Oligohydramnios results from several causes like uteroplacental infufficiency , preterm premature leakage of mamnranes or due to certain renal abnormalities or it might be the effect of certain drugs as well. POOTER SYNDROME among several different fetal anomalies is very important to understand for an obstetrcan and gynaecologist. Those features are well explained here in this video.

In one of my clinical rotations in pedia, I was able to attend to a patient with unilateral renal agenesis. Fortunately, the patient survived. Does having only one kidney count? Or does it have to be both? Thank you.

Unilateral can function normal since the other kidney compensates but can lead to renal hyperplasia or renal htn due to over load in the long run
