended minimum of 2 nights. This can sometimes be negotiated depending on the time of year. Get some friends together and split the cost. It is worth it.

Wow. El Nido de Quetzalcoatl has to be one of the most stunning locations I've ever seen anyone visit on UA-cam. It's gorgeous! I'd never heard of it before, but the way you filmed it and told its story made me want to learn more about it, and visit it someday myself. And I love the concept of organic architecture, which I also had never heard of. It's incredible how many gems like this are hidden around the world, and how so few of us know they're even there. Fascinating. Brilliant content, as usual, Mike!

I didn't understand at first where all the people are until' it was explained in the last part. Still, what a magnificent place. All the more is the artist's vision of building the place. As always, great content Mike.

This place is absolutlet beautiful. From all other videos of different places I have seen, this is truly the most beautiful, harmounous, and in tune with nature place I have ever seen. Feels like a person is stepping into a different dimension. Absolutley stunning.
Makes me love and appreciate the country of my parents birth even more ❤ I am so proud to have indigeanous blood in my veins ❤

I used to go to a music school which was located in an organic architecture house built by Juan O'Gorman (CU central library guy). Not quite like this but a predecessor I would say. It was so cool with all the stone mosaics, no corners and boulders inside the rooms.
