Imagine finding out you can travel back and forth in time, yet before you figure out all the rules, you decide to bring your dog in on the experiments, then lose it.
I spoke with the screenwriter. He said time travel cured Steve's brain tumor and Brianna sees him in an old photograph happily married with a family and his dog. The End.
Didn't Steve get trapped in the 1860s but his dog got trapped in the 1930s? I guess it's not impossible for him to eventually reunite with his dog, but he would have to wait about 70 years to do it, so he would be *extremely* old by that point, unless the synchronic also made him immortal or something.
Then he became the smartest man in America. He founded the city, found his dog, helped win the civil war, became a Rockerfeller competitor. And is the one who left the clues for them to find in the future. The end.
He would run into a lot of hurdles though. Being a black man in those era's dangerous. Being a modern educated black man in those era's could be really dangerous.

YES SYNCHRONIC! the makers Justin Benson and Aaron Moorehead made a sequel Resolution(decent), and Endless (good!) Also they made Spring (Pretty Good!) and Something in the dirt (kinda boring)
RESOLUTION (2012) is a sequel to what? Certainly not SYNCHRONIC (2019).
