In this Mexico City travel guide for first-timers, I share all the must-visits and the essential travel tips that will make your stay the best it can be! Mexico's capital, CDMX, can be a little overwhelming in terms of the sheer number of things to do, but I'll help you check out the best stuff even if you have limited time available.

I just got back from my first visit to Mexico City and while I didn’t watch this until now, I can say that this is a really good quick guide! One interesting side note that he didn’t mention is that CDMX (Mexico City) is really progressive! Has a great public bikeshare system (like many US cities), bike lanes all over, plastic bags in grocery stores are not allowed, and same sex marriage has been legal for years. I was there for five nights and, after watching this video, I realize I could have stayed for two weeks!
🇲🇽 In my opinion, CDMX is the best capital city of América and one of the best in the whole world. Viva México 🎉🇲🇽🎉
Mm no
@@ALEXANDER-jl1cn Mm Yes

Chilango over here, this is by far the best video of cdmx I have seen. Regarding places to stay you're absolutely right, many people stay in condesa-roma-polanco area, and as a south cdmx resident I think you are missing a lot of beautiful places in the city. as San Angel, Pedregal, CU, bosque de pedregral, bosque de tlalpan. So, you can also consider coyoacan as a great place to stay. :) welcome to our city!!!!!
Thank you and yeah fair point! I aimed this at first time visitors who almost always stay in those two tourist areas. Some of the areas you mention I don't know yet and will consider next time! I love San Angel and Coyoacan
2nd museum tip is spot on!! Absolutely amazing handcraft and display of indigenous, national artistry!
So much culture in Mexico City! One of my favorite go to places to get away.
Loved that you used the term "hipstery" to describe La Condesa & Roma!
Thank you for this. Your video has been the most helpful in planning for our trip!
This was fantastic. Thank you!
Thank you for your video! It is one of the best I could found about Mexico!
This video beautifully captures the essence of Mexico City! 🌆 The vibrant colors, bustling streets, and rich cultural heritage make it a truly captivating destination. From the historic landmarks like the Zócalo and the stunning architecture of the Palacio de Bellas Artes to the mouthwatering street food and lively markets, Mexico City offers a unique and unforgettable experience.
This video helped so much with planning my trip to Mexico. Thank you! 👍
This was so informative and to the point!
Amazing video, thank you.
Good information. I appreciate that you were to the point and only gave facts. Keep up the good work.
An interesting and enjoyable walk. I felt like I was in Mexico City and it makes me want to visit myself. Thanks for the share from a new subscriber. 🙏❤️👍
Wow, this guide is incredibly comprehensive! 🌎🇲🇽 The insights into Mexico City's museums, especially the Anthropological Museum, make me want to book a flight right away. The local perspective on where to stay is valuable, and I love the suggestion to explore beyond the typical tourist spots. Also, thanks for the practical tips on getting around and using the local SIM card. It's clear you put a lot of effort into this guide. Looking forward to more travel tips from you! 🛫✨
You should really visit the Antropologia museum in CDMX! Couple it with a visit to Chapultepec park and Castle, thats one day. You will love the amount of culture, artifacts etc. displayed :)
Thank you for sharing and for all the great tips
Thanks! This is great. And very comprehensive.
Thank you for this informative video. I'll be there next month and I can't wait!
Have a great trip!
Tremendous Capital City!. Visitors quickly realize of the history, traditions, and culture. Wonderful architecture, art and delicious gastronomy. Mexico City is just fascinating, to much to explore and discover
Mexico, the country has the largest number of world heritage sites recognized by UNESCO in the Americas!
Nice vid!
Thank you for this very informative video. Super great. Loved it. I'll be visiting Mexico for the first time this December. Will start off my journey in Mexico City. Looking forward to this trip :)
Have an awesome trip!

