If Only the publishing house folks would restore , remaster and rerelease this gems in digital form... this is the Cogic sound everyone misses so dearly... how is it supposed to return if not many are exposed to this? A digital rerelease should do the thing ... it may have no autotuning... cool synths... drum machines.. funky rhythms ... but this was the sound that Dr.Clark developed , and subsequently became COGIC’s signature sound ... it’s just like a language... without any preservation, it’ll just fade away as the last people who had the chance to sing in Dr.Clark’s choirs pass away in the future
Man I do not know where you could have possibly found this song but I am happy you did.My choir back in New Orleans use to sing this when I was a kid and I am 44 years old now. This is real gospel which is not sung anymore all of the popular gospel music nowadays is sung mostly by these guys who are sashaying across the stage and all of their songs sound alike.
These are the type of songs and sound that needs to be brought to COGIC with a quickness! Our sound seems to be....gone....😓😓😓
Brings back wonderful memories of the Convocation especially the "Back Home Hour" musicals. As youngsters we would often skip the main service to get a good seat at Mason Temple or the Chisca Hotel for the midnight musicals. Great picture of Dr. Clark!
And the slideshow is beautiful. Great job!
Well dome
WOW.....I felt the spirit half way through it
It actually says:
When I’ve done down here the best I can do
And there’s no one else that I can turn to
(Repeat)
I want to hear Him say (3x)
I want to hear the Lord say, I just want to hear the Lord say
Good and faithful servant(2x)
Well done (3x)
you left out one word, "when I've DONE down here the best I can do"
Whoops
LOL the Holy Ghost wasn't done, Dr. Clark kept goin on. I love these vintage COGIC International Mass Choir recordings from past Convocations
I just now realized that Bishop Crouch was telling the choir to stop singing. lol. "Stop, Stop, Stop, Well Done Now" rotfl. Madame Wigley know she betta' SANG!!!
YES, THIS IS VINTAGE I LOVE IT!
Dr. Mattie Moss Clark kept directing. She was being directed by the holy ghost.lol. Love Dr. Clark :)
Only part I'm sure of is "I want to hear the Lord say, I just want to hear the Lord say, "Good and Faithful Servant Well Done"
Yes I am well done
Lord, have mercy....
I'm confused as to the lyrics - can someone break them down? I've searched all over Google and these lyrics do not exist! I'm sure of hearing the choir say, "I want to hear the Lord say, I just want to hear the Lord say, 'Well done.'," and hearing former COGIC National VP Mattie Wigley sing, "I've been buked and I've been scorned, and I've been talked about since I've been born." That's all I'm positive of. Anybody else know what else is being said?
try searching for GMWA well done 1972 ... most of the lyrics are understandable
Good and faithful servant, good and faithful servant, well done, well done. If there is a COGIC bookstore pick up a hymnal, it’s possible that song is in there and the book will be a treasure to you.
What album was this song on
Can i have the lyrics please some one
@tomasharris is that Twinkie on organ?
Yes
Yes, twin!
@whatuwatchingjoe Not certain. My guess is that it's Bishop Samuel Crouch.
@iluvdorinda Yeah, it sounds like Bishop S. M. Crouch to me too.
nice
Can someone provide the words for me?
When I've done the best, the best I can do. And there's no one else that I can turn to, I want to hear Him say, I want to hear the Lord say, good and faithful servant well done. I've been buked and I've been scorned, I've been talked about sure as you're born, when I reach my heavenly home, I want to hear Him say servant well done!
