Yuri, thanks for the shout out! Literally saw the car in la, came back to Canada. Saw your review of the original and went got the GC variant. That b58 engine w a stage 1tune by my boy at protuningfreaks with the m performance exhaust had that car nearly perfect in daily capability, weekend outings, near suv big box shopping hauling and then pure driving hooligansism.
Also love you guys and happy to have been watching from those days.
Still go back every so often and review that video and before i have that car back we took it on one last rip thru cliché as an ode to yall.
As someone who has owned an M440i Gran Coupe xDrive for a couple of years now... with the exact spec they mentioned (Brooklyn Grey, Tacora Red Leather, Black Matte Wood trim), I can safely say that this is THE BEST car I've ever owned. It handles well, is super comfortable, tech works fantastically, etc. I love the way it looks, but obviously I'm biased. It's an amazing car.

You might be able to but I haven't seen anyone try. Someone put an F32 front end on an F30 (previous generation) and it looked cool. If it's possible it wouldn't be cheap though.

I had a 2016 435i gran coupe, looked 1000 times better.
This video makes me miss my M340i so much. 540i I have now is lightyears more comfortable, but so much more muted
Just makes me want the prior gen 4 series even more. Especially in that blue color you were showing it in.
I have a 2019 F32 440i in estoril blue and with MPPSK. It looks great and sounds glorious. I wanted one in snapper rocks blue but was difficult finding a well optioned car so opted for regular blue.
I have the 2018 F36, it’s a great car that is still practical
That's only $59k in US dollars, actually a decent deal. I'd still rather have an M340i I think.

Hi guys! I actually own an M440i Coupe M performance Edition and previously the M440i GC Individual Edition and my current one has the M performance exhaust, I definitely recommend with it but it is not as agressive as the previous generation. But still has a VERY decent sound, the cold start is crazy!
Think I’ll keep my 22 M340 , thank you very much 😅

I have an M340i as a daily car. It is now at the BMW dealer for some maintenance and adjustments and I received the M440i Gran Coupe as a loaner car. The 4 is faster, newer and more luxurious, but the experience in a 3 is much better. mine doesn't have an opf filter so those roars come from deeper and more beautiful. all in all nice car.
Seeing the thumbnail, my mind immediately went to the older 440i video... Was a pleasure to see it actually referenced in this video, too. Those crackles and pops were _insane._ Some day I hope to have the money to burn on a BMW, because there's no way I'm buying it as my daily driver without very deep pockets. lol
The modern BMW’s have drastically improved in reliability. The company have taken strides to improve issues that occurred in previous model. I believe modern BMW is around number 3 overall on reliablity now which is quite a statement for a German Car in this era. The engine and transmission on this generation are really robust and reliable.
@@zeke937so far, my 2 year old M440i GC has had zero issues. No error codes, no burned oil, no issues whatsoever. It’s been bulletproof.

I have a 16 year old and a 17 year old BMW, both with the N52 inline-6 and ZF6 automatic. Both are bulletproof. Reliable BMWs have been around, and all data point to them getting even better lately.

That old M440i video was the trigger for me to buy my 2019 F36 M440i with M sports exhaust and stage 1 tune chip producing 355 HP 369/ ft torque
I’ve had this for 2 years. Great car.
I chose the M440i Individual matte grey with red callipers over 340i ! Many compliments for the looks and super practical, I carried the work table in the boot with seats folded down during my shifting. And the HK sound system is incredible considering 800€ option. The interior lighting is so cool and the advanced driving assistance feature is brilliant though I miss 360 camera.

The lift gate is adjustable on the infotainment. The reason they probably set it low is that on the highest setting, it hits many garage roofs.
Honestly that little bit they added to the front end helps so much. I really hope the next gen cars go back to a more

I have the old gen f32 and test drove this gen. I just can’t make the jump to this gen. I love everything about my f32; the body lines, the pops & crackles, luxury feel but sporty too. Just can’t beat that
For sure I have a 2019 F32 440i with MPPSK. It looks great and sounds glorious. The grille on the G26 is fugly lol.
You guys finally mentioned Lancia! You should do a history episode where you enlighten people that Vincenzo Lancia invented things like independent suspension and unibody construction among other things.
Weird, I have driven this in front of a g21 3series 340i which I owned, I found the 440i to have worse steering feel and worse behavior.
Plus the g21 (which is a wagon) was more practical and best in rear seat space. The only missing part was the elbow rest and door top was full plastic despite full leather package on 3 series.

