I think it has a lot to do with them being in a private match. I play with my friends in the UK on 130-140 ping and my games look like his on 250. Maybe it's just me but that tenth of a second difference from 30 to 130 ping makes a huge difference.

I cant be arsed to Q for so long for ranked over here, so I play all my RL there. I get a 210 ping on EU servers, and just learn to adapt. It would be interesting to see if my rank would improve if I only played locally. Although I'm not that sure it would make much difference in plat and gold:}

The next season I got an ethernet connection and my rank jumped from champion 3 in 2s and 3s to GC2 in both.

but i think server ping is very different from internet ping... i mean i got champ 3 on 150-220 ping, im in the middle east and i play on EU servers, but it definitely isn't that laggy on 200 ping if you have a constant ping it wont affect as much really, since 2017 iv been playing europe servers and even when they added the middle east server i never played on it, dead server, no one really plays in middle eastern servers lol.. at least people my rank... i also play oce when i go to malaysia(for uni) so i get like 120-170 ping. so you can say 95% of my matches were on 120-230 ping and i actually got used to it now

Umm the Nintendo switch players i feel bad for because i used to play on switch and the server connection is rough and you it could look like your at 30 pin but in reality your server connection make you play at 200 ping.
Lag is fine ...latency variation is the biggest headache ...when the ping keeps jumping from 50 to 120 then 60 to 200 .....ball defies physics and car does ice skating ..

I'm pretty sure ping stands for the amount of time yur computer takes to communicate with the server so if someone's has 30 ping for example verses someone with 100 ping... the one with the 30 ping will basically be 70 millisecond ahead of what the person with 100 ping will see
Me a c1 with constant ping thay goes up from 50 to 300 in a secound “guess I’m a gc” lol. Maybe not but I’d say that with reliable ping I’d be at least c2 or c3 and not losing my mind. Great vid
My average ping is 100+ at Diamond 2 but when I go to my friends house he has crazy good internet so I have 70 and under so I rank up to champ. When I get back to my house I go back to diamond.
Honestly ping shouldnt matter too much to an extent i was fluctuating from 100 ping to 400 all day yesterday with the occasional 900 ping but still winning games. Ita not that bad as people think. I was hitting some pretty sick clips, but its annoying tho bc just about everything was a struggle bc certain actions were delayed by little bit

The ping is one thing but the packet loss can be even worse, and sometimes happens on a good ping (rubber banding)

you didnt compare the effect of latency variation, stutter, and packet loss. it makes way bigger of a difference

High ping is one thing, ping variety and packets dropped are the other. I think you should use some programme to simulate lag/packet drops.
Playing with packet loss is far more difficult because not only is there delay, but some data is missing too.

High latency has NOTHING on latency variation. 80 ping with latency variation is worse than the ~400 ping with high latency in this video.
