- Have you ever discovered a new mechanic? Rocket League is a game with an unlimited skill ceiling where moves and abilities all come down to how well you can control your car. Thus, even 6 years later, we are still seeing new game mechanics or moves being discovered. Some examples could be the Wall Dash, JZR Flick, Breezi Pop, Horse Dash, Curve Dash, and Tonic Twist. All of which have been discovered over the last year or so. For this video I asked every rank (from Silver to Supersonic Legend) to show me a mechanic or move that they have invented. It may be a legit and useful new Rocket League discovery, or just a funny, meme play (like the Obama Flick). Either way, their place in this video will be determined by 3 things.
1. The pitch for the mechanic telling me why it is useful or real.
2. The name the came for it (and why).
3. The video proof of their new Rocket League Mechanic in action.
It's part entertainment, part discovery as I think we have found a good mix of both meme mechanics and some brand new Rocket League mechanics for 2021. Enjoy.

Thanks to all of you that submitted, 160 entries was way more than I expected (even though there was 20 or 30 trolls). In the end this was *mostly* for fun, but it was interesting to see that there is STILL new stuff being found in this game. (and yes I'm aware these might have other names/creators) What was your favorite mechanic?

Rocket League is a timeless masterpiece. "Rocket car football" is just, a perfect concept that doesn't need any more refinement and never gets old.
Wooden's bar dash is close to a perfect name but I would call it a post dash since its on the corner post. In my mind a "Bar Dash" would be if someone could figure out how to do across the transition from the top of the inside of the net (like your going for a squishy save) around the crossBAR and up the wall. Which could be a bail out option in the case where a player loops through the back of the net setting up for a squishy save but then realizes that they need to get to backboard instead.
If someone pulled a backwards pinch on me in-game I'd just leave ngl. It's too OP
Yes, yes it is
@@woodenrl8304 lmao
Ive actaully done it in practice by accident like a week ago

I get its probaly a meme entry but Loads have done it in game I've seen it early 2020 maybe 2019
The "Yoshi Flick" is incredibly common in GC Rumble and upwards, and has been for some time - usually it's used without releasing the ball to avoid opponents, but if you're good you can time it right to get the ball to release at the desired time.
I was plat when I found this more then a year ago, it's nothing new
GC in rumble💀💀💀💀💀
I do that in my private matches with my friends and we call it the ball pogo
The point of this spike flick is to flip shortly before the spikes are about to run out. If timed perfectly, it gives the ball more momentum, making it more difficult for goalie to defend against.
@@TehAntares you can turn spikes off whenever in Grid Iron I believe.
That spawndash might actually be something we will be able to see in proplay. Getting an instant boost after a demo would be nuts at that level
I actually tried making one called “shovel flick” you jump face your car down and flick the ball up making it high up I would usually use it if someone fakes kick off. If you were the miss u would just push the ball and it reminded me of a shovel this should be a mechanic.

yep
i was just thinking this
lol i remember this
I call it “Walking the dog” it’s so annoying 🤣
Yep
That Nox kickoff something-something was actuallay a strategy me and my friends used in heatseeker. We did a speedflick on kickoff and that launched the ball diagonally upwards (behind us) allowing us to do amazing air redirects
Never submitted a video, but In silver I had a kickoff where when starting from the sides you do 180 drift into a backflip right when your boosts runs out and I still use it to this day
Let's go! Bugdash for the win!
No spawndash
No.. it's obviously just spawn dash. A great standard mechanic we all need to practice now
The bulldoze comes from mustys video "I paid PRO casters to commentate a BRONZE ONLY 1v1 tournament"
THE DOZER

LMAO was looking for a comment like this
the musty dozer from musty's cousin
mustingcow is the best at bulldozers
Literally subbed before the actual video started, great idea, definitely what keeps games alive.
nice to have you!
Sledge dash is the best name. Its what you do. You slam like a sledgehammer into the ground to boost. It works intended since you need to be above ground to spawn in any game or you fall thru map
Damn the spawn dash actually looks awesome, wonder is pros would use it in the future
Ah dang that furnace kick off thing with the musty I’ve been doing forever when I mess around in casual, it actually does work pretty well if you can time it right you can also lean back and backflip when your half way and if timed right you’ll throw yourself right at the bottom center of the ball and hit it over the opponent, it’s really hard to get the timing right in that though and tends to work better on corner kick offs
My favorite mechanic is a simple air dribble because of the fact that it is suck a simple concept yet takes so much control to actual do correctly
Glad I stayed till the end I’m gonna start saying Schrödingers touch now
its the phantom touch tho...
Yup, that mechanic is "phantom (touch)"
@@spynderMK oh I just call it a “ghost hit”

no turbo did a turbo flick, he completely failed his flick, this "ret flick" is more of an "afterflick," which is a much more straight-to-the-point name
@@jjhoffywhy bother name it after someone anyways, i'd rather call it an afterflick
@@transcendnze572 even so, pros and you tubers have been calling that afterflick mechanic a turbo flick. And even before Turbo popularized it by hilariously failing his flick and scoring in an RLCS match, FairyPeak had already intentionally mastered the mechanic in a 1v1 tournament almost a year prior to Turbo’s goal in RLCS.
I think everyone has pulled it off in game so yeah I could say any rlcs player has done it before and it’s true

