I just got a reaper off my local craigslist for 300...my buddy came over the same night with a usa made tele with shawbuckers. Very nice playing and a beautiful guitar. my mind was blown when I realized the schechter played so much better.

I got a Reaper 7 and I love. I've barely touched my Jackson SLX since I got it. The neck in the Reaper is so smooth and comfortable, I can really feel the difference when ever I pick up my Jackson again. I have no complaints of my Reaper 7.
I have a Reaper 6 in Sky Burst. I was predominantly a classical guitarist that started playing a lot of blues so got a Gibson, then fancied playing some heavier stuff, so went on the hunt for a new guitar that could happily take the lower tunings, but still be good enough to play B.B King et al on. Long story short, I bloody love it, and really do struggle to put it down. Amazing playability and tone. And all for less than £800!!
Thank You for actually using the tremolo! So many people either won't use them, or cut the video immediately afterwards, so we can't see how it recovered. Otherwise, I have a Schecter Omen Extreme 6, and its the best guitar less than $400 i've ever played! Thanks for the content!
Just got to try this out at guitar center today. What an amazingly fast guitar. I know it’s in the hands but man when you’ve got a fast neck, it makes things so easy.
I bought mine 2 years ago. I was very impressed of how it was so comfortable playing. I also installed the killswitch engage fishman fluence pickups for it.
Your playing on the past couple videos has been...different. You have always played well in your videos, but recently, you are really playing some gold!
I have the apocalypse with the FR1500 pretty much the same guitar but with Stainless Steel frets and glow in the dark side dots. Also has the Swamp Ash body instead of just ash. I bought mine instead of a PRS Custom 24 SE and I have been extremely pleased with the sound and build quod mine!! Love it in fact!
Great review.....great guitar. The tones in my Reaper are stunning truly. Clean, light OD, rip your face off heavy OD, it does it all. Crazy good guitars for little money.
I don't blame you for going on a Schecter trip, they make amazing guitars. You should check out the diamond series too. Great review Max and enjoy the new axe.
I have a Reaper FR just like that one. I was hesitant to order it after several years of playing other mainstream guitars. I was amazed at the quality and playability of the Schecter Reaper. Hottest pickups I had ever played and it became my everyday, Go To guitar in a couple of weeks. I love it! Stays in tune and i rarely even have to tweek it. I have purchased two others since then and they are awesome also. Love your reviews and your skills are awesome!
Similar here. Had never had a Schecter and bought an Omen Elite 6 FR recently and am floored at how good it is for a "budget" guitar. It's so easy to play, feels so good, and sounds terrific. Crazy value in these Schecter...
The tone on this guitar sounds amazing, on some of the other guitars you have reviewed I havent been very impressed on the clean channel tones. But this one is a homerun for me.
I got the fr-s version, blocked the term for dive only and added a d-tuna, and it stays in tune for days! The 1500 trem is top notch with the stainless hardware and steel plate, and also gets a thicker sustain block. The fretboard is ebony btw! The fretwork and playability is easily that of a 2000+ guitar!
I've got an antique fade SLS Elite and a black Hellraiser. Great great guitars. HUGE band for the buck. The SLS has the Fishman modern pickups in it. I've been a huge EMG fan since the 90s, and these are a nice variation of the active theme.
Nice shredding Max! Just bought the hell raiser c1 sustainer in black cherry. Absolutely love it. Schecter guitars are very nicely made. Mine is flawless... And yes heavy.
I, myself, have a Damien Elite-7 that I got about 5-6 years ago and that thing is still going strong, no hiccups. They're great. All of my musician friends who play my 7 string like it instantly, so I don't get the hate that Schecter gets. Well, maybe I do if we look back at these old models from the early 2000's. Lol
This is the upper line from schecter just before you get into there USA made stuff that pretty pricy but still not as pricey as the others like PRS or Gibson custom shop. These South Korean made guitars are extremely well made and come ready to play!

I have Gibsons, Jacksons, BC riches, all US made, and I love them. Yet I also have about 16 schecters. Mostly C1 hellraiser with and without trem, and multiple colors of each. I just got my reaper six FRS elite yesterday. It plays better than all other 61 guitars. Hands-down. It feels like an old school. American made BC Rich or Jackson but still better for some reason. I love this thing. I have a hard time setting it down.
