My whole house was watching it and absolutely loved it. One of them even dl'd FGO despite hating it lol It was the first good dub since Zero, too. I think Ufotable handled HF and UBW pretty well, but this definitely has the potential to be one of the go-to Fates. It's fantastic so far and they're really living up to the hype.
Takahito Sakazume and Shun Enokido who directed FGO CMS, as well as being action directors for apocrypha took the helm of directing strange fake. When they were announced as a directors i jumped from joy, you could say they are the best fit to direct fate cause they are fate nerds (I mean that in a good way) And i didn’t mention the connections those two have with tons of talented animators, I just hope aniplex go easy on them to not rush the schedule, i wish this project takes the babylonia treatment, which is healthy schedule with no overworking
If the entirety of Fate/Grand Order get produced with high-level production and rewrites for some chapters like, uh, ..Septem, London and Agartha, it'll probably the best Fate anime.
Oh hey! New video, and fast video too nice! Always good to see you again and this time with a Fate anime! For this one however, I have heard about it and knew it existed, but kinda forgot it also due to well… everything else. Haven’t checked it out, but will do so seeing as it looks to be another great Fate anime that looks VERY reminiscent of Fate Zero, having an actual battle royals in a single setting with multiple characters from the modern world and it’s various heroes all going against one another. It looks like blast to be had, especially with the return of Gilgamesh and his eternal OTP and actual best friend Enkidu, but as well as every other heroic or Fate character that’ll make their appearance. Can’t really say anything else other than that, but if it looks good and is reviewed as good as you say it is then I will gladly give it a watch! And this seems to be an absolutely amazing new and stellar entry into the Fate franchise. But other than that, loved the video, love the reviews, don’t really vibe with jokes but that’s just me. And I’m just here for the pretty unbiased unfiltered reviews of whatever series you decide to cover. Hope your still doing well in life, and that this channel grows even further! Story wise Stay night is up there, even has a lot of fates best moments, with deep meaning. zero's Pacing is a massive problem at times which completely slows down the story way too much. Strange fake near has more moments i will rewind and watch mutiple times already. I hope Jack atleast kills 1 master. "i don't have the write to do such a thing", "Coming to this place was a decision i made all on my own, the dessert should hold resentment only for me" Beautiful lines, well spokens, the music and who hes saying it to. Even gils Response, he actually listens to someone speaking criticism of himself. Shows how much enkidu means to him vs anybody else. This type of moments can only be paid off because of the Fate Series before it.

@@MrInuhanyou123 Most of the material has been animated, outside of stuff like Requiem, Tsukihime stuff -- excluding Mahoyo but I feel Ufo will do Tsuki after -- Prototype, Red Line, and FGO stories. The adaptations themselves are good, sometimes arguably better than their source, so it's not too big a deal if they don't read the original sources, but I find the issue is normally that people don't watch all of it even though it has been animated. As you said, they just watch Zero and Stay Night, which is fine, but something like SF is the kind of series that, while enjoyable without prior knowledge, is very clearly intended for big fans of the franchise.

Strange Fake always does that to pretty much majority of TM works like Kara no Kyoukai, Tsukihime, Fate/Grand Order, Fate/Stay Night, Fate/Zero and Fate/Prototype. Another example of this is on the conversation of Orlando Reeve and Caster in this episode. Caster subtly mention Shirou by suggesting Orlando to hire him instead if he wants "someone who created replicas" but Orlando rejected because "simple counterfeits will not do"