The Dozer was perfected by an up and coming pro named Amustingcow. His second finisher includes the mechanic The Musting Jump which is only one among several god tier mechanics
I've been doing a variation of that musty flip kickoff for a while now except mine is basically the same mechanic as a 180 flick so your clip comes from on top of the ball instead of underneath it.
the ssl spike rush strat was also something i use to use against my friends who were better than me, and i can confirm it works
“The Ret Flick” is a mechanic that Fairy Peak mastered and started using in ones a few years ago. He could do it on command against the best ones players in the world, not just by accident. 😂

I call one I like to do the mc queen kickoff starts as a downward forward boosted dash and immediate speed flip before getting to the ball bc the dash gets u supersonic and the speed flip is what you like to use to get kickoff goals
The fact you include your son so much on your channel is astronomically beautiful and wholesome

i saw half of the mechnics before in normal game but its a great video!
Thanks sledge your content is one of the most unique in the rl content creation seen
I don't know if it's quick enough to be worth it, but I often recover by doing a backwards wavedash into a half flip instead of just the half flip. Not every recovery, but when it makes sense to. I've never seen anyone else doing this so I assume it's inefficient, but it sure gets you going supersonic quick!
just today watched a guide on how to get supersonic without boost and backwards wavedash into half flip was one of the options lol

The first time that i did the spike mode i saw alot of people doing the yoshi flick and i did too because its logical, idk if he invented something or if it was existing since the beginning of this game mode
I think I have created a new kickoff when starting in the middle, you boost up to first boost pick up then front flips over the second and boost just before landing and as soon you hit the ground then jump wile boosting 😊

Cant wait to see the speedflip kickoffs change in the future.
You can’t use it on kickoffs since there’s a 3 second timer at the start during which your car falls to the ground
@furnas:
I dont know when he invented it, but in the music season, i done this in training, cause i wanted to try a musty without bringing the ball in the air and I was bored.
Actually it was challenging to hit them with this technique . (gold) I found it stupid and continued :P
That schrodinger clip was legendary 😂
I remember using the Furnas kickoff in my old champ games, and it worked surprisingly
I still do it in diamond
I actually found out the mechanic from the ssl guy but it was really a struggle to get in in game since it was like 2 years ago so I could only use it in rumble and it was actually really hard to score it since players always rushed pretty fast towards me. But the second part, where u let the ball go, I really did not think about using these two together
I actually only play rumble, and I also discovered this “Yoshi flick” a while back and have used it to great effect, it’s so unpredictable and you get so much height out of it so quickly that it can’t be blocked if you time it right
"Get into reverse obama position" lmao 🤣
I thought of the furnace kickoff so long ago. I called it the musty kickoff
I mean, that's essentially what it is.
Same
Ive used the spawn dash in training because it spawns u in the air a little bit higher than in game but never knew you that other people didn't know that or off demos
I have 1 that is very simple yet powerful (I once scored 8 points in a row in one game). I call it whoosh since it sends the ball flying past opponents. It's useful for getting many points fast ( but it needs luck, you need to be close to the middle and you need to be the first to hit the ball)
Basically at the start of the match you hold boost until you are pretty close to the ball and then let go of boost until you hit ball (I haven't tried it without the octane car,So It not work with others) and it will go flying over the rushing cars.
This will stop working soon. The "kickoff" is a skill people practice, and your opponents will soon start meeting you at the ball no matter how fast you go, infact some will probably start beating you if they have really trained their kickoffs. Go watch some higher level gameplay (thanovic, musty) and you will see what I'm talking about.
7:49 the fact that I have already been using this as my kickoff strategy lol
2:07 I can't believe society has regressed to the point where sitting upright is now the "reverse Obama position".
You mean "progressed"