I don't own a Reaper, but I bought a Hellraiser Hybrid last year and I can say that you are spot on with your reviews. Schecters are wicked guitars! You can't get a better guitar with all the bells and whistles for that price.

I just got the Reaper 6 FR-S in skyburst (blue) for $940. I've only played it for a couple of hours yet, but I'm elated. It's my 3rd electric, with an old entry-level Charvel Charvette and a relatively new EVH Wolfgang Standard. The Reaper is just a beautiful, tight, sharp, well-designed, well-made instrument. The hardware is high quality, the Floyd Rose is extremely precise, the neck is fast and I can reach the upper frets no problem. The bridge pickup sounds fantastic to me. The Sustainiac is a blast, although I haven't quite figured out how best to use it yet. I paid $675 for the Wolfgang, and I like it a lot, but the Reaper feels like a very big step up in tone and quality.
Yeah, it's funny how when you pick up a guitar with a 14" radius jumbo fret thin C shape neck after playing ball bat necks for a while suddenly you feel like your fingers are supercharged. I have one of the older (2006) "bland" Schecter models, but it plays really really nice and sounds great too. Some of Schecter's "custom shop" finishes are giving "Kiesel/Carvin" a run for the "Bling" finishes crown, if that's what one is into. Personally I'm more about play ability myself. Shiny stuff just gets scratched anyway. Great video BTW. William C. central Indiana.
I've bought a C-6 pro by Schecter, almost the same as the Reaper but with a mahogany body. The sound of the pikcups was dark and muddy and had not such a high output so I returned it and was refunded. Then, I talked with people on the schecter Facebook group and they told me there was something strange with me having this kind of sound. Your demo with this reaper really makes me think I didn't have luck, there probably was a problem with the pickup on my C-6 pro. Anyway, I have ordered and kept and Damien Platinum, and eventhough its look is more classical, this thing is a beast ! It's my 5th Schecter and certainly not the last, I have my eyes on the C-1 Koa and the C-1 platinum in silver. All I can say, after trying several brands, is thet Schecter offers huge quality, impressive playability and killer sound for not that much money. Would you mind making a demo of the Schecter Apocalypse red reign ? I'd love to hear it on your Blackstar or your Bugera cos' I've got the same amps at home :)
Honestly the bulk of the pickups schecter uses i feel are muddy not a fan of emgs or active pickups. Have to have a battery to get that muddy sound or what? Lol but the pickups in these reapers are sweet
I know this is an old video! Idc! Because I too own a reaper6 frs!!..I got the blue one at the end of the video and I’ve never owned or played anything as elegant and smooth and precise! It’s a beautiful guitar though and though but it has a dark side to it! Pairing the Floyd and sustainiac was genius! ..you can track almost an entire horror flick with this thing...add a little reverb and delay and it almost feels like yiure in yer own horror movie! The versatility is unmatched in my opinion...I love everything about it other than the price tag and it don’t come with a case! Seriously..if u drop 1100 bones on a guitar it should immediately come with a hard case! That the only bitch I have about it...over 1100 bucks and no case! That’s the only bad part about it! Overall..this git will not disappoint! Again..a little over 1100 bucks stings quite a bit but once you actually hold this guitar and start playing it you will feel a little better about it.
For me I think that could be the coolest guitar you've reviewed yet. I can see what checks off all the boxes for you because it does for me too. Of course if I buy another guitar my wife's going to kill me.....lol
I've been looking to buy a new guitar and came across this review a few weeks ago. Tonight I went and purchased one at Sam Ash, they have to ship it to the store so I'm hoping it gets there quick!!
I like the looks of the Reaper a lot and it sounds great. I have the Schecter DJ Ashba model and it has a unique headstock as well and the sustainer and the floyd 1500 tremolo and a kill switch. I really love it, you should check it out if you get a chance.
Would be worth talking some more on the Floyd Rose . It’s basically a 1000 series but with upgrades by Schecter including stainless steel screws and locking nuts as well as the pop in trem. I just wish us lefties got that gorgeous blue version. Max ...the reaper or the charvel san Dimas for us lefties? Specifically for 80s hard rock/metal etc.
