- In today's video I will be giving you an all-in-one guide to beat saber modding, whether you want to mod on Quest 3, Quest 2, Quest Pro or even Quest 1, this tutorial will be for you. It will show you how to mod Beat Saber on Quest Stajdalone so that you can install your favourite custom songs into the game, as well as give you a built-in Song Downloader. The process is a bit different on the Quest 3 now and BMBF currently does not work on it. So hopefully, this video can help you out! I hope you enjoy :D

As a first time VR user and for anyone that may not know - if installing SideQuest for the first time, install the ADVANCED version, not the easy install version! I was running into all sorts of problems, and doing this solved all of them! Hope this helps someone!

I got into VR just last week with my quest 3, I liked this game but wasnt sure about getting it since the songs that are included or expansion packs are not of my like but this sold me to it, thank you!
Thanks for that. It's really disappointing that we have to resort to such methods. The game's built-in song choices are terrible/overpriced, and dealing with mods is a constant battle. It would be nice if BeatSaber collaborated with the modding community to facilitate the approval of custom songs and allow curators to get paid inc. the distribution of royalties similar to a Spotify subscription model.

Dude honestly the idea that you could find ANY song and have the chart immediately cuz of a subscription is awesome they should’ve done that but ship sailed passed by island and made it back home . The fact they release so much add ons that don’t even have fan favorite songs uncensored is crazy. The panic at disco is trashhhhhhh so is the fall out boy but if they would’ve added wayyyy older songs I would’ve bought them lol
Official beatsaber mapping is terrible the base sabers are terrible, it has to be modded to be played at a good level

Thanks for the quick guide! Using mods on beat saber on quest 3 is supper annoying! Getting spammed by meta policy about moding, have to start the game 5 times to finally being able to play. I hope the community will find a workaround about this!

@@badjobba it does yeah, for Q3 you have to follow instructions. Dont use quest 2 sideloading method.

OculusDB might have worked before but now it says that it is currently not possible to download apks directly from OculusDB. so what do i do?

Good video Mysticle. Will try this one on my new Quest 3.
One thing to point out though is that saying that you don’t need a PC to run the mods can be a bit misleading as I though you didn’t need one to actually mod Beat Saber. Si when you mentioned that you need the PC to be running SideQuest, I got confused. Then went back and to that point and got the message. But hey, that’s just me.
Nice tutorial on modding! One of the best ones currently on UA-cam.
Updates for Quest 3 are in the making so you can mod it completely without an PC. The modders are currently developing a new modloader with lots of improvements over the current one which will be used on all Quest headsets once it's done. For that modloader the modding tools need to get updated. QuestPatcher and QAVS are already updated and are just waiting for the modloader to be ready. As for BMBF, that'll probably take a bit longer. But QAVS will be a perfect replacement.
There's currently no estimate when the modloader will be done.

I would like to clarify something for others like me who share the same mental capacity as a can of sardines. You actually have download and install (the advanced version of) Sidequest for it to recognize the headset when you plug it in. As for those who can confidently say they can beat an African Bullfrog in a game of Chess: Yes, I was trying to use the website version for at least an hour...

Great video! Quick question - I recently bought Beat Saber with the Lady Gaga pack addon for my Quest 3. Will downgrading the app result in the deletion of the DLC songs? I bought the game via the app on my phone (not Steam).

Im signed into my meta account but the oculusdb link just gives me a 404 error when I try to download 1.28
One month old already outdated because OcculusDB won't let us download old versions now. Rough.
if you follow instructions on oculusDB they tell you how to do it otherwise and everything else in this tutorial is fine

Every time i click "download latest modable version" I get a popup asking if i want to download, but when i press yes it just pops up another dialogue that says "please read before asking why downgrading isnt working" but no download begins at all.
I am signed into oculus in the same browser on my desktop. is there something I am missing?
same thing happened to me, i dont know what to do and i tried everything
@@_MagicCube88_ my problem was that i was doing this on desktop and they (Meta) no longer serve download keys to desktop for developers even if you have payed for the title. You have to do so within the device itself through quest app version switcher, available through sidequest. hope this helps.

I noticed alot of somgs are only experts from what ive searched. That will definitely be a bit much for my family to play on. Any tips?
General questions, but crucial:
1) Does it mean that after modding I will not be able to upgrade anymore? What if new functionalities will be officially created in the future?
2) If I back-up my progress before modding, will I be able to load my progress again?
3) Is it possible after modding to play songs I bought in standard way inside of game?
4) Is it possible to play online after modding in official groups?

