Hi Stephen, thanks for the idea! I would need to borrow the 76D from my buddy Mark again but I'll see if I can make it happen! I could do the Stam and Bluey for sure as I still own those 2 👍🏼
Hey! My primary 1176 compressor is a Stam ADG. I really like having the 3 different modes in one unit to conserve rack space. The 76D is cheaper than the ADG and is much easier to get as far as wait times go so that is definitely something to consider. I borrowed this 76D from my friend Mark Kano to make the video so I never actually owned one, but it was very impressive and if I didn't already own the ADG I would have bought one for sure! I hope that's helpful, thanks for taking the time to watch, it's much appreciated!
When do you reach for a 1176 style comp on vocals? Style of song or vocal type or both determine this for you? Hope your health is improving. Thanks for the videos!
I really like tracking vocals through an 1176 to have the control the speed they have offers and then hit it with something more vibey in the mix like a vari mu. Having said that, if you have a vocal that is already pretty thick tone wise(maybe tracked through a 47 style mic) then an 1176 can be perfect to help it focus and cut through where a vari mu comp in that case may be too much of a good thing. An 1176 is versatile enough to use it on pretty much any vocal. It may not be my #1 choice on a vocal in a mix but it never seems to not work. It can actually be a lot more subtle than some people realize with a slow enough release.
It's a great compressor! Very versatile and lots of good character/vibe. Check out the full review here if you'd like to hear it on more sources: ua-cam.com/video/pVzixCbtR14/v-deo.html
They are VERY different. For tracking, I would vastly prefer the 76D. For mixing, most times I would want the extra character of the Bluey, but it doesn't always work. It really just depends on how aggressive of a sound you're looking for. With the 76D, I feel I could always make it work...with the Bluey when it works it will be something extra special but there are times where it is just too much(the wet/dry blend really helps out here though).
That sounds on point man
It's crazy good, especially at that price! Thanks for checking out the video 👊🏼
Thank You Josh! Your channel is a hidden gem! Thank you for all detailed information you provide here! I wish your channel a grouth!
Thank you so much for your kind words about the channel! I’m so glad you’ve found useful content here.
Sounds good!
Yeah, it's so great to have gear that sounds like this in this price range!
I like it! May I know what was the recording vocal chain?
@MarkKanoMusic, can you recall the vocal tracking chain on this one? Thanks!
Thanks a lot from Taiwan
Wow, Taiwan, that’s awesome! I’m so glad you enjoyed the video! I really appreciate you taking the time to watch.

@@SeawellStudios would be perfect
Hey buddy! In 2024 (almost 2025 now) - are you happy with this unit as a primary 76 compressor? Would you recommend it still?

Have you compared it to the 1176ln?
Unfortunately I haven’t gotten a chance to do that.

What are your thoughts on the 76d audioscape ?

Do you prefer this over the BLA Bluey?

Should’ve put blue one on vocal
This particular demo was using the 76D only so it may have been a little weird if I put the Bluey on the vocal 😁
