I am new to 3D printing never before have I even seen a 3D printer , then while shopping at Micro Center my son and I decided to purchase one each Ender 3 s1 printers that where on sale ,went home and set it up very quickly no issues. Bed leveling and nozzle adjustments went quick and smooth no issues got it on first try. My first print was the cat, an stl file that came with my printer WOW it turned out great I impressed so I downloaded Cura and found something else to print this was all just 3 weeks ago and so far I have gone thru about 4lbs of filament printing all kinds of cool stuff. I am 68 years old so not a young savvy guy to technology but this has all turned out to be a great hobby in my retirement. I am about to purchase another 3D printer with a larger print base so I can print bigger things. This has all been a great experience so happy I got an Ender 3 s1
I love 3D printing I just purchased another printer the Ender3 s1 plus it has a 300mm x 300mm print bed set it up and was printing within 1 hour after getting it home ...3D printing has opened up a whole new experience for me.

Can I print actual usable parts? Or just toys? I want to print kart parts for racing
@@matthewahmhllc23 can probably print guards that last a quarter of a race. If it's not going to impact stuff just print it with 100% infill and it'll last. you're talking about go kart racing? Are you in 6th grade? You probably need to just go to a machinist or fabricator for kart parts. They can make fiberglass and other parts.
@@matthewahmhllc23 only person I know who did kart racing was in 6th grade. They aren't doing nascar now but they do something else. Wing racing or something
@Religion is a poison 🩸 my son races and has since he was 4 he is now 7. My daughter races she is 5 I race karts I'm 35 my dad still races karts he is 56. I have a couple 3d printed parts already but they are mainly connectors and non load bearing parts. I'm really leaning towards buying a cnc mill instead and using magnesium .

It starts with one….then two…and then a print farm! It’s the most complimentary hobby to have with drones. I’m up to three printers and into part designs too along with lighted signs and just about everything else. It’s a hobby that can quickly dishearten people since there are a lot of other factors that can make prints fail. I’m hooked now. Best thing I’ve ever started doing.

It's a hobby that quickly takes control lol I also have 3 printers, constantly wanting to upgrade or modify them or something, it's always something. Definitely a hobby that is worth it though. Even if you don't use it to compliment another hobby having one around is priceless. Being able to (poorly) design something I need around the house and have it printed within an hour in most cases is amazing. It gives a form of satisfaction rather than going out and buying the item (if you can) as well.
Would recommend to anyone.

Basics of modeling, you start of with a sketch, you extrude that sketch, can make sketches on extruded surfaces and use unite and subtract to have them interact. Once your happy you can use, edge blend/fillet and a couple other things to make it look pretty and there you go

I got into 3D printing roughly 2 years ago, testing a Ultimaker 3 for work and later buying my own Ender 5. Its a really fun hobby and you can make and learn a lot from it!
I'm actually looking at the Ender 3 S1 myself to replace my Ender 5 as it's got a lot more advantages

@@marksvideochannel3592 I'm not sure about the S1, but the standard Ender 5 had a lot of issues that I had to work around.
In my case the Ender 3 S1 is ideal, and it offers a lot better quality of life features, and a smaller footprint for nearly the same print volume that mine had.
If you wish to get the Ender 5 S1 you can, just make sure you do a lot of research and make sure thats the machine that is right for you :)

OMG dude!! U R my hero!! I just recently jumped into the 3d printing scene, got my ender 3 S1 pro, and was having so much trouble because I, too was following everybody's advice and had the print head too low. I raised up the print head, and now it's working like a charm! Thanks for pointing that out.
I have the Ender 3 S1 and saw this comment, raised the head and my prints started turning out better! Not perfect, but better

I have an Ender 3, and have an S1 on order, pretty much for every upgrade it has. I am looking forward to printing in a wide range of plastics. It's definitely moving in the right direction but there is still a lot to know about printing that takes some time investment to learn, and to troubleshoot when things do not go right. I just want to spend more time printing, and I am learning modeling too. Good luck with everything!

I got an Ender 3 V3 SE, for about $200. It has worked great, yet I haven't tried TPU. Wondering if the older, fancier one is better or the new tech in the new one makes up for it.

