Here is some support that bp medication has ZILCH effect on stroke risk. The framingham data was modeled with a dummy variable for on/off bp medication: At a given bp level, being on medication raised the stroke risk. In other words, just making the bp look prettier had no effect. Ie bp is an indicator of blood vessel damage, not the other way around. Stroke Risk Profile: Adjustmentfor Antihypertensive Medication The Framingham Study [see bp vs risk graph], 1994 This is really a smoking gun. Not that the authors noticed.
