- Blues classic, Freddie King's The Stumble performed at an impromptu jam by some of L.A.'s best studio musicians. Hadley Hockensmith on guitar, Phil Driscoll on keys and trumpet, Bill Maxwell drums, Michiko Hill piano, and Pee Wee Hill bass. This was the first track they laid down as a warm up for the session I was filming.
I love these guys and their great music, I sure miss Koinonia and wish they would all get back together!!
I am totally agree with you!
This is such great music it really needs to be released on a CD or DVD.
Amazing musicians
Highly professional
Phil I realize you don’t know me from Adam’s apple 🍎 but over 40 years ago I when I joined my my high school band the trumpet 🎺 was the instrument I played but years and wear on my vocal chords and now dealing with COPD doubt I could carry a tune in the bucket probably could bang the buckets better than blow a trumpet 🎺. I told Wille Nelson some years back that if for some reason God took his voice he could walk out on a stage with his guitar and never sing but the moment that guitar 🎸 started I would know it was him because he has such a unique guitar 🎸 and there’s none that I know have that distinct sound. Why when I saw you play at the funeral it was not so much your voice but there was only one I knew could play trumpet 🎺 like you. Some days it fails my memory has caused me to forget times and events but as I said I’ve listen to you on radio, tv, cd’s just like with myself time makes memories go opposite directions but when you brought that horn up I knew it was you. I listen to Darlene all time but lost track of you or vice versa but I can see when you play God is speaking through it just your voice but your instrument of the Lord. I pray soon one of my dying wishes would just be to come hear you perform. I’m just s nobody to ma y but I am a child of the King on most high. What a great honor to hear you perform. Your music has such conviction and depth that if one walks away it’s like turning your back on the talent God created you for. Thank for such mountain moving it’s like saying I’m coming to proclaim my mountain Lord so if it be your will make all things possible because all things are possible through God
Stumbled into this and WHOA!
Hey, I was just searching for some Hadley Hockensmith. I wasn't expecting a full-on Jesus jazz-blues throwdown!
Smokin' hot, virtually unknown masters of music throwing it down, seemingly effortlessly, making greasyback beats, lucius thick rhythms, and sickeningly hot solos.
So far, I'm at 4:09.
I would love....L-O-V-E to have this music on CD to take it with me on the road!!! There has GOT to be a CD and DVD of this released!!!! I mean...Seriously!!!!!!
Fantastic brother. !
living LEGEND!!!!!
Great music but also good multi camera shoot, edit and not forgetting great audio prodn. Well done!
I'm intrigued by the purpose of all of the switches on that Les Paul. I count 13 between the pots. Wow!
Absolutely!!! In the vast wasteland of plastic music.....We need more music like this! Hats off to Phil and that wonderful band! Please make this available on CD and DVD.....Hello???????????!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)
I’m so glad I found out about u all. Digging it from South Louisiana
Amazing!!
Yet again some really fine blues - Boyd, you are so lucky to have been there.
Whoa.....awesome!!!!!!
Such incredible talent - thx for the wonderful music - cheers from Canada
great music indeed. I didn´t even know that Hadley Hockensmith was still playing, heard him last time in the 80`ties with Koinonia. All are playing really great here. such a pleasure.
Hadley also did a stint with David Gates/Bread in the early 80's, then spent 25+ years backing Neil Diamond. Prior to Koinonia he did a lot of studio work for Maranatha Studios (ex: Kelly Willard, Keith Green) and prior to that he toured with Andre Crouch, as I recall...
@@timothybailey2119 Thanks for information, friendly greetings, Soeren

That’s a lot of switches on that les Paul 😳
Jesus told him that he needed all of them.
É... Acho que tenho muito que aprender sobre música... Kkkk
Hadley and Bill were local legends back in OKC, my hometown, had a band called 3rd Avenue Blues band. I posted a bunch of their stuff on here, if you want to hear the early days........
You needed a real blues pianist for this
This is not generatión X, This is not schred trash, ¡¡pure músic!!
Guys, this is them "just warming up" 😆
is there a DVD for this session?
Someone can tell me what the 1: 19 minute scale is called, or if you know some videos on that scale. I would like it very much.

Does anyone notice the bass player doesn't sync up during solo? I love this video but that seems strange.

The sound of Abe Laboriel. The bass player tried to copy, but he didn't manage . . . 🤔

WOWOWOWOWOWOW................... :^() ...!
Who's playing the Fender Rhodes?
Knut E. Lauritzen That's Phil Driscoll
what kinda crazy gibson is hadley playing
Does somebody knows Hadley's date of birth?
Give that trumpeter a blood pressure tablet!!! ;-)
Way too much cocaine
I have been looking at that guitar he is playing. It looks like a Les Paul, but I don't think it is.
His name is Pee Wee Hill??! 😂😂
A jazz version. Something different.
wow he had such trouble with the trumpet. Yikes
I thought it was pretty good!
That’s Phil Driscoll! He’s a legend...just getting a little older...but still great.
seriously?! that was a little good but seriously?!
it was great right up until we had a JAZZ pianist playing a jazz solo on a BLUES piece.
Hey guy! please, put away the trumpet.
i don't like the bassman he is so boom boom! no swing .
LOL./...this is awful... corny and underplayed. Sorry.. im usually not negative..BAse player and drummer and that guitar tone was nice.. the rest was underwhelming.
I didn't really enjoy it as well and I'm a huge Freddie King fan. This was too jazzy and too many instruments taking solos.