I really hope they make the animation less janky in the next episode. This type of animations ruins a lot of adaptations and I hope fate doesn’t go forward with this style.
Theory: Jack Berserker is the devil. Think about it, this Holy Grail War has extremely powerful servants so what if Assassin Jack is a fake and merely an avatar of the people Berserker Jack would corrupt. If you look at the world that Assassin Jack grew up in with no parents or any good grown-up figure, would it not be illogical to assume that if anyone acted nice towards those children, they would do anything they’d say even kill? So what if the devil or “Jack” would tell these children to kill people in exchange he would help them in their world of poverty and misery when in reality he just wants their souls.
Ok no jokes tho, writing wise Strange Fake isn't all that great so don't get your hopes up, it's passable and better than Zero, Apoc and Last Encore but that's not hard, what makes Strange Fake stand out is the huge amount of large scale action focus which is an unusual thing for a Fate title to have and you could only really find in Prisma Illya until Strange Fake came along and while Prisma Illya in typical Fate fashion still balances it's action with character driven writing, Strange Fake says fuck it and just goes all in on the action, if you're expecting to see character or story writing as good and indepth as in Stay Night, you won't find it here
The guy in question doesn’t have a particular high opinion of stay night it seems and based off ufotables adaptations I can hardly blame him. Also strange fake has fun writing that still has plenty of depth. It’s good.
Yeah true, the character writing is nowhere close to the level in stay night, but strange fake is still very fun to read and the cast is at least pretty good. Narita did a way better job at fleshing out the cast than Urobuchi did in Zero imo. Most of the characters are at least interesting and have some depth. Zero's cast was so weird imo, some characters were pretty decent, but like half the cast got pretty much zero focus and the characters were very one-dimensional. And that's without mentioning how badly Urobuchi handled artoria... Oh and I love how Narita references so many things and uses the lore properly, it's very easy to tell that he's a huge Type-Moon fan. So yeah Strange Fake is one of my favorite fate works, but Stay Night will probably remain my #1 for a while. I haven't gotten to the lostbelts in fgo though, and I've heard those are peak, so maybe one of those will be my favorite idk
@@ChickenMcBerger yeah compared to Zero the characters definitely feel more well planned and sufficiently fleshed out, i was just trying to say that compared to what Nasu, Hiroyama and Urobuchi gave us, Strange Fake can feel off due to it focusing more on the action Also yeah, Narita definitely feels like a fan, same as Hiroyama who was like one of the 10 people that actually read Notes before fgo was a thing lol While the lostbelts in fgo are definitely better than the first part chapters on average, not all of them are masterpieces, some of them have long, boring parts that feel like they stretch forever, some are just plain forgettable, however the highlights are definitely lostbelt 1, lostbelt 4, lostbelt 5 (not Olympus) and of course lostbelt 6 which reads like an extension to not just the Fate route but further exploration of Saber's character in general, personally i really loved it, it felt a bit like getting to read a new part of Stay Night, though of course it too isn't flawless, being in fgo kinda holds it back a bit

I don't like how they did the anime though (so, soo much fanservice 😭). And yeah prillya's author is definitely a Type-Moon fan too, I noticed that pretty quickly while I was reading it. Just like with Narita, I love how they're actually utlizing the lore well (something I feel zero could've maybe done a bit better?), and the class cards are such a cool concept. By the way, is there any info on when the next chapter will release? They come out so rarely, I'm pretty sure there was like a year long hiatus until the chapter that came out recently

It didn't feel very rushed to me, in fact it's the best 1 hour episode anime premiere I've seen. They're usually all dogshit, the Zero and UBW ones included.
@@To-To they did skip some stuff that was very important here, including like 3 or 4 backstories and a lot of things concerning tsubaki (the girl who's in a coma), and what happened to her parents (this is super important). So yeah the characters didn't get properly fleshed out here. And with Enkidu, it's weird that they skipped their introduction and explanation that they are gilgamesh's only friend tbh, I think that will make a lot of people confused. It seemed like the anime direcor thinks everyone knows who these characters are already. But overall it was decently adapted story wise, if they made it like 15-20 minutes longer though it would've been quite a bit better. Luckily they have an oppertunity to include some of the things they skipped (not all) in the series, so they still have a chance to adapt this well. I just hope they don't keep the pacing this fast in the anime series

Jobless Reincarnation and JJK S2 prove that something high in action can look great despite being a TV anime. That said, I’m sure the quality won’t be a 1:1, and if it is it’ll drop off in the later half, but it’s definitely doable, just not sustainable unless they Kyoto Animation it and complete all of it before it airs. Which is highly unlikely.
Nah, A1 is usually careful about how much is put into an OVA, that includes time and money. Given how fast their confirmation of a TV anime was an indicator that they've already been working on it and just needing to polish, we can expect double what the OVA has in that case. They aren't gonna blow the budget for an OVA to impress more people. Either you like the story or you don't, the team is their best that A1 has to offer so it'll improve if anything, slightly. Me personally, the story got me, it doesn't have to be layered in CGI like Ufotable to be a good anime. I was skeptical at first but then I realized that it's actually a unique art style I can appreciate over time. I do think they should improve on the fight scenes, play around with shadows and lighting a bit but other than that, no complaints.

