@@mvwoon Aug 14, 2002 Petty and Jackson Browne. It was sadly the last time I got to see Tom and the Heartbreakers. I marveled at the audiences age gap. Kids to old Farts all singing every word to every song. That's how meaningful and amazing they were. Food for the soul :) My favorite is Even the Losers. Take care!
Tom&J.Geils weekend, Cape Cod Coliseum. Tom with the Outlaws at the old Garden. The Stand, the greatest stand ever, at the Fillmore. Oh, and the charity concert in Mtn View. Thank you Tom, Mike, Benmont, Stan and Ron. The first Heartbreakers album was itself an American Girl. It stole our hearts, and made my youth. I love Mike's twangy rockabilly sound. Godspeed to the great, the one&only, Tom Petty.
Saw them in Toronto last year. One of the best shows (and I’ve seen hundreds) ever. I saw Tom Petty the last time he came through as well. This was epic!
Mike - it's been 6 years - The heartbreakers are TOO GOOD of a band to not be playing / touring together. Do a Petty Tribute Tour and have Eddie sing., wth!!! It's a no brainer. You will sell out stadiums across the country. Queen did it. One Tour. Bring Petty's music to life with The heartbreakers
I will absolutely not miss MC and the Dirty Knobs this year. Caught them two years ago in Detroit. They could play at the biggest venues. This recording doesn't do it justice.
I agree. Maybe at some point they will because mike sounds so similar to Tom. It’s amazing looking back that Mike never sang with the heartbreakers. He seem like such a great down to earth rock star. God bless him.
See my earlier post - case in point. The Tempo speeds up at at 5:18 mark. wtf!!!! The Knobs are not the Heartbreakers. Stop with the "oh, we cannot play without Tom." The heartbreakers are too good of a band to stop touring together. last I checked it was called Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers. Well - The heartbreakers need to keep touring!!!!!
Yep!… Crappy PA system balance, unmetered vocals & shitty music EQ often happens during live club performances. Why!… I tell you all why… Because only too many bands never perform a pre- concert sound system check from the stage to the front, middle & back row of any concert hall, club, stadium etc. The audio signals in the back row is every bit as important as the audio signals in front & middle rows of any concert setting. This is usually caused by incompetent sound engineers & inefficient audio equipment technician's. Any bands sound is only as good or bad as the real time live performance EQ metering within a givin' area how ever big or small. All professional t.v., radio, concert hall, news stations, public address etc. All stations always properly EQ their signal to noise ratio & broad cast signal strength regions before any broad cast event. Well, a music concert is no different. In short, crappy audio engineering and signal EQing will always deliver a crappy live signal to noise ratio within a given live performance area. Yep!… and thats the name of that tune.
@@smmst80 I never knew that thank you so much for educating me I find that to be really interesting and a great reason to answer the question I had as well
I've sacrificed both my ears & a better mix, by standing as close to stage as possible, for many decades...there's a price for that prospective. Then there's the smothering mob.
All Mr. Campbell really needs is a good stylist and maybe a voice coach to convince him to sing his own song. Tommy's in all our hearts but, hey, man, even I know not to try to sound like him. Karaoke sux and so do TP covers, for the most part. But Mike does have balls and a good heart. And he should stay the hell away Fleetwood Mac & corporate soft rock!🍾🎸🎶
Love ya' Mike.... BUT, that whole "Tom Petty Thing" is definitely OVER !!!! The music (See "Blackberry Smoke" Covers) will live-on forever... Try to make "Fleetwood Mac" sound great and find a cool group to play lead in.... We've got a Garage Band of Lawyers & Carpenters here in Friday Harbor that do Tom petty Covers better than the "Dirty Knobs".... Your guitar sound for 40+ years in the Heartbreakers will always be special in Music History....
Tom Petty era never over. The other main players still here and most Mike co wrote with Tom he has a voice and sings them with the sam “Southern Accent “
@@johnbrandt7024 Listened again... Drums too loud, vocals/Mikes guitar not loud enough, hopefully they're better live than this amateur recording... You REALLY like Mike's voice ??
Still tear up when I hear any Tom Petty tunes and Mike and his music bring tears to my eyes😢❤
So loving Mike and the wonderful knobs ❤ I miss Tp everyday but thankful for Tom and these talented knobs 😮😂😊
Still missing Tom Petty but Mike Campbell keeps it real.
Just love hearing Mike sing. Tom is watching over and so friggen proud !!!
Yes he is!
@@teresa157 Are you wearing a thong?
Sounds so much like Tom
and JJ Cale is watching from the back

Mike was so big with Petty. He clearly took mental notes with Tom's stage presence.
Good show! Will see them again in August.
You will always be one of my favorite guitarists Mike. Said with love from Indiana :)

Wild how similar Mike and Tom sound
Yeah, who knew? Not me.
Makes one wonder if we weren't listening to Mike all these yrs...
The heartbreakers were a legit band with or without Tom.
Are their voice boxes related
It’s amazing. I never heard Mike speak all of the years I was listening to TP & and the Heartbreakers, so I had no clue.
I miss tom petty every day
Me too - every hour
One of my all time favorite TP&HBs songs. ever since I first heard back in the 70's on an 8-track :)

I kind of dig this more than the Heartbreakers. Focuses more on the rock, no piano, no sad love songs
That's how it's done 👍
He's wearing shades but I bet he tears up when he sings Tom's songs. I know I am.
U got one coming ...if you dont leave him alone ..

That’s why I left the intro in. He’s funny
Mike that was awesome!!
Thanks!
Very glad you did.

I hope the knobs dont give mike 2 much "dope and whiskey " .there is only one Mike Campbell
Love Mike and his skills on the guitar...his headgear?...not so much!...LOL!
Single and ready to mingle - 🤣😂
I heard this song was about Icke Turner trying to steal Tom's first wife.
I heard it was Rick James! I don’t think it was that at all. Let’s remember to ask Tom next time we see him! 🎸❤️🎶😇😢

Balance is wayyyyyy off Vocals way to Low, music overrides it !!!!
It's hard to record right from the front since the PA system is really aimed at the rest of the room

Do you think Mike Campbell is aware of just how 'obscene' the name 'Dirty Knobs' sound in British English, where 'knob' is slang for the penis?
I believe that was the idea.
Of course he knows. That’s why they chose that icky name.
Great job of playing a recording and not singing or picking.
When Tom died, Mike should have stepped off to a writing and production mode.
Joel agreed. Not digging this.
