Lithium batteries do that, their capacity fluctuates a bit depending on temperature, load (sometimes your percent will jump down when doing something like run a benchmark, and jump back up when it's done), etc. In this case the surge of energy going to recharge the battery made it fluctuate down a bit.
@Vegan Life That's not true, Apple uses normal Lithium Ion batteries like everyone else. I don't think they really have the R&D (not without a lot of work) to try and make their own battery chemistry.
I tried to install Big Sur on my MacBook and it literally took about 2 days. Then I found out my Photoshop didn't work and tried to downgrade back to Mojave using a time machine backup, which failed and gave me the ghostbusters symbol. Then I had to use internet recovery to go to Catalina and then I tried to use the time machine backup again which also failed, and then I used internet recovery AGAIN and the it just decided to give me Mojave instead 🤔 Macs are really strange and infuriating at the same time 🙃 Edit: looking back like 2 years later yeah I'm a dumbass, Adobe is crap anyway
It's probably not because of Big Sur. Catalina forces people to use only 64-bit software. I would guess that your Photoshop is 32-bit, hence it didn't work. Just a guess though!

If you swipe with two fingers from the right edge of the trackpad to open Notification Center there’s a new bouncy animation for it. I’ve never actually used the button to open it.
If I'm not mistaken, the two containers are because I would assume that Big Sur would do the same as Catalina, by putting critical system files on a separate container for protection. Hope that helps!
There is still one thing that I still really want back, and it's the battery percentage in the status bar. Catalina has it, why doesn't Big Sur has it???
I recently found a 13in Macbook Pro mid- 2012 at the recycle center in good shape(repaired the HDD cable, SSD upgrade, new battery, and rubber feet) so I'm on Catalina, and hoping DosDude1 makes a patcher, and coming from Linux I miss having an estimated time remaining on the battery in the panel.
I am thrilled to see that they’ve already fixed a lot of the small attention-to-detail elements like the status bar drop down alignment. Makes me feel MUCH better overall about the other changes.

I feel like I’ve come to terms with the new finder layout and general design, but the extended distance between the status bar elements and the first party apps being confined to squircle icons still bugs me!
I installed it today on MB 12" and it's better than I thought. Very nice and good design. The only problem with safari is the menu is larger and there is less screen space.
I installed it two nights ago. It was an all night cursing more than I have in the past 6 months type of experience. I have a secondary display for my 2019 MBP. As I don’t have an external HD to use for this, I created an APS volume to get it running. After the installation my monitor’s resolution starts wigging out. It’s huge and stretched out! On top of that the display arrangements are wrong. Right was left, and left was right... So I rebooted back into Catalina to get myself something that worked. The display issues bled over into it!! “MOTHER F*****!!” Lots of rebooting and 2 hours later I have my displays fixed. So then I deleted the Big Sur install by wiping the APS volumes?? Out and recreated one from scratch. Not sure if I deleted the right ones, but nothing exploded, so yay. Installation 2 now. Everything works, and my screens are good. Stupid Ken curse isn’t supposed to effect the viewers! It’s not funny that way!! Lol
The View and Window drop down menus are still not aligned. The check boxes in Finder Preferences for tags are out of the window. It defaults to the awful iPadOS wallpaper instead of the Big Sur wallpaper. The TV app is still a nightmare. No access to the iTunes Store in the TV app so you cannot view or purchase complete series boxsets, any movie boxsets, or discounted items. You must use an iOS device, iTunes on Mojave, or through AppleTV. The Music app is now 1.1, so it finally restored the album artwork column in any list view.

pro tip install widows bootcamp in case you corrupt your partition, you can re format the corrupter ssd though windows. then though recovery disk utility you can format back to mac

As a guy not part of the Apple cosmos, I think it look mostly nice but a bit to blurry on the dock per default and icons as well as widgets remind me too much of an iPhone. I get it is Apple and I get that's part of the style but its something I couldn't stand with Windows 8 already, going too much for the mobile user base on the desktop.
Same here, I'm on a 13in Macbook Pro Mid-2012, and there is no reason it should not be supported with hardware acceleration as it supports Apple's Metal API, plus it was sold all the way through mid 2016 screwing over anyone who bought one late into its lifespan on OS support. DosDude1 to the rescue!! 🙏
Watching this on my daily driver, which is worlds apart from that MacBook. I have no intentions of going Apple, but it's interesting to see from the perspective of a life-time Windows user (who, admittedly, just recently got Windows 10 and a Panasonic Toughbook CF-31. As I said, my daily driver is about as different as it gets from that MacBook.)

No, google analytics is not fine. Firefox also disallows this by default, and most adblockers block it too. Also, there is a difference between blocking vs disallowing. Who knows what it’ll do to your analytics.
Yes. You can still change icons via the Get Info window. Select an app in the Finder, open Get Info, click on the app icon, and paste a new graphic on it. Disclaimer: I haven't tried this in Big Sur, but it works in every other macOS I can recall (to an extent)-even System 7.

As far as I know, VP9 was not available due to missing hardware support. Hence they would have to use slow software rendering.

One container has the root file system the other is user data. The root file system is mounted read only for safety