Glad to hear about the lefties. It is so frustrating to see these companies release guitars and just skip over our lefties. Fendeer's alternative reality and Jimmy Page series are only righties, and Ibanez S-Series doesn't have any lefties. By the way, I would like to see a review of the Pure Salem guitars, all of them have lefty versions and they are very unique in shape and pickup configurations. (Neck humbucker, bridge single coil, for example)
@@jamesglacken6170 hey dude i have a c-1 platinum i really like a lot. There's a reaper 6 that appears to be in very condition on my local CR... its listed at 400 with an amp and pedal and was going to offer just 300 for the guitar. In terms of feeling/playing different than the c-1 would it be worth it to get? Or it very similar?
They have the hardtail version of this on sale for stupid deal of the day at MF today. I ordered it. It will be my seventh Schecter. Their build quality and price for features is second to none. Get one while you can!
@@xcodychaosx I have several guitars with Floyd's so I was actually looking for a hard tail that I could easily experiment with different tunings. I'll get it Friday!
My buddy bought the C7 elite SLS and I was surprised at how well it played. It is so easy to play, and it just wants to shred. Schecter finally got their act together because they were making trash for a while.
Almost grabbed a reaper 6, ended up with the CR6, they were both the same price. The Reaper and the CR6 both come in the same three finishes. The aqua burst, the Aurora burst, and the charcoal burst. I ended up with the charcoal burst. The reaper has the decimator pickups and the cr6 has the apocalypse 2 pickups. I have always been intrigued by Schecter because I've always thought they put out some very nice looking guitars. Although, whenever I would pick one up, the necks just were never the right "feel" for me. So I just never bought one. I am a Jackson whore and kind of and Ibanez whore also I guess. But when I went into the Guitar Center a few weeks ago and I saw the cr6 I was blown away by the looks of it and so I had to pick it up and I did not want to put it down that is a sure sign that that is a guitar for me. The reaper was on a stand right next to the CR6 and of course I had to try that out as well, as pretty as it is, and again, like in the past with Schecter, I just did not like the feel of that neck. But I keep finding myself checking out videos on the Reaper. And perhaps I just grabbed one in that shop that wasn't properly set up? Because I am totally totally happy with my CR6 purchase! The pickups are very modern, articulate, not muddy, they have all the power you will ever need, they are super hot, yet they cut through the mix well. Also the thing is a hot rod. I definitely got the hardtail version I didn't want the Floyd Rose. Most of my guitars have double locking systems on them. The only other guitar that I have that doesn't is an LTD which has a tune-o-matic Bridge. So I never owned a guitar with a hardtail and I must admit this guitar is my favorite right now. It's so much fun to play! And it sounds so fucking awesome! My eyes have been opened to Schecter. What they are putting out for the price oh, the quality, craftsmanship and all the extras just can't be beat! Up to this point out of the 12 guitars that I own, my favorite and my go-to has always been my 2002, Jackson DK2 Pro. Not anymore. Yes, even at home, I still cannot put this Schecter down!
It seems CR-6 is not sold anymore. They replaced it with C-6 Pro which has Diamond Decimator pickup (same as Reaper) but retain the same body shape as CR6.
I have a Schecter - Loomis Signature Model (7-string / hardtail) = Awesome And a Schecter XXX Model (hardtail) = Awesome (plus the Stripper inlays) = Awesomely Awesome
I've just ordered a Schecter Reaper FR -S (Sustainiac) in Inferno Burst it will here by Friday so will definitely put up on You Tube an un-box and review once I've played with it a bit. So can't wait for it to arrive!
Very nice guitar. I almost bought one a few days ago, but instead ran across a killer deal on a like new 98 or 99 Ibanez RG with that Edge Trem, etc. Just great japanese quality and the price was soooo good I had to pull the trigger.
Hot Chops Max!A nice Sounding Axe!
Recently picked up a Strandberg and swapped EMG SA-81 really pleased with it
What does this have to do with the reaper?
You ripped it on that fiddle Max. Schecter is putting out some really good axes these days.
First and foremost a brilliant piece of playing max and a stunning looking and sounding guitar
George Nelson how do you like it so far?
SICK PLAYIN DUDE!!!Schecter makes great guitars.I have a Pete Dee Tele and the neck is super fast .very thin C neck.