Quality production value, and decent content. Ive had my E3v2 for 2.5y now, I got a first run of it and I have learned so much. I've since gotten an Anycubic Photon and just picked up a Sovol SV06 I cant wait to get assembled. I have to admit it was kind-of funny to watch you talk about the parts you don't quite understand, but are okay with that fact. (6:10) "I honestly don't know why that happens but apparently this is where the magic happens" - just made me chuckle for some reason. Its interesting to see someone in a shared section of the maker hobby venn diagram, recognize where the lines are that you're willing to invest the effort into crossing. Drones are something I have definite interest in but haven't committed to the financial or time investments to pursue just yet. Fun to see the other side of my coin. Well executed video, and good thumbnail, worked to make me watch a video that probably wouldn't be anything new to me. Good job

It is such a relief to hear someone who is also a 3D printer noob who feels the same way I do about it. I am "this close" to getting an Ender 6. I felt exactly like you. I wanted to do it but was concerned about how awful it would be tweaking and settings etc. I was not sure what printer to get. I was told Ender 6 was a good one. After researching it appears that I can update it or make modifications in the future so I won't have to buy a new one (can't afford to buy a bunch of these printers. Just one is what I can afford right now). Also, the Ender 6 has an enclosure (sort of) for temperature control.

3-D printing is incredibly cool, it used to be a hell of a lot harder when it first started to become available. The reason why having a direct drive works better for flexible materials is because the filament stretches. If you have 8 inches of material between the hotend and extruder, that is a ton of flex and an accuracy. If you have a direct drive it reduces that play. Should make sense.
I do machining based jobs so I already had experience with setting offsets with machines and 3D modeling so it was pretty easy for me to start

Hey! I went through this exact progression...ending up with the S1 as of a few weeks ago, JUST as i was getting excellnt tpu results on my prior bowden printer (Anycubic MegaZero 2.0). This brought me into a spiral because i was NOT getting the same results with my old profiles on the new printer! Next step: UA-cam videos involving direct drive printers, and FB groups - got my profiles tuned to where my prints are coming out almost consistently perfect (actually, i'm using one profile and adjust supports as needed). Learning a few tips and tricks along the way, and a good one regarding supports: set the density to something stupid low! (I have set mine to 10% or lower, like 5%) and the supports just pop cleanly off. At this very moment, I mashed up 2 existing parts in Tinkercad: an iFlight Mach R5 fin and a Runcam Thumb sleeve for my analog racing quad; it's printing as i type and I'm trying something new as well - tree supports - hoping that i have less surface area to clean or an easier support to break off.

Lastly...how have i not subbed till today?! I've been a follower since i dipped into FPV!
Update: the print just finished and the tree support was actually perfect for this part...it printed perfectly as well...almost; my experience in Tinkercad/design is limited and i made the sleeve 1.5 mm too large so it wont hold the camera... no bother...back to the drawing board. Good luck!

I bought the Ender V2 a number of months ago. It prints ok with PLA, haven’t tried TPU yet which is what I originally bought it for. When I get a few hours to kill I’ll give it a try.
I've always been interested and I'm going to be getting the Ender-3 S1 Plus! I am very excited (and nervous naturally) to start my own 3D printing journey!
With my Ender 3 S1 Pro, I don’t really use a piece of paper to level it. Sure I use paper to get the bed about level, but don’t try to only use the paper trick. After you have it about level, just run the auto leveling probe (with the M420 code) and watch as it has PERFECT first layer adhesion.

One thing I recommend when printing TPU is use an enclosed printer, it will bring some minor strength and quality additions the the TPU print, but you don't really need it. This is just if you want to make it slightly better.
Thank you so much. You may have just help me explain why my prints started sticking so firmly to my bed that they began making it look like swiss cheese. I just bought a piece of glass with the assumption that it would be more durable, and it is. Removing my prints from my glass bed have also self destructed in the removal process though. Perhaps increasing the nozzle distance will improve the life of my print bed and my prints.
When I started printing I had to restrain myself from throwing the printer out the window. It wasn't till I modded it that it started working right. The CR touch made the most significant difference to me and then I upgraded the Bowden tube and the extruder. It still gives me a fight once in a while but it's not as crazy to fix anymore. I only use it for available prints every now and then and sometimes I design prints to solve problems. Like designing replacement parts.

