I remember being a young lad in my Grandpa's garage helping him work on his old Ford truck, this song (among others) on the old radio on his work bench. Tunes riding on the soft breeze coming in as the sun faded low. Where did it all go?
Right! I have been building a country music playlist but it is hard to find decent music, country or otherwise. I dont do the cry baby, my heart is broken, cry in my beer songs. Always scouting music.
Now this is the kind of country (progressive) that I love to this day! Great harmonies, melodies, and musicianship that are sorely missing in today's music. How I hope great groups like McBride and the Ride, Restless Heart, Blackhawk, Little Texas, Diamond Rio, Confederate Railroade, Alabama, etc. will re-emerge as the gold-standard of modern country music! It's simply too good a genre to fade away! Thanks for posting this memorable song and video.
This is such a beautiful song and truly represents great country music. There is no screaming or hard to understand words. It tells a country story that is real. It has a special place in my heart.
Hard to believe so any years have passed since I first heard this song. Such wonderful lyrics. As someone else posted, country music today just ain't what it used to be. Superb song!
We had been married less than a year. We had a very small baby. We were already heading for divorce. My friend told me to fight for my marriage. I hadn't even thought of that before she said that. Then I heard this song on the radio. I knew it was a sign from the Lord. After listening to this song, I started patching up my marriage. We had two more beautiful children together. We ended after 20 years. But because of this song (and my friend's advice), I have 3 beautiful children from my former husband instead of 1...and lots of great memories. Thank you, McBride and the Ride!
my ex wife and I met in high school, we had a little girl together. I ended up working two jobs to support her and our child. She then decided to venture out while I was working. She met a man and decided to leave with him. I then took full custody of my child, around 5 months later she came knocking on my door. Apparently the other guy got what he wanted and then dropped her. I couldn't accept her apology. Friends and family seen her homeless and begging throughout the years. My daughter is now 29 and don't know her. My daughter calls my now wife Mom. I have 2 grandbabies now. I hope she is okay, but I always kept my cool...she decided to try the other path with a man full of promises that he had no intentions on keeping. My daughter still thanks me to this day for standing my ground and not allowing this woman to hurt us again.
Always loved this one! Just hearing the beginning of this song takes me back to my childhood. I sure wish these guys would get back together. They put out some of my favorite music from the early 90's.
This song makes my eyes well up with tears every time I hear it, because I went through an extremely painful divorce in 09 that I'm still reeling over. The pain is still as fresh today as it was then. I was raised that marriage is forever, and the line that "we were joined in the eyes of the Lord" gets me every single time, because I still think like that, but I guess that she never did.
Michael I know just how you feel. I too was raised that marriage lasts forever. To others, I was just another stepping stone in their pathway of life. My heart goes out to you my friend....
+rockinthesouth Thank you so much for your comment. Even though it's 6 years later, I can't shake that promise I made to my ex-wife in front of both of our families and God. We were together since 8th grade and engaged in the 11th grade. I do admit that I wasn't an ideal husband sometimes, but I stood by my ex no matter what happened. But she just didn't have the same level of commitment, and I found out too little too late because when the bad times came, she cut and ran. I hope that one day I'll find a woman that shares that same mindset, but I don't really believe that today's women think that way. They view marriage as something that you can terminate if you don't like the way that it's going, and I just don't see it that way.
Michael.... you done your part, you stayed through the good times & the bad. Isn't that part of the Wedding Vows? Some people don't realize what they have until it's too late. Obviously she made a huge mistake by leaving. In today's times, you don't find someone that is devoted enough to stand by the words they spoke on their Wedding Day. Her loss is another woman's gain. I wish you all the luck in the world. I pray you find inner peace, and happiness. Some day the door will open up to a new love for you. Embrace it....
I saw these guys in concert in Stone Mountain Park in 90. It was raining like crazy and it was an outdoor concert. Billy Ray Cyrus was also a headliner. In another part of the park Confederate Railroad was appearing. It was a Great Day for music, even with the rain. Billy Ray sang Some Gave All at the laser show that night. McBride was Top Shelf! Hundreds or thousands of people standing in the rain listening to music. They had to delay their shows a time or two because of hard rain getting their instruments wet and even a little lightning but they came back out and finished their shows.