I did modding successfully, but I do not recommend to the others. Too much effort and old version causes that you will loose additionally bought packages, can not play online. Sometimes restart of application is needed, always have to confirm warning about not allowed modding and songs are not so perfect as I thought. Most of them only on Expert level, some are cracked. I will play some songs just for fun and I will return back to original copy (hoping it will work and my backup will be loaded).
I have quest 3 so I have to do the quest loader thing bit when I download it instead of being the beatsaber one its gorilla tag. What am I dping wrong.
Does anyone know where to get the version 1.28 apk file for Beat Saber? The method in this video doesn't work, and neither does using Quest Patcher. If someone could direct me to literally the file on the internet that would be great.

oculusdb says i can't do it anymore, what can i do? ("So, why can’t you downgrade games on OculusDB right now? In the beginning of December 2023 Oculus changed how authentication for game downloads work. This means that you cannot download games anymore with the account on the Oculus developer page.")
this helped my tremendously but i will say i recommend using a program called "quest app version switcher" if you are modding on quest 3 and trying to downgrade to version 1.28. you can download the program through sidequest. after this, skip to the section of the video regarding "quest patcher" and you are good to go.
Also, I notice now that I'm modded that this is the quest 2 version of the game. That means that the resolution of the game is lower, the textures are worse and the refresh rate is stuck at 90hz. I know this is probably only an issue for now, but if anyone knows a fix or graphics enhancement, please let me know.

I currently have a quest 2 and was thinking about upgrading to another vr headset which allows for better pc gaming. Right now I have been stuck between the vive pro 2 and the valve index and I was hoping you would have some insight into what one to get (or if there are any even better options).
If you already have Quest 2, I don't think the Index will be meaningfull upgrade for PCVR. I had both, and TBH Index have better FOV and refresh rate (if your pc can handle it) but have noticably worse resolution. Overall comfort is very goog, but unleass you can find it very cheap I don't think it's meaningfull upgrade. I've just traded my Quest 2 for 3, and depending on experience i expect to be getting rid of my Index, as the only reason for me to keep it with Quest 2 was controllers and wider interpupilary support.
I just wish more people got into Audica, easily my favorite rhythm VR game aside from Thumper

Hi - I have a quest 3 and downloaded quest patcher from your link but there was an error for the core mods page - is there another link for these elsewere ?
At first, it worked wonderfully, but since today, it's not working anymore. The modded BeatSaber version won't start, and I end up back in the Quest main menu.

Hello there Mr Mymticle, folk say you are a bit of a VR tinkerer so I have a question that maybe some of your fans can answer shortly.
At my Home I have the old DK2, it came with one base-station that was made to track the headset, but would it be possible to use that old tracker to track my Oculus Quest 2 controllers in my room to guide my Quest when the controllers are located where the Quest can't see them? Or can that be turned into a foot, knee hip tracker?
i don't think this is possible unfortunately, quest 2 has a very different tracking system than the dk2. maybe keep searching to see if someone has tried this? would be very cool if it even is possible

BMBF is pretty simple, but Im not sure for the quest 3. Id recommend putting the files for the songs in folders anf using those as playlists. Sorry!
i have the problem that i cant use oculus DB to downgrade beatsaber because Meta changed their authentification methods. can anyone help me please ?
you can still download it the correct patch buy downgrading your beatsaber in quest app switcher in the headset, it will install the correct one for you. Ignore DB, continue the tutorial and open quest app switcher on your pc with the quest connected and install your mods. And boom, done.
I’ve been able to add the modded version of the game but when I try to add songs from BMFB they don’t appear in the game after syncing
Does the current versions of Beat Saber on Quest 3, have updated graphics? If so, if I revert the game back to an older version, I would assume the graphics won't be as good?

im having a bit of a problem.. oculusdb says that i cant download the apk because of a meta quest update, and that i have to use oculusversionswitcher or whatever its called.
I'm just waiting for BMBF to update to a current version of Beat Saber so I don't have to bother with downgrading.
Im on MacBook Pro and when I try to download the latest version of Beat Saber it sends me to a website that is just blank/white and I've tried almost everything and it won't work. Any tips to help me?