Picked up my new M440i Gran Coupé two weeks ago, very happy with it, but need adapting after a G31 that I got so symbiotic to.
The best colour for this one is 'arctic race blue' , but I couldn't justify the extra for that, so I got Dravit Grey. I have the standard 18" M-aerodynamic 858 M Bicolour wheels, but will use them as winter rims. You definitely want 19 inch or perhaps 20 for summer handling. The 18 inches are too much rubber, too floppy, even with inflation 25% above recommended pressure.
The 'laser' rear lights are standard on the new M4, and optional on other models - as I understood
The opening height of the hatch is set in the iDrive settings, which is to prevent the hatch from opening too high in your garage with e.g. an opened rolling door or whatever that's called.

I too have the previous F32 2dr 440i with the M performance exhaust (MPPSK), I still giggle like a child everytime I turn it on.
I like the look of these tbh. The thing that puts me off most is that it basically is an i4 which is like.. the default company car for senior profiles here nowadays. The 2-door version, especially 2024 model with all options is insane though, but 2 doors is just not very practical imo. 3 series it is then. Will miss my 440 when it’s time comes

I thought their whole thing for changing the numbers on their cars was to to differentiate between two door and four door, I guess not pretty soon we'll get the three series two-door back then, hopefully the M3 badge with a two-door will be back

I have idrive 7 with climate buttons and rarely use them, just leave it on auto 20 degrees all year long! I would be fine using idrive 8

Thanks… I bought a 2020 M340 after watching the review back in the days. But now I hate you for getting me in that car. I loved it so much I traded up to an 2024 M3 and my pocket is much much lighter.

Word of advice, think wisely, M3 better? Yea… but 50% more better no. MPG on my M340 was getting average around 25. M3 I’m in the 17.
I picked up the M3 and told the sales guy, hey you don’t give customers full tank of gas? His like it’s full… and I’m like it shows 240 miles till empty…

@@deadlydonague2402 touch screen doesn’t bother me at all. If you look very closely, only button your missing is the climate control. Still have physical buttons for volume and next track. Most controls done via steering wheel. I keep my climate control on auto, so I don’t even find myself touching that often. Only thing that really sucks is the heated seats(heated wheel still a button). Heated seats don’t actually turn on unless the temps are at certain temperature, even if you turned it on low. Basically even the heated seats is “auto”. Only way I got it to turn on was under “very high” setting. I’m in SoCal… so I don’t see any freezing temps.
Few things reviewers don’t touch base on is the improved HUD. And ID8 does look much more fancy. The all app display is a bit daunting at first, but how often are we going into those settings? M1 and M2 takes care of the sports mode. I still have an X4 with ID7 and can flip back and forth, and can confidently say both are good. One thing, if you were the type to use the quick shortcut button 1-8 then it will have a little more learning curve. As now you have to swipe down on the touch screen to get to your fav buttons.

One quirky thing! The auto stop/start on M3 remembers last setting! M340 you would have to turn off each start. Also I hate the lane centering, M340 is on by default, M3 is disabled by default!

One of the best all rounders and personally the best in the segment.
Really Sporty in sports mode, B58 FTW, Smooth and luxurious in comfort mode, Love the iD8 curved screen and gauges, adaptive cruise with Lane centering is pretty darn good.
I urge all manufacturers to give lift back in all coupes and sedans to make it more practical and stop this segment from dying.
IMHO, it looks way better with the laser lights and better wheels that BMW offers.

Just as a correction: 382BHP = 285kW and 369lb-ft = 500Nm not 188kW and 400Nm. Unless i missed something ?

