I have the Summilux FLE I, APO-Summicron (close-focus version), Summaron f/2.8 (w/goggles), Voigtländer Nokton f/1.2 (v. 1), and a Nikon W-Nikkor.C f/3.5 LTM. The APO-Summicron is my favorite. The Summilux FLE I is 2nd. Are you still selling your FLE II?
Agreed with that. Try the Nikkor 50 f1.4 for the 50’s. I’m going to do a review about that lens. Super small and has close focus. Incredible bokeh. 23 blades aperture. That lens was too early for its time.
Have you used the current Voigtlander 35mm f1.5 Nokton? I bought it to see if I liked the 35mm pov and because it was virtually the same size as the Leica Summicron. I suspect it’s all I need in a 35mm but I wondered if you thought there was any advantage in the Leica lens?
I own it and that lens just like the 50 Nokton are incredible options. Small, light, fast, well built, super fluid focus ring, affordable. I shoot a lot with Voigtlander. I don’t think this lens is better or worse. The summicron tops at f2 where as the Nokton is faster. In many scenarios I would prefer the Nokton, for example for travel, so I can be covered in low light situations as well and have the added light gathering/ shallower depth of field.
Of course a camera will lean forward with a heavier lens! What's the obsession with this issue? There is no *BEST* lens for street photography. There are several that are very suitable to match one's approach to the subject. .. and wallet.
uh, $1800 for a 35 summicron asph is a ridiculous steal; bordering on scam territory. and a 35 steel rim reissue for $2400??? Where on Earth are you based???
eBay. When you see the make offer button that’s where this deal can happen. I’ve been buying my lenses that way. The other day I lost a bid for the Apo 75 f2. Winning bid was $875 on a lens that cost like 5K new
@@GastonShutters I've never ever come close to an experience like that at all on eBay - at least in AU. is this just a US thing??? btw - I absolutely agree with you about the summicron; as much as the FLE is a legendary lens amongst legendary lenses; the size and weight of it relative to the body just makes it not as enjoyable as the cron as a daily driver for street/travel photography. The steel rim is certainly interesting; but I'm hesitant because of the documented QC issues.
I watch the auctions. 95% 9f them I lose them but those I nail, are worth the hassle. The steel rim is a great lens. Mine needed adjustments. Other than that flawless.
An early 1990's Summicron F2 non-aspherical lens is superb particularly matched with Tri-x film can't be beaten for street photography/social documentary and are readily affordable on the second hand market.
Which one is your favorite 35mm lens?
@@GastonShutters the New Summilux 35 f1.4. That you mentioned in the video that you want to sell it.

I have a few Leica 35 mm lenses . The one I enjoy using is my Summaron F2.8. It really does have that vintage look which I love and it is in silver.
That’s a sweet lens. And silver lenses with black bodies is a sweet combination.
I bought the 35 lux II and absolutely love it, but the summicron keeps calling me for its tiny size.
Agreed with that. Try the Nikkor 50 f1.4 for the 50’s. I’m going to do a review about that lens. Super small and has close focus. Incredible bokeh. 23 blades aperture. That lens was too early for its time.
@@GastonShutters I've got the Voigtlander 50 f1.2 and it's great, but quite big
I have it too and agreed. But lighter than the Noctilux, closer focus, and sharper at f1.2 oh and cheaper!
I have the Nikon 40mm 2.8.
😍

@@gonzoexpress9885 thanks for the tip
The Summilux steel rim, re-issue is seriously overpriced and fraught with inexcusable design and quality control issues. It's crap.
I have to agreed with price and quality issues. I had to send mine to have the aperture adjusted. …
Thought the 35 f1.4 Nokton Classic single coated was similar to the steel rim.
Haven’t compared them
@@ofeykalakar1it is, more vignetting. Slightly different colour rendition but SLIGHT. Thing flares like crazy though
