Apart from a few missed shortcuts - at least one on Papu's pyramid, my main issue with this video is that you say "you have to achieve/have high speed" and then barely turbo boost or slide in the video... These shortcuts used to be more difficult to get. Nice video though!
shortcuts suck anyway, why is there online? if in the old game only those who spend time on mastering shortcuts they would win.. try to win without using shortcuts instead. if you're really good you should not need them, if you need shortcuts to win then stop pretending to be good
@Jesse Veraert in the old game most shortcuts could be taken without boost, only by timing jumps perfectly, but here it was clear even a badly timed jump would be enough, they fucked up most if not all shortcuts by changing distances and angles to whatever they wanted, i was very excited for this game but now i'm very dissapointed by their decision to make the game more casual friendly by negating any skill based feature the original game had.
I think they are removing the unintended shortcuts. Some of the shortcut are ultra unfair. The one from Oxide station springs to mind. After the turbo boost pad that takes you into a tube, just don't bother keeping USF but just have sacred fire and you need to jump off the rise after the 2 boost pad after you get out of the tube. It skips the space jumps and is so fucking cheesey that everyone uses it to beat oxide's ghost

@@theelitegamer1980 there is literally a glitch that let's you skip a whole lap. which is something i completely not okay with. And chill out about Speedrunners, it's just a competition about who can beat the game the fastest, it's not like they are don't want to play the game. Also the speedrunners in this game is like the pinnacle of how good you are in this game (Non-glitch wise). Tracks like Cortex Castle, Blizzard Bluff, N. Gin Labs is where you are most likely to be tested
You didn't need a lot of boost to take them in the original either. Just timing the jumps was enough... the only ones that needed real boosts were those "unintended" ones, but those will be unavailable I think.

@@mauren7773 they are not shortcuts anymore, there's no need to time jumps correctly anymore so there's almost no risk to take them, so they are the official path now, hopefully ai will at least take them every time as well, otherwise this game will be very boring for singleplayer.
you forgot one on polar pass.. and one on tube roo, mystery caves too, canyon dingo, you can cut the firts turn with max speed and jump. Hot air skyway, the last turn, you can jump and cut too etc..
most if not all of these shortcuts are built into the tracks and have been known for years (all of the CTR shortcuts existed in the PSX version and have been known for years). What's missing is the truly broken shortcuts and those won't be revealed until players have gotten a chance to experiment on the tracks firsthand.
Nice video man, it's so nostalgic seeing this game again, but there's another shortcut in Hot Air Skyway, just after the one you show here, there's this ramp, that you have to stop, turn around, and go the wrong way in order to jump off of and over the fence separating the two halves of the track, which would skip a whole section in the race, hope you can find it, and add it to your videos, used to to do it all the time back then.
Everyone complaining about the short cuts being "way easier" will fail to do them. "You can make it with almost no speed" yeah, but doing it with speed might be the difficult part, don't you think?

@@elemental8039 I will repeat what I said in my comment. More accessible doesn't mean easier. The guy is showing the short cuts, he is not doing it in a real race, with the speed that you would probably enter that place, so in a real scenario it might work different
This player would have never made it into the sewer speedway shortcut with the base driving speed in OG CTR (even at 10 wumpa fruit). Even with correctly timed slide boosts that shortcut was hard to do, it needed precise jump timing off the half pipe.
As a kid that shortcut in Tiger Temple was always open for me. I think other racers would hit it open at the right moment for me so I never learned how to open it until like last year lol. I thought it was just random
I actually have a rather important question: Is it possible to beat the Tropy and Oxide times right away (as in: On your first time trial attempt), or do you still have to go at least three times in order to unlock the first, and then race them (like in the original)? Would be such a QOL improvement if you could simply beat it on your first try instead of having to race it again, even though you were actually faster already.
Wheres the 3rd Papu's Pyramid jump? It was done by Oxide's ghost. And Assembly Lane had a pretty obvious straight path shortcut in the N Gin Labs ripoff part originally that might of been changed though.
He said he couldn't replicate it, it was a very easy to take shortcut so i guess they got rid of it as well. The one on ngin Labs you're talking about is the one where you land on the speed pad right? I think they also deleted that one, i'm a bit sad with all these terrible decisions they made.

Uhhh, you didnt add the biggest skip in papus pyramid. Near the end you can jump off the big ass ramp and skip that whole big 180 turn, saves up to idk 4 seconds

They already knew about them. There were a lot more that either don't work anymore or weren't shown in this video because driving on grass is more punishing or this game doesn't include the ghost speed downhill mechanic.

Which is justified, IMO. Too many of the old shortcuts, especially the Oxide level ones, were cheese. I still think these should be harder to access though.
Does anyone know if the banned the papu papu shortcut off the ledge where you could finish a lap sub 30 seconds? That was my most challenging shortcut to master without super turbo pads and I can consistly get it about 70 percent of the time if keeping sacred 🔥

In hot air skyway there is a better shortcut when you jump over a fence, you have to backtrack a little though

Papu's Pyramid also has a shortcut before you hit the last turn! Its the incline used for the turn, just use it to jump onto the other side

You have to do it three times. Actually you even have to go out to the menu to activate the ghosts every time you beat a time.

missed Polar Pass shortcut. you can skip all those turbo boost jumps. on the first turbo boost, jump to the track to the right.
finally no illegal shortcut on CTR, i lost so many friend because doing that

I think the one before rolling boulder is a bug. There u can get a big jump. Because in the original they are not rendered well.

I never was able to get into the half pipe shortcut as a kid and am still not able too.
