A small tip, you should have used 80 grit sandpaper and scuff the tile. So clean tile with a degreser, then scuff, then power wash and ensure floor is free from dust by running your bare hand across one or two tile. If your hand comes up clean your good to start with primer. The Reason for the sandpaper is you want your paint to have something to grab on to ITS ALL IN THE PREP WORK. But i did learn from your vid that oil base is the way to go thanks 👍
Looks great. I have a condo with some old tiles on my small deck. I’ve thought about having someone tear up the tile and get back to wood. But who knows how it looks as this was on when I bought the condo. Might try this first and see how it looks. If I’m not happy I can always remove tiles as I have been thinking.
Love your content ❤ Can the primer be tinted to match the paint color? Your results are beautiful- I’m so glad it has held up for you and isn’t slippery. Have you considered an updates video to show how projects have held up to daily life?
It can be tinted, but it’s not necessary. Thank you so much!!! It’s held up perfectly I’ve pressure washed it, drug planters across it, etc and no damage! It’s been years since I painted it. Highly recommend it!
Looks brilliant, ive been watching a load of these type of videos getting tips because I’m doing my own patio. Can anyone tell me why no one is using a paint sprayer?? Just as i have a couple of sprayers and thought i could use one to make it easier. Thinking twice about it now as everyone seems to be using a roller. 🤔 if anyone has any advise, would be much appreciated. Thanks
well - it's a year later but - you can use a sprayer if you want but it's probably less work to use a roller & brush as you dont need to mask up & have drop sheets alng the walls..
Does the oil based paint smell? The patio I want to paint is technically outdoors with screen walls around it and it's by the front door and close to windows, so I need something non-toxic.
Oil-based does smell! I recommend keeping your doors and windows closed, paint your way out the patio & go through a different door to get back inside!
We were worried about that too! It isn’t slippery, we even have a small dip in the center where rain collects, and it isn’t slippery there either. It honestly was more slippery when it was unpainted tile
@@NextJeneration Well that's good to hear! I hope ours holds up as well, it's been raining and I haven't been able to put on a second coat. So, fingers crossed everything goes well!!! Thanks for the reply ☺️
Looks like the day I painted it!!! We’ve had freezes, extreme heat (we live in the South) and 2 hurricanes. We also have lots of planters that I drag across the floor and it still held up perfect!!!!
It’s been one year and no issues! We get A LOT of rain here and extreme heats, so I’m impressed! There’s 1 tile where someone drug a super heavy metal heat press across it, and there’s a small line in the grey paint but it didn’t go through the primer!
oil base will last 2 weeks instead of the latex 1 week... you want real professional results... USE A 2 Part Epoxy paint... these 2 armatures will make you waste money
Front patio is pretty high traffic. Plus we get packages daily, have tons of potted plants that we move around, etc. 👍🏼 it’s ok to learn something new every one in a while!

Looks Great, especially with the white paint on the house. Have you thought about stenciling now. I’d like to try it. Thanks for the video, Robin

I did the same too and painting the floor is much easier. I just throw some paint in the floor and work my way into it
Great idea!

how is the patio floor paint holding up?
Still perfect!!!! No flaking or chipping. I’ve dragged planters across it too 🫣😂
Lol... you mean nap!!! I love you guys
Thanks am planning this for my patio its small so i hope it will be faster
Happy holidays 🙏❤️☮️
Looks great!! Were the original tiles sealed or pourous?
Porous!
I like UA-cam
Yes
Nice advice nicely presented. Thank you. :)
the hearth of my fireplace is made of the same kind of tile...I think I'm going to paint it....gray just like what you did.

Oil based is important for not only high traffic areas, but because it’s being used on the exterior.
Since it looked shiny, was it slippery after it rained?
We were worried about that too! It isn’t slippery, we even have a small dip in the center where rain collects, and it isn’t slippery there either. It honestly was more slippery when it was unpainted tile
I know it's only been 6 months but could you do an update on how this is holding up? I just did this to my front porch and I'm nervous lol
I did it before this was posted (last March) and it’s still in perfect condition! I drag planters across it all the time 😂 and no chipped paint!

So how does this stand up to frost and snow in the winter?
No idea, I live in the south where we don’t get snow!
Can you get a Matt finish in this paint?
I think so!
Amazing.. only one thing. Use blue tape to protect your wall
Yes, I explained that we’re having the brick painted so luckily I didn’t have to

@@NextJeneration excellent. Our primer has been down for a couple of days and I'm hoping we get our paint today to finish it off ☺
Good to watch
I couldn't stop staring at the guy's eyes and I'm not gay
😍
She said algae!! Its not a lake or a river!!!

Really?? Because it’s been 2 years and 0 chipping. I’ve also pressure washed it twice 😉😉
@@NextJeneration I"m calling BS :) or a very low traffic area...