I like the looks of the Reaper a lot and it sounds great. I have the Schecter DJ Ashba model and it has a unique headstock as well and the sustainer and the floyd 1500 tremolo and a kill switch. I really love it, you should check it out if you get a chance.
I have a Hellraiser Hybrid and just love it. Best guitar I've ever owned.
My next guitar for sure!
If I want a versatile guitar with the best build quality should I go with a Reaper, Banshee Ex or Hellraiser C1?
I'd get the reaper for the money there unbeatable. If money's not an issue get the c1
@@jamesglacken6170 so you think a c-1 platinum is better than the fixed trem reaper? I have both and I don't know which i like better.
They have the hardtail version of this on sale for stupid deal of the day at MF today. I ordered it. It will be my seventh Schecter. Their build quality and price for features is second to none. Get one while you can!
Legit saw that for like 450 a freaking steal but I be wanting a floyd so didnt jump at that one
@@xcodychaosx I have several guitars with Floyd's so I was actually looking for a hard tail that I could easily experiment with different tunings. I'll get it Friday!
Some nice Spanish sounding cleans, nice vibrato, knarly shred dude! 👍 Getting into Satch territory!
Man your voice is perfect for Batman. Please audition.
I just got my left-handed reaper delivered today. I have not messed with it yet.
My buddy bought the C7 elite SLS and I was surprised at how well it played. It is so easy to play, and it just wants to shred. Schecter finally got their act together because they were making trash for a while.
Peter Steele, he's alive!
@@zombie-survivor huh, weird, because of your comment, I looked it up and found them, still selling new for $699 with apocalypse II pick-ups.
If you can get it in translucent blue or translucent red I'm in
Definitely Blue !
Ibanez has had an RGD model like this Schecter for a while AND it has a blue burst. Only downside is no Edge/Floyd options are available
I just ordered a blue one today!!
What amp are you running through? Is it the Bugera in the back?
Max a Super Vid! TY The Reaper is a wood chopping MONSTER!!! What amp were you using?
Nice vibrato man!!
Very nice. Good tone too. Want one.👍😎🎸
I think it looks kind of like an Ibanez RGD model with a reverse Friedman guitar headstock
I got the Ibanez reaper guitar and its badass also
Great guitar, great player!!!
Thats my next guitar..with the sustainiac... shecter is on fire
My wife baught me the reaper 6 I love how it plays and sounds
well now i need the 6 string with the trem bar too
I have a Schecter - Loomis Signature Model (7-string / hardtail) = Awesome
And
a Schecter XXX Model (hardtail) = Awesome (plus the Stripper inlays) = Awesomely Awesome
I've just ordered a Schecter Reaper FR -S (Sustainiac) in Inferno Burst it will here by Friday so will definitely put up on You Tube an un-box and review once I've played with it a bit. So can't wait for it to arrive!
Got mine in today. 😍
I have a multiscale 7 string one
Hi, nice guitar and great sound. Greetings from Germany Detlev
Very nice guitar. I almost bought one a few days ago, but instead ran across a killer deal on a like new 98 or 99 Ibanez RG with that Edge Trem, etc. Just great japanese quality and the price was soooo good I had to pull the trigger. Might get one of those in the future though. Love reverse headstocks too. Have a Charvel and have had many others. Too cool
I'm also seriously considering buying an RG550. Hope you enjoy it.
@@shanewalton8888 I get it Thursday. RG 520qs . Just two humbuckers and no single coil which I prefer. Good luck on the 550
@@hoosierdaddy2308 Yeah I've always like the tone of the bridge middle pickup combo the fender strat has, so I would like the single coil there.
@@shanewalton8888 Yeah. Many people like that combo. I have another guitar for that. Also a Japanese Ibanez, but an S series which is a killer guitar too. 👍
@@hoosierdaddy2308 I'm a lefty, and Ibanez doesn't make a lefty S-series unfortunately.
Great review !
I plan to buy myself the "Schecter C-6 Pro FR" soon but I never had a guitar with a "floyd rose" and I heard many people say that the floyd rose "special hot rod" are not good or of poor quality
I would like to have your opinion or that of someone in the comments for more information
Traded an old 2002 EC -1000 for one of these. I definitely got a great deal!