This us actually an amazing concept
It was a lot of fun. You never know what it's going to turn out to be. You can only put out the call and wait for submissions. The community came through, and when you include some meme mechanics it turned into a decent list.
@@Rocket_Sledge I’m not too sure on many others but for me I would love to see this kind of video again. Also, keep up the great work
I made a mechanic called spring flick. Basically you start dibbling. Then dribble in the air while airolling. But only spin around once for good measure. You have to airoll for it to be a SPRING. Lastly front flip the ball to hit into your opponents goal.
I sadly didn't submit but I have found a useful mechanic in gold 2: the backwards flick (idk if this mechanic exists yet but whatevs). When the ball is right in front of you in the air, jump, point your nose straight up, Air roll 180° so the wheels are directly facing away from the ball and once you get close enough to it, do a front flip. This will make the back of the car push the ball forward + upward and maybe make you score. Now this is useful since the wheels hit the ball less powerful than the top of the car and thus this flick allows you to get more power on it.
It's called a boss flick
i like to see my mechanic skyrocketing
I'm laughing at omelette mush party dash
that musty kick-off, i use whenever i am eather winning by a lot or if i am losing by a lot. Been using it since gold and im diamond now
not trying be mean, but your still a gold if they didn’t change the MMR system.
@@XIMTANYL but im not a gold
I've been doing that backflip kickoff since early 2017 because it was the only way i could consistently get a decent one
I have a mechanic, don't know if it's new, it's a cool kickoff that gets to your corner, or to the middle, you boost, then halfway to the ball, you do a small jump, turn to left with air roll for left spawn and, right if right spawn, and either one with mid spawn, then when you face the ball, flip towards the ball
For the last year me and my friends use to call the « bulldoze » the « 21 shot » because one of our friends used to always score like that (he was in gold) and his name had 21 in it and we would always laugh when he scored like that and say « nice 21 shot bro »
I think the Diamond won. He had really creative ideas
bulldozer wasn’t his musty “invented” it

Nice vid
I’ve done the musty flick kickoff too… damn I even thought about making a video about it like a month ago
I’m not very good myself, but I’m pretty sure people at mid champ and above can recognize the mustyflip kick off and adjust to get a good 50/50 to kill the ball. I’m only a c3/low gc1 myself and I can react to that kick off almost every time someone tries it on me.
I found the last submission while playing spike rush with my silver friends, unfortunately my friends couldn’t detach the ball and ended up floating in the air waiting to be demoed
A couple months back, I was in mid ariel, when I thought of doing something. Didnt think it was gon work, I made it seem like I was going to air roll, stopped turning, and air rolled BACK the other way, scooping the ball with my wheel and making it arch into the goal. One of the coldest moves I've ever done. And I clipped it
Show me
Cool, the yoshi flick is a thing now. I've been using it all the time in spike rush and sometimes in rumble.
Might I add that the Yoshi flick is literally what bots do every time they get possesion of the ball in a spike rush exhibiton match
I’ve got the best mechanic, it’s called the three wheel drift, you have to equip the car named armadillo and since it has three wheel and not two you can then pull of the new move called the three wheel drift
Plot twist: Only xbox players can use it
I also started trying the 1 wheel drift
that’s actually the smartest thing I heard so fat
I'm late for watching it now, but the Furnas Kickoff its actually great and I use it plus new kickoffs I made for myself just to try to see if it works to counter speedflips or fastest kickoffs since im not that fast. My friend told me to stop and start learning mechanics that champions do but he just doesn't get it.
I always do a musty on kickoff as well and I didn't know other people did it too lmao.

LMAO IM PLAT AND DO THE YOSHI FLICK SO MUC
although i love the name yoshi, it's not a yoshi flick. it's a front flip

I am a diomond and I have a mechanic.
I'll just call it the goal dash, the name explains itself, you just drive directly in the goal and keep flipping forward as you go through the back of the goal to tge top. You will quickly launch out of the goal, it's a good way to recover if you suddenly find yourself in the other teams goal.
Hey sledge, this is for you just in case you do a part 3 then me and my friend can be the platinum tier because we made a mechanic together.
The bulldoze was stolen from Jamesbot in mustys video where he had silvers 1v1 and let the pro casters cast the games. It's actually called "the dozer", so that one deserves credit elsewhere.

The “reverse obama position” sounds so cursed… i love it.
I made a new kick off called the potato chips, you just do the normal kick of but just before you hit the ball you jump and air roll, making your opponent pinch off your car and back towards their goal/ directly sideways. For straight on kick offs you have to lean forwards as well but yeah. It’s named the potato chip because some people call potato chips wedges and you are wedging the ball in between you and your opponent
I used the yoshi flick while I was trying to figure out ways to dodge defenders and can confirm it works unless they jump up for you
That backwards pinch is something I've been working to perfect for a while without knowing anyone else has been doing it too.