The lyrics of this song and gorgeous vocal harmonies bring a tear to the eyes and chills down the spine. This is real country music, not the crap they play on the radio now.
i grew up in the best of times for country and still listen to it all the time, i rarely listen to today's country because it lacks what classic country did. i was 8 when this song came out.
When I Think Of The 90"s I Cry Because It Brings Back So Much Good Memories Of Mom I Know She In Heaven Looking Down At Me And My Brothers They Are All I Got Left And My 2Boys And 1Daughter I Name Her After My Mom
I remember seeing this group for the very first time when they played at the Minnesota State fair. I was robably only like 10 years old! I loved them! And I still love this song! This is truly one group i really miss.
This song so reminds me of me nd my wife. Everything said in this song we have been thru. We just recently got married in the eyes of the lord. I just showed her this song today nd she loved it. It put a big smile on her face
Thank you guys. 😢 it's been rough since Emzy (my soulmate) passed. Some jerks even use my last joy of music against me. Yall artists making music, are the only thing getting me the worst days. ❤❤❤❤
Hello Sherrie 👋 OMG this song takes me back to a better time a wan in my life. Where is that time machine? LOL there are those day"s I need the music, and on the other days, I need the lyrics!!
I love your music, especially the great vocal harmonies. I wish more country artists followed your style of composing and performing. You guys are great. Your music sounds as just good and up-to-date now as it did when the song first came out. Today's artists leave a lot to be desired.
I had the honors of meeting Terry when I was 13 years old at a local music hall in Beuna Vista Ga and he and the entire band was extremely AWESOME !! Wish these guys wouuld come back and bring more music !!!
The 90s was the best decade for country music I spent my youth. Listening to mcbride and the ride bllackhawk Garth brooks ty Herndon and many others some of today's stuff is just to pop sounding
I love this song !! It brings back lots of memories I remember in the 90s we paid for pizza to be delivered to the bus in the parking lot in Nashville. Keep up the good work boys !
I can say I agree with you there , it's just not the same music , this is the kind of music that take you back when they first came out and all the older songs .
I think most real relationships are like these lyrics, ......" we were joined in the eyes of the Lord, in the eyes of our hometown, leave her alone,....You're treadin' on Sacred Ground !
Miss these guys and true Country Music, not this pop country we have today. Miss the Honky Tonks🤠
That song is 30 years old now. So hard to believe how times have changed since then. 90s were the end of simple life and awesome country music.
They were. There were so many amazing singers and groups that a lot of them got lost in the shuffle.
In retrospect, that 90s decade for country music was better than the 80s (synthesizers!) and obviously better than the 2000s.
Amen!! Wow that long ago, seems like yesterday 😢
Man we thought life was going to be so much simpler.. things were still getting better, it seemed anyway.
@@GarageFiringSquad correct. All this technology is destroying us
70s through 90s were great for country music
Takes me back many years when country music was still worth listening too. :)
All better listen to all the country music videos. It better than rap crap. Country music is the best there is a great place for

Agreed!
Absolutely
Nothing like classic country music...
Some of the video's from the 80's and 90's are so much better than stuff that's on TV today. This is one of them.
Loved these guys in the 90's... So underrated!
Still love this in 2019.
Everything that Rascal Flatts became in their prime, they owe it all to McBride and The Ride.
These guys were so severely underrated.
I agree they were and still are the shit
Rascal Flatts can't make a zit on McBride and the Rides a$$!!!!
One of the most underrated country singers/bands ever!!! This was one of my favorite songs as a kid!! Still love it to this day!!
I sure wish could go back 90s. It was a entire different world we lived in. This is real country music !
This bring me back to the 80's/90's innocent real country.
Now this is the kind of country (progressive) that I love to this day! Great harmonies, melodies, and musicianship that are sorely missing in today's music. We were joined in the eyes of the Lord. ♥ 2018