MPE is a port option costing $2500 in the US. If I remember correctly, it cost $1600 in 2021 😢

I have a 330e and it does irritate me that most BMW’s don’t come with adaptive cruise and advanced driver assistance tech. It requires expensive packages, meanwhile most mainstream brands have it sometimes standard 🙃
One of the reason dealers opt out these additional safety driving option is they afraid of additional cost will deter buyer from buying it😂

Agree, BMW and Mercedes dont have adaptive as standard, only part of expensive option packs. Infuriating when literally every other manufacturer does. £80k without adaptive!!

I bought a 1985 BMW 325e in 1988 after graduating college. I loved that car. Two door, black leather seats, sunroof in Diamond Schwartz.
My, have BMWs gotten bloated and insulated. There is really nothing with this car that equals what BMW did with the e30 platform.
That being said, I would buy a new M2. At least it’s a small sporty coupe with a manual.
Here in Europe its RIP M340d and keep rising M340i....

@@rohitkalra90 they get stuck due to ice. Sometimes don't roll down when you try to open a door, sometimes they manage to roll down a bit and get stuck and can't come back up. You end up having a few drives with a door/window that isn't properly closed/sealed until the ice melts and you can operate it normally again. Annoying.

I think it’s interesting that the 4 series outsells the 3 series but the m340i seems to be WAY more popular than the m440i on YT . I’ll probably be buying one of them in early summer and I went from leaning towards the coupe to now looking at m340i almost exclusively due to all the content influencing me 😂
It’s mostly BMW purists on YT, versus real people which purchase these cars. Most people who “hate” the grille on the 4 series are people who can’t afford it.
@@madpistol this grill has been out almost 4 years now I think….what’s the chances BMW changes is in 25/26? Another reason I’m leaning toward the m340 is because it might age better. Then again if the 4 series is selling so well then maybe the grill change is never coming. Maybe new m340 might have a larger grill even

It should be mentioned that this Legacy Edition is the ONLY way to get the current gen 4-series Gran Coupe in Canada with an ICE powertrain. Not sure why they've decided to sell these 300 here but haven't offered it up until now.

A base $24k Honda Civic comes with adaptive cruise control lol. Heck, seems like most entry-level midsized sedans come with adaptive cruise as standard now...
I prefer the 3 series over the 4. The new WRX exterior has grown on me more than the front end of the 4 Series

They come really lifted from factory. A slight drop would make it look a lot more sporty
The drive lights are much cooler with the 'Laserlight' that I have on my i4. I'd rather have the 440i, but in a country with EV-rebate and insane car purchase tax (150% above a certain price!!!), the 440i is almost 80% more expensive than an i4 eDrive (which is the best one).
The 4-series has less space in the back than the (previous) 3 series.
Adaptive cruise can be really annoying, because it is overly cautious.

I don't know if everyone is on the same page. Is it just big grills that people don't like? I think the grill on the Audi(s) looks fantastic, and that is a big grill. Maybe it is just a grill that most people find ugly is what people are complaining about???

Considered this versus the Audi S5 Sportback and ended up going with that. Main considerations were the space and aesthetics. Jakub can't sit behind himself at 6'1 in this but I'm able to sit mostly comfortably in the S5 at 6'0 without headroom really being a problem unless I sit perfectly straight up and back, plus the rear hatch itself has a bit more room. I'm also just not in love with the looks of the 4 series, seeing it almost every day in my neighbor's driveway. The front end is polarizing but I also thing the rear is oddly boring while also being awkwardly proportioned, whereas I love pretty much every angle of my S5. The only real loss to me was not having the B58 or heavy rear-bias of x-drive, but the S5's turbo V6 provides more than enough power for me anyway, and came in way cheaper when including must-have options like overhead camera or adaptive cruise control 😜.
Get a tune like JB4 an get that power loss back!
@@HB238 I thought about that, especially when I was consider an A5 instead, but honestly the S5 is already feloniously fast as it is lol. If anything I might consider a TCU tune out of warranty if anything to get a bit more response in comfort mode without the twitchiness of sport transmission.