The CW adaptations of FGO are p. poorly directed, paced, and written. Ufotable is good because they're consistent, but Extra arguably has the best visual presentation and style. Also naked Nero.

Tho my personal favourite visually is apocrypha, story aside the fights towards the end were absolute insanity in terms of animation, that was stuff I would expect to see in a movie but not a series.
Personally i hope we never have to see ufotable touch Fate ever again, after that last Heaven's Feel movie they really proved they don't wanna do more Fate, i just hope they don't mistreat the Mahoyo movie the same way
@@To-To Zero was a very good adaptation, but UBW had pretty big pacing issues and weird direction. And the fact that they changed shit for no reason and cut a lot of important character moments ruined big parts of the anime. On top of that they exaggerated Rin's tsundere-ness too much imo. They missed the point of a lot of scenes, like the "date", which is there in the VN to show how messed up shirou is in the head. In the anime, however, it's just presented as a normal slice of life moment. They did kind of try to show how shirou was messed up, by having rin ask him if he's having fun, but it did not get the point across that well. They seemed to focus more on making the fights flashy, than adapting the story well. Heaven's Feel's adaptation is a mess, especially in the third movie. It's got pretty animation, but a lot of important moments were butchered. They also cut most of Kirei and Illya's screentime, which ruined the emotional impact and a lot of writing towards the end of the route. On top of that the pacing was all over the place and wayy too rushed in the third one. So I wouldn't say Ufotable's adaptations are phenomenal or anything, they fucked up on a lot of important things. I guess Fate is just cursed with having dissapointing adaptations

zero's Pacing is a massive problem at times which completely slows down the story way too much.

@@MrInuhanyou123 Most of the material has been animated, outside of stuff like Requiem, Tsukihime stuff -- excluding Mahoyo but I feel Ufo will do Tsuki after -- Prototype, Red Line, and FGO stories. The adaptations themselves are good, sometimes arguably better than their source, so it's not too big a deal if they don't read the original sources, but I find the issue is normally that people don't watch all of it even though it has been animated.
As you said, they just watch Zero and Stay Night, which is fine, but something like SF is the kind of series that, while enjoyable without prior knowledge, is very clearly intended for big fans of the franchise.

@@To-To Not really, It's just another subtle reference/mentions to another Type Moon work. Strange Fake always does that to pretty much majority of TM works like Kara no Kyoukai, Tsukihime, Fate/Grand Order, Fate/Stay Night, Fate/Zero and Fate/Prototype.
Another example of this is on the conversation of Orlando Reeve and Caster in this episode. Caster subtly mention Shirou by suggesting Orlando to hire him instead if he wants "someone who created replicas" but Orlando rejected because "simple counterfeits will not do"

Ok no jokes tho, writing wise Strange Fake isn't all that great so don't get your hopes up, it's passable and better than Zero, Apoc and Last Encore but that's not hard, what makes Strange Fake stand out is the huge amount of large scale action focus which is an unusual thing for a Fate title to have and you could only really find in Prisma Illya until Strange Fake came along and while Prisma Illya in typical Fate fashion still balances it's action with character driven writing, Strange Fake says fuck it and just goes all in on the action, if you're expecting to see character or story writing as good and indepth as in Stay Night, you won't find it here
The guy in question doesn’t have a particular high opinion of stay night it seems and based off ufotables adaptations I can hardly blame him.
Also strange fake has fun writing that still has plenty of depth. It’s good.
Yeah true, the character writing is nowhere close to the level in stay night, but strange fake is still very fun to read and the cast is at least pretty good. Narita did a way better job at fleshing out the cast than Urobuchi did in Zero imo. Most of the characters are at least interesting and have some depth. Zero's cast was so weird imo, some characters were pretty decent, but like half the cast got pretty much zero focus and the characters were very one-dimensional. And that's without mentioning how badly Urobuchi handled artoria... Oh and I love how Narita references so many things and uses the lore properly, it's very easy to tell that he's a huge Type-Moon fan. So yeah Strange Fake is one of my favorite fate works, but Stay Night will probably remain my #1 for a while. I haven't gotten to the lostbelts in fgo though, and I've heard those are peak, so maybe one of those will be my favorite idk