great video I really enjoy it i have a ender 3v2 and I got on the way a ender 3 s1 i love my ender 3v2 over the last all most 2 years i have learned a lot of about 3d printing i do a lot of rc trucks and accessories on it
My first and still using, 3d printer is an original Ender 3. Over time I made some upgrades. It is still my go to printer for game parts and door hooks, hangers, clips and holders, etc.
I am still using my original Ender 3. Made a few modifications over the years. It has been a great printer, never giving me any trouble.
I own an Ender 3v2 I was happy with it but as time went on it hit me that it was very loud. I upgraded the fans on it to Noctua fans, upgraded my board to a BigTreeTech skr e3 mini and my hotend is a Voron Stelthburner. I highly recommend these upgrades if you get into a testy mood. If not an easy upgrade would be to get a Raspberry Pi and load either Klipper or Octo print to it to manage your printer wirelessly (does not improve loudness). Anyway good luck and happy printing.

me and my dad started 3d printing not long ago, and we're enjoying it so much!!! Its so cool to print some silly things, or some helping things like a phone holder. We dont regret a single penny spent on plastic, printers (we have 3 of them) and some other things.

TPU is definitely one of the more challenging materials to print on any printer just due to its nature, but it is possible with some fine tuning. So, I am sure you will be able to get tpu to print perfectly or near perfect on both printers with some time and fine tuning. Keep at it. 😀
Nah, it only depends by the printer...with direct extruder printers like neptune 3 and such is easy to print.

great video, I have the S2 found it very frustrating and discouraging to get that bed leveled and extruder height, I gave up. But now going to buy the V1 and sell the V2

I got an ender 3 max neo and let me tell you have already made so many cool things and has been very fun. I am only 13 years old and I am able to make many things and I almost addicted to finding cool models to print.
I have an Ender 3 v2 pretty happy. I have updated the extruder as the orginal plastic one broke. The aluminum one is an good upgrade. Helped quite a bit with TPU. Still some stringing but good enough for me. Auto bed leveling would be nice 👍
I added a bltouch and then i figured up u can do the mesh leveling by hand so i would recommend getting better springs so the leveling last longer and do it by hand.
@@carvas1237 I upgraded to silicon bed mounts from already stiffer springs and I gotta say that was the best $7 I spent on an upgrade.

I first researched additive mfg (stereo lithography) back in the 90's. Since then, I've watched the printers get better while reducing the price. When price, quality, filament types and abilities, ease of setup/use merged, I picked up a creality k1c.
I noticed with my S1 Plus all of the springs were not compressed completely before the adjuster knobs were added making it impossible to level properly until compressing the springs and re screwing on the knobs one at a time which fixed my problem!
I have been thinking of buying a 3D printer for months, specially this model you bought.
I have done some 3D pieces but not myself, back in college I gave the .cad file to an IT/computer lab assistant and thats all, I had my pieces printed on college computer lab.

Yeah the Bowden style extruder system has the drive motor separate from the hot end. Trying to pass TPU filament through the tube after the drive to the extruder increases the force the motor has to drive it with, because the TPU generates so much friction inside the tube. This results in the filament catching momentarily when trying to drive it forward in the tube, making weird oscillations in pressure at the extruder. It's also like trying to pass a wet noodle through a straw in many ways. I don't know, my first 3D printer will be delivered today! Went with a direct drive Anycubic Kobra, myself.

I’ve had a v2 for about 2 and a half years now and when I first got it I was struggling quite a bit but now I can just press print and leave it. Once you get the printer dialed in it becomes a lot more hands off and a lot less frustrating for me at least.

