Hasn’t the talk around the North and West Coast flipped. Is footy media all over reaction ? If they had their way Carlton would have sacked Vossy last year.
Lyon doesnt understand how to read a rule. The usual proviso is precisely inserted to allow discretion. Please someone explain this to him.
Fairest and Best is still what the Brownlow should stand for, the problem is that the rules are getting so restrictive it’s only a matter of time until every great competitive player gets suspended for what is otherwise a football act.
You do know it's incredibly rare for a true brownlow favourite to be suspended? When was the last time the person woth the most votes was suspended?
@@TheMissiIeUm, yesterday? Even with a quiet couple of weeks he’s still likely to have the most votes at this stage. And what I’m saying is it’s going to become more and more common as the rules get tighter and more nit-picky about what gets you automatically suspended. But the proper conversation won’t happen until Daicos or Cripps gets a week for a nothing act.
@cmadelaide56 he was the favourite, there's no guarantee he would've won it anyway. Now if he ends up with the most votes and the suspension stands, sure, then we can discuss the punishment rules.
And I don't think he should've been suspended, a free kick is fine, but suspension is wild
@@TheMissiIe if you got your nose broken in a sunday seniors game at your local over something like that youd be on the ground crying mate 🤣🤣
@@TheMissiIe I agree with you, historically its very rare, and as there is usually never more than one ineligible player at the pointy end of the leaderboard, we still end up with a very worth winner, so its not a big story. But, as you can now get weeks for things that were not even reportable only a few seasons ago, is it possible that if we have several seasons of legitimate contenders ineligible to win, that the award starts to lose some prestige? Id hate to be the poor kid who wins this years raising star as its already appearing in the media like he will be "lucky or undeserving as the first two options were ineligible
By Browny's logic, Rankine incident was in play and he was trying to create separation.
Also the older the list the more likely that your list is injury prone.
i reckon Richmond didnt get the memo this year
Fyfe and Cripps both got off in winning years. Probably more too, if he is actually in contention at this point he won't be suspended but if he hasn't polled as well as they thought he'll be ruled out
browny clearly has a few quid on Heeney for the brownlow. Hitting someone in the face off the ball is at the very least a week. Whether it was in play or not. He has a duty of care for his opponent as well
It was an accidental swinging arm that unfortunately made contact with the players nose....people seem to forget that the afl is a contact sport😂😂 that stuff is always gonna happen whether you like it or not
And it’s Websters duty of care to not jump face first into someone’s fist. It should’ve been waist/stomach/chest height and yet Webster copped it in the nose… his own bad luck
Caminiti got a week for pushing Murphy last year to get separation and accidentally got him in the jaw because he dropped his knees. So if you want to talk about precedent it’s 1 week everyday of the week. As for accidental, well it clearly wasn’t because he swung his arm around deliberately with enough force.
If Isaac get off that’s the afl looking after Brownlow favourites
Thoughts on having an indigenous team in the Afl ?
For State of Origin yes
Bobby hill in the middle
He could play a burst-mid role, reckon it would work pretty well
@@rosssmith557yeah so he can finish bottom 3 every season instead of getting a flag and a norm smith 😂😂 🤡
Look to next season for Collingwood and move a few magnets
Lipinski to Half Back
Richards to the wing
McInnes to build his tank and move to the centre
Mihocek to Full Back
Move on the over 30s coming out of contract at the end of the year
Add a few kids to the team next season including Allan and DeMattia and maybe Eyre depending on his preseason but he’s getting better in the reserves
Relocate Leppitsch to the back line and Skipworth to the forward and Roughead to coach the ruck
The trouble with these suspensions is they're protecting the scragger who's illegally holding the man while punishing the bloke going for the ball.
The pies aren't in a form slump, there playing exactly the same as they did last year.
It’s just this year teams aren’t choking last quarters against them.
exactly, the law of averages is catching up to them
Well that's a lie. Collingwood's efficiency has been far lower this year than last year. So YES, it IS a form slump
Wrong, collingwood were top 4 defensively without the footy last year, top 2 for pressure.
They were tracking the same this year after losing the first 3.
The last month they are bottom four defensively and pressure is 17th. Now they get scored on because they can't stop the ball movement, and it's only a recent trend after a lot of instability.
Can they fix it? Probably not because of who is injured, but maybe the replacements can do their jobs, we'll see. It's an open season and they're only a game behind. If they lose to Geelong it's curtains.
@rosssmith557 Collingwood have a lot of decent young players and they'll get a war chest in cap space when their veterans retire in thr next 2 years
Plagued with injury
Not enough is going wrong with the Pies.
Browny, keep the best players out there and all the rest get 2 or more weeks. You must be taking the piss.
Be good no injuries every bunch slapped together 1 game from top 4 😅😅😅😅
Bye bye Adam.
Swinging a clenched fist back with force is not really trying to get separation.
AFL is a contact sport champ. Heeney was clearly trying to seperate himself froma scragging plodder who wasonly intent on impeding him
It is if you’re not looking at your opponent and swinging at waist level not knowing your opponents head is lower than you expect. You’re going to argue and I’m going to say watch the replay again. There’s a reason IH is apologetic straight after the contact, he didn’t plan to contact him in the head.
@@cmadelaide56 Christian a Collingwood grub failed to exercise a sensible discretion when applying this rule. Isaac will win the appeal. Christian should be booted from his job and they should replace him with someone who understands rule interpretation. At the moment its amateur hour
@@paulmatters2641Paul you don’t matter
@@cmadelaide56 Ahh yep, Andrew Gaff was doing the exact same thing and the Brayshaw threw his head up and caused the connection.
An average team that has run out of luck.
Overcooked Pies are dry & Flakey - common knowledge
Heeney Meany Miney Mo grab a .....
Bruh I can’t stand Jonathan brown. Blokes had the same haircut since the 90’s and rocks pants that are way too tight for a bloke in his 40’s
No one likes people who say bruh either
Heaney swung his arm , hit somone in face , its intentional . Wear the penalty and move on . Brownlow who really GAF . I love you Brownie but this give the Best players a hall pass is BS