While the lostbelts in fgo are definitely better than the first part chapters on average, not all of them are masterpieces, some of them have long, boring parts that feel like they stretch forever, some are just plain forgettable, however the highlights are definitely lostbelt 1, lostbelt 4, lostbelt 5 (not Olympus) and of course lostbelt 6 which reads like an extension to not just the Fate route but further exploration of Saber's character in general, personally i really loved it, it felt a bit like getting to read a new part of Stay Night, though of course it too isn't flawless, being in fgo kinda holds it back a bit
@@GBlockbreaker Hiroyama is the author of prillya right? Because yeah the prillya manga is actually very underrated imo, especially in 3rei. I don't like how they did the anime though (so, soo much fanservice 😭). And yeah prillya's author is definitely a Type-Moon fan too, I noticed that pretty quickly while I was reading it. Just like with Narita, I love how they're actually utlizing the lore well (something I feel zero could've maybe done a bit better?), and the class cards are such a cool concept. By the way, is there any info on when the next chapter will release? They come out so rarely, I'm pretty sure there was like a year long hiatus until the chapter that came out recently

@@To-To they did skip some stuff that was very important here, including like 3 or 4 backstories and a lot of things concerning tsubaki (the girl who's in a coma), and what happened to her parents (this is super important). So yeah the characters didn't get properly fleshed out here. And with Enkidu, it's weird that they skipped their introduction and explanation that they are gilgamesh's only friend tbh, I think that will make a lot of people confused. It seemed like the anime direcor thinks everyone knows who these characters are already. But overall it was decently adapted story wise, if they made it like 15-20 minutes longer though it would've been quite a bit better. Luckily they have an oppertunity to include some of the things they skipped (not all) in the series, so they still have a chance to adapt this well. I just hope they don't keep the pacing this fast in the anime series

Jobless Reincarnation and JJK S2 prove that something high in action can look great despite being a TV anime. That said, I’m sure the quality won’t be a 1:1, and if it is it’ll drop off in the later half, but it’s definitely doable, just not sustainable unless they Kyoto Animation it and complete all of it before it airs.

Nah, A1 is usually careful about how much is put into an OVA, that includes time and money. Given how fast their confirmation of a TV anime was an indicator that they've already been working on it and just needing to polish, we can expect double what the OVA has in that case. They aren't gonna blow the budget for an OVA to impress more people. Either you like the story or you don't, the team is their best that A1 has to offer so it'll improve if anything, slightly. Me personally, the story got me, it doesn't have to be layered in CGI like Ufotable to be a good anime. I was skeptical at first but then I realized that it's actually a unique art style I can appreciate over time. I do think they should improve on the fight scenes, play around with shadows and lighting a bit but other than that, no complaints.
A-1 is either a hit or miss.
Apocrypha wasn't that good but 86 was absolutely amazing, Strange Fake is a big project so i hope they'll deliver.

Ufotable is overrated. I prefer the animation of A1 pictures/cloverworks cos it feels way more handmade and less like overpolished cgi
The CW adaptations of FGO are p. poorly directed, paced, and written. Ufotable is good because they're consistent, but Extra arguably has the best visual presentation and style. Also naked Nero.
@@To-To I agree in terms of the movies, solomon in particular was a bit of a letdown, but babylonia was awesome. Tho my personal favourite visually is apocrypha, story aside the fights towards the end were absolute insanity in terms of animation, that was stuff I would expect to see in a movie but not a series.
Personally i hope we never have to see ufotable touch Fate ever again, after that last Heaven's Feel movie they really proved they don't wanna do more Fate, i just hope they don't mistreat the Mahoyo movie the same way

@@To-To Zero was a very good adaptation, but UBW had pretty big pacing issues and weird direction. And the fact that they changed shit for no reason and cut a lot of important character moments ruined big parts of the anime. On top of that they exaggerated Rin's tsundere-ness too much imo. They missed the point of a lot of scenes, like the "date", which is there in the VN to show how messed up shirou is in the head. In the anime, however, it's just presented as a normal slice of life moment. They did kind of try to show how shirou was messed up, by having rin ask him if he's having fun, but it did not get the point across that well. They seemed to focus more on making the fights flashy, than adapting the story well. Heaven's Feel's adaptation is a mess, especially in the third movie. It's got pretty animation, but a lot of important moments were butchered. They also cut most of Kirei and Illya's screentime, which ruined the emotional impact and a lot of writing towards the end of the route. On top of that the pacing was all over the place and wayy too rushed in the third one. So I wouldn't say Ufotable's adaptations are phenomenal or anything, they fucked up on a lot of important things.