Just watched your Mexico City travel guide, and I'm blown away! The museum recommendations are spot-on, and the insights into neighborhoods and transportation are super helpful. Ready to explore CDMX armed with these awesome tips! 👍🌆
Cool video thanks for your tips !!
Awesome video. Happy to have found your channel recently. Your style reminds me of back in the day watching Rick Steve’s on PBS. Thanks.
If I can channel just 1% of what Rick Steve does I'll be happy ;) Thanks for watching!
This is great! Thank you so much.
The lady shaking her head at you while eating tacos 🌮 was hilarious 😂😂😂
Yeah she does not approve of vloggers 😅
I also caught that and also cackled hahaha
Pensé que nadie había notado eso pero si hahahaha
Thx! Going to CDMX soon, this helps!
I visited six weeks ago but just now seeing this. Really enjoyed the video and feel you do a great job!
I would add that the castle at the top of Chapultepec Park is now the Nstional History Museum. The Palacio de Bellas Artes is also stunning with numerous murals by all the Mexican masters. The glass curtain on the performance stage was commissioned by Louis Tiffany in 1912 (think that was the year). It's incredible. Thanks for some great tips for my next visit to CDMX.
Nice job! We are frequent visitors to Mexico City and I can attest to the quality of info you provide here. After having stayed in several areas - I would not recommend staying in Centro. We stayed in the Gran Hotel (James Bond Spectre) one time. It was beautiful, and right on the Zocalo - but the area was dead and a bit sketchy at night. Perhaps a happy middle ground is Juarez - an easy walk to Centro and the restaurants of Roma. Another good area is Navarte - just south of Roma (cheaper and more locals). For museums, I would also recommend the Museo Nacional De Arte (MUNAL) - in Centro. A gorgeous building and they get some great visiting exhibitions (we saw a Caravaggio there). We also loved the Contemporary Art museum at the university (UNAM). Good luck with your channel - you are on the right track!
Great tips! Also loved UNAM... couldn't include everything 😄
Thank you! Great guide
Agreed - some amazing footage too.
Mexico DF tomorrow morning. Thanks!
thanks for this!
Great video, I really like your style of video making. you should keep it up.
Gran vídeo
Thank you for your video! Liked and subbed!
Beautiful video cultural from Mexico City
Really great and informative video!
S o much to do in the city - and we agree , a great video.
Marek, you channel is seriously underrated. Great video quality, great tips and info and so little subs and views. But it's a matter of time for them to grow. Quality content will help. Cheers and good luck. I do follow you from the blog
Thank you, I appreciate your comment! The algorithms work in mysterious ways, but I'm just happy to be making videos 😄
Nice clip!
Very nice video! Viva Mexico & CDMX! You mentioned the Museo Dolores Olmedo but . . . it has been closed for years due to COVID. When did you film this video? Gracias!
Yeah, that recommendation was based on a previous visit several years ago. The voiceover originally said it was closed during my visit in 2023 but that bit got cut
The Popular Arts museum is definitely one of the bests.
Great
Magnificent information cultural
Espero regreses pronto!!! I hope you come back soon!!!3🇲🇽🙋🏼🎉
Voy a regresar pronto seguro! :D
Nice video!
Love love your filming style.
Would love to hang out if you are still around!

Great video. Very informative. If time is not an issue, how many days would you recommend to stay in Mexico? Enough to see the must sees, must dos and must eats…or enough to experience everything mentioned in this video. Thanks a lot, looking forward to your reply.
I would say 5 days is a pretty good minimum for a pretty full experience including 1 or 2 day trips
Thank u man

