Awesome, this is the man i want to question. Ko4 stock has single oil feed line bearing and can it be interchangeable with the dural (twin) oil feeding bearings in either ko3 or ko4. I thought put a twin one into single oil feed line would kill the turbo, because the oil just pumped thru a big hole in the middle instead of creating a film around the bearing like the small hole(single feed) is that a true statement. Please explain.
question should i put loctite on the shaft when putting the nut back to its original position after marking it ? I see some sort of green marking on the shaft from factory.
Great vid! Thanks for sharing. I'm getting ready to rebuild my K04. I understand the shaft's balancing is very important. And I understand why you were careful to align the compressor shaft nut with the marks you made during disassembly. So did you disregard any "torque spec" on the nut and instead merely re-align the marks? Or did you use a torque wrench to apply a certain torque? I can see how the two might conflict. That is, aligning the marks may not give you the exact torque spec you aimed at. What are your thoughts?
Do you have to re balance the compressor after the rebuild? Ive seen some threads online claiming that needs to be done otherwise can cause off axis and compressor fins break into intake manifold.
Ryan Mayer Rebalancing is always recommended when removing the compressor wheel from the turbine shaft. That being said the location of the nut/compressor wheel in relation to the turbine shaft can be marked with a scribe before disassembly leaving the unit as balanced as it was from the factory.
Hey bud.. do u know abt ppl upgrading the k03s with k04 compressor wheel or something.. or vice versa.. to gain a few hps.. im not sure what exactly.. was hoping u can shed some light on what parts r needed
+MR CT NGUYEN Sorry for the delay. You can absolutely upgrade the K03 turbine to K04. ua-cam.com/video/n92p0gFb4UU/v-deo.html This guy knows his stuff. If you go to the website TURBOLABSAMERICA I believe those guys can mill your housing to accommodate many different wheels.
MR CT NGUYEN You probably want to upgrade to the K06 Tubine and matching Compressor Housing. Go to www.turbolabofamerica.com and shoot those guys an email. They are very knowledgeable about upgrading the K03.
Great very well done. Very informative. Thanks
so this is how those ebay versions are made haha , cool vid dude!!
A gentleman on Ebay had 5 of the factory exhaust housings.

You HAVE to watch this on x1.5 speed.
Good video though.

I aligned the mark as the torque spec.
Does anyone have an idea where I could get a cartridge for the k03 instead of this?
How do your get the turbo apart again if ever need to with all that rtv gasket maker on it.
Light pressure will break the bond.
Hey im wondering do i have to get these rebalanced if i take it apart?
Mark everything with a paint marker and put it back the same you'll be fine.