YAAAAS. I am so excited for you to get into 3d printing and mixing your main hobby (even tho its more like a job) with a new one. I have had a 3d printer myself for a while and even though I don't for drones, I do use it for RC planes. It's such a cheap way to make props, replacement parts, and just a good way to prototype. Great video! Love that you're mixing it up a little bit.

how durable are the plastics I wonder, can you get different ratings for different use cases ?
I've got a flash forge creator pro 2, and these two hobbies were made for each other. Both of these hobbies are fun and fulfilling places to learn and spend the time perfecting. The printer has come in very handy, and would highly recommend adding a 3d printer to anyone who is in the drone hobby.
6:10 - because softer plastics are harder to push inside the bowden tube on a bowden setup (your first printer), they move and give inside the PTFE tube. the farther the extruder is from the hotend, the harder it is for the extruder. imagine trying to push a string or thread inside a plastic straw. the solution is obviously to shorten the distance between the extruder and hotend - i.e. a direct extruder.
The tube guiding the filament to the head was 1 of the problems the hard filament slides through it easily but when you use softer filaments they drag in the tube which stopped it creating sufficient pool to fill large areas. Don’t over tighten the filament drive wheel or you will jam it up.
I too bought the Ender 3 V2 as my first printer but just cahnged the springs updated the os of the printer and now i have a manual level mesh, and i don't change it very often, so that's i would buy an auto level addon for the printer

3D printing is the most frustrating (and then rewarding) hobby. I've almost thrown my ender 3v2 out the window many times... But I seem to have finally modded it, tuned it and now it works consistently with wireless connectivity via Klipper (on PC)
I've printed premade models, modified models and created my own pracital parts from scratch.
Its very satisfying when it works.

I recently finished re-tuning my ender 3 pro after installing the Sprite direct drive. That was a pain to say the least. Took about 60 trials to adjust all my settings in Cura, but now my printer is a beast at any material except abs.
Does this thing print abs ok or Have you encountered problems?
I, too, am VERY passionate about starting this hobby. I've done a lot of tinkering with both cad sites and the cura slicer, just messin around. I REALLY hope to get my 1st printer very soon, by the end of the fall at the latest! This video definitely has me excited about the S1, praying I get the funds together to get everything I need to get set up! What types of tools would you recommend for this? (outside of the common households ones for assembly)

Thingiverse is awesome. Definitely look at adjusting the slicer settings first. I use CURA with some custom Ultra Fast settings I found from another UA-camr and it literally took hours off the print times. Now I’m having fun printing upgrades! I have an Ender 3 v2 neo which was still cheap but came with the stuff I would have got anyway and is a bit slicker design.
direct drive vs bowden when printing flexibles - the difference between pushing a wet noodle through an 8 inch tube and pushing a wet noodle through a half inch tube .. also has fewer opportunities for your wet noodle to escape.
On this video (The Ultimate Beginner's Guide to 3D Printing - Part 1), you can find the solution to "overhang", the extra stuff hanging, by adding Support in the negative spaces.

Video suggestion. Canadian take on the hoops you need to jump through before you can fly your whoop. Is a sub 249g drone worth considering or just jump into a license right away? What are your favorite Canadian Retailers for equipment and parts?
I bought a Anycubic mega zero (first edition, 12 volts) about 1,5 years ago and it no works through its 13. roll of filament. I did some minor repairs (hotend, printbed, plugs with loose connection) but nothing expensive or more than 30 minutes to find and repair the issue.
I mostly print hobby stuff like miniatures (which I paint later), but I also printed household stuff and small gifts for friends. It pays of very quickly. I later bought a resin printer, which actually is at second litre, but that allready paid of compared what buying the same amount of miniatures would cost.
So I could highly recommend this, especially for people who are in models, toy railroad and so on.

I have cr10 v2. still solid 2years+....when my first printer arrived, i did not open the box for 1+ week😆, I knew that I might stay in front of it for hours once I open the box haha
For the ender 3 v2 glass bed, try rubbing it with some isopropal aclohol, i use this and the prints stick really good when it's warm, but when it cools, it just pops off, hope this helps
Now this new ender model basically has all the features and looks as the Vyper which is super easy to use and has been out for nearly a year. Still in that low-medium budget price range.

The Ender 3 was a great choice. While some may argue, there are some really not-so-good printers out there that, with heavy mods, might work just as well but still not as good as the Ender 3.

you can adjust Z-offset live during a print, works the best
all ender 3 v2 needed for tpu printing was 20min part that can be mounted top of the ender 3 hotend itself...it uses same old extruder(most preferably metal extruder if u havnt broke the extruder arm yet or printed replacement part) and same bolts so u already had installed to ender itself. after that even 60a CoexFlex was possible to print fine with little stringing, 70a worked like ur normal material and had no problem printing 40-50mm/s