Very nice😍❤️👌🏻
México City is incredibel 👍
I'm making plans to visit CDMX in Sept for my birthday. I was there many years ago and have wanted to go back so am giving it to myself as a birthday gift. I had already decided to stay in Condesa as it looks to be close to the things I want to see and close to a large park. How long would you recommend to stay?
Thank you for this review, it is so helpful as I am going to Mexico City in the summer, I cannot wait to get there. It looks stunning and I love how much there is to do and see!
My last stop will be in Oaxaca, does anyone have any advice about Aeromexico airlines? I have read bad reviews about it but would like to know of any other opinions as I will be flying with them back to Mexico City.
the city is running out of water. keep that in mind during your visit. you may have limited access to clean running water.
Excelente
Great Video !! Next time visit CHIMALISTAC and SAN ANGEL neighborhoods ( very charming) Go to the iconic SOUMAYA museum, If you love Huge and Modern Parks PARQUE LA MEXICANA is the one, Don´t miss CASTILLO DE CHAPULTEPEC ( the only one Royal Castle in the Americas )
Nice tips, I've been to some of those but not all. I'll be back in CDMX soon so will check out what I've missed! :)
I'love Mexico ❤❤❤❤❤❤
In Australia we use bore water for irrigation of the front garden but perhaps if filtered, it can be used for drinking?
No, dont drink it. Hands, teeth are ok, locals dont drink tap water ever. If you want to drink water use bonafont, epura, ciel, commercial brands you can find in supermarkets.
Instead of Torre Latinoamericana, I recommend saving the 250 Pesos and go to Restaurant Bellini, South of Condesa, to enjoy the same view with a beer and with much less tourists.
My family born in cdmx I love going been going for the last 25 years🇲🇽
Great material❤ BBVA ATM are the most expensive 10 USD others are 60 pesos
BBVA is practically a scam!
Thank you so much for this video! The most useful one I have found for our trip. Did you find public transportation (bus/train) easy to use there? Do you need to get tickets in advance? Thank you!
I've only taken coach buses to reach places outside the capital. They're fantastic and pre-buying tickets for these is optional. I've not taken inner city buses - I prefer using ridehailing for this which is cheap and plentiful in CDMX. The metro is decent, though often very crowded and sometimes the signage is lacking, so I found it helpful to have a metro map on my phone. For longer distances in the city the metro is very useable, for shorter distances I found taxis/ridehailing very practical. Have fun :)
Passenger rail service (I mean trains, not metro) is very limited in Mexico btw and usually not worth it.
I have been to Mexico City back in 1980. It just reminded me of where I live in Los Angeles. Crowded! I really loved Guadalajara, Mexico it was so beautiful and green back at the time. My niece just flew back from Guadalajara, and she loved it. She showed me pictures and I cannot believe how much it has grown. She and her boyfriend who has family there want to buy a house in GDL. Los Angeles is way too expensive to live for young couples. But I told her if she moves out there, I have a place to visit once in a while. She says there are many Hi-Tech companies out there and it is growing for that reason. When I went there in 1980, there were not that many high-rise buildings but now It looks like either New York or Los Angeles. Pretty amazing.
Hey
As long as you're recommending pre-columbian and Rivera/Kahlo museums, you can do both if you drop a visit to the Anahuacalli museum . Is the house studio Diego Rivera built in the style of an aztec temple. Today houses his personal collection of prehispanic pieces.
Good tip!
I was born in Mexico City 🇲🇽 ❤️❤️😍😍😍 I can’t wait to go back and really fell like home 🤔🤔 I hate the laws in California 🇺🇸🤮
Why you gonna go back? There’s nothing there for you lol you’re gonna want to come back in a week
@@waitwhat3353because it’s cheaper lol she’ll live a decent life
I think you are way better than Rick Steves. And you can pronounce Spanish words!
My pronounciation isn't always correct but I try!
You also missed Chapultepec, Xochiomilco, san Ángel, Coyoacan.
All those except San Angel are featured in the video 😁
Nice
Me gusta ❤❤❤
Navigating Mexico's metro is a piece of cake after London or Paris
In 2024 February 16 I will be in Mexico city for the first time for a week. Open to any suggestions. Thanks.
bravo
Good vidéo. CDMX is huge… I lived in Tokyo, so hopefully I’ll find my way in this wonderful city.
Regarding public transportation… why does everybody says it’s when you are on a budget?!? It’s often the best on many aspects. Indeed, it’s saving friendly but it’s also environmental friendly and respectful to your environment.
Cars aren’t private… they are using roads and bridges that are immensely more expensive than subways and trams…
In the end, like it is in Tokyo, a wealthy city is not when poor people can afford their own cars but when rich people uses public transportation…
True, I'm a fan of public transit too, though the metro in CDMX is sadly nothing like the metro in Tokyo. Delays, cancellations, and extreme crowds are common, so for a tourist it can be more practical to take a taxi...
Can you help me to join a language and culture study in some university in Mexico City?
🇲🇽😎
Thank you for the tips...us Mexico City safe for single travelling women?
In the more touristy/affluent areas, yes
If you live in San Diego and flying out of tijuana change your dollars in San Ysidro it pays a little more than Tijuana
Really?
Thanks
Beutiful i like it
The Museo Dolores Olmedo has been closed since the pandemic and they don't know when it will re-open.
Should I convert my cash to Mexican currency or keep USD? Is it credit card friendly?
It's good to have some local currency. There's a part about this near the end of the video
The capital
Try to Visit El Pedregal.. SAN Angel. Las LOMAS. And CD Satélite too much History Cultura milenarium
Thanks. Very help. I'm 74 years young. I resided one year in Tijuana in 2014 and since 2015, reside in Puebla until now and have only seen CDMX from over the air or from the Bus going to the main airport. Puebla is the 4th largest city, only about 60 miles to the south of CDMX but will go the US Embassy and will go by myself. I live in the center of Puebla. I learnt enough Spanish to use the language to be comfortable with it and use it most of the time. I imagine there are may like me (US Navy veteran living on a modest pension). I go twice a year north to go to the VA Hospital in La Jolla, California. De nuevo... gracias. RT West, Ave 2 PNTE, PUE PUE, México.
Hello
22M people? I thought it was only 10M 😅
The difference is probably main city vs metropolitan area :)

MEXICO CITY 🇲🇽
The oldest capital of North America and the Americas.
(Mexico-Tenochtitlan)
Historical capital of four political entities:
Capital of the Aztec Empire
Capital of the Viceroyalty of New Spain.
Capital of the first Mexican Empire
Capital of the Mexican Republic
Nicknamed by the conquerors the Venice of the new world.
Mexico City, the second city with the most museums in the world, has the Chapultepec Castle, the only real castle in America that is inhabited by emperors.
In addition to the Bosque de Chapultepec, which is three times bigger than Central Park in New York.
The Paseo de la Reforma is considered the second most beautiful avenue in the world, after the Champs Elysees in Paris.
The capital has a legacy that combines pre-Hispanic, colonial and modern architecture, making Mexico City a cosmopolitan city.
The old Mexico-Tenochtitlán, capital of the Aztec Empire, has been transformed into "Mexico City".
The metropolis of Latin America.

What do you think of female solo travel there?
I have met quite a few solo women in cdmx and it's a pretty safe destination for it. But read tips about e.g. taking taxis at night, nightlife, using the metro & neighborhoods to avoid.
