Adrian, great job! There's nothing quite like the satisfaction of fixing something yourself, right? It reminds me of the time my 59 plate MK6 GT TDI had a radiator leak and just wouldn’t hold coolant anymore. I got a repair quote but decided I was going to figure it out on my own! As I mentioned to you on Instagram, this issue tends to hit all MK5/6 models eventually. Like you, I ended up removing the entire front end to tackle the problem. It felt like it took forever because I went super slow, nervous that I’d mess something up. A quick tip for you: keep a bottle of coolant in your boot for the next 100 miles or so. My Golf kept giving low coolant warnings while it was self-bleeding. Even though I left the engine to get to temp, like you did, and kept topping it off, the car still "gulped" some coolant during the drive. After a few small top-ups, it was finally sorted so don't get alarmed and worried if you get these warnings for a few drives. Great content, keep it coming! 👌
Thanks very much! 🥰 Appreciate your tips But yeah, slowly I’ll be tackling more and more things now. Building up the confidence 😊 But yeah, like you I just did not want to pay the cost of replacing it. When I can slowly tackle it myself for cheaper. I had a similar problem with the Porsche I had before, luckily it was under warranty. But if it was out of warranty 😳 It would have been VERY expensive. I think these problems are even more common on Porsches because of the location of your radiators and the lack of protection they have. If and when I get a Porsche again 😅 I feel like I can tackle the problem myself now. One day I might be technical enough to try an engine rebuild Maybe when I’ve retired and have the time 😂
@@WhatThePun I know the feeling mate - I have done suspension, brakes, evena timing belt (with help) things like that, never tackled a clutch or anything. Not yet
It’s good to see you getting stuck in, I mean what’s the worst that can happen? You break something, you buy a replacement, fit it, lesson learned for next time…
That is also very true But ideally with the time I have, not being a full time UA-camr yet. I would want to fix things with the limited time I have and accurately without breaking any thing by and spending more on parts. 😂 Thankfully that happened with this fix
I used the instructions on www.pelicanparts.com to help me figure out how to remove and fit the radiator 😎
Well done!
Thanks
I feel like I’ve unlocked an achievement replacing the radiator 😂
Well done! What a mega job!! 👏
Next up, rebuilding a crashed damage Nova 😂😂😂

You could have taken the Rad out without taken off the bumper removal from the rear of rad pack
Yeah… I saw there was different ways of doing it.
It was my first time, so just wanted to be sure I did it without breaking anything.
I think it’s pronounced “Mar-lur”. Well that’s how Volkswizard pronounced it.
