  • Footpegs are an important component on a motorcycle! After Jason snapped off one of the stock foot pegs on his Suzuki V-Strom 650 while scaling the infamous Cinnamon Pass on the Trans-America Trail, he went searching for a better mouse trap. While considering several cheaper options, he kept circling back to the durability, versatility, and design of the SW-MOTECH On-road/Off-road Footpegs. Knowing that Chris uses the same ones on his CB500X helped seal the deal on this well-known brand name. Not only are the SW-MOTECH pegs wider than the stock ones, they also offer two height options, and an easy conversion for on-road or off-road use. In this video, Jason demonstrates the installation of his new pegs.

    DESCRIPTION:
    The TransAmerica Trail is a patchwork of fire roads, farm roads, dirt trails, and scenic byways that transects America from the Atlantic coast in the east, to the Pacific coast in the west. Check out the map at: tinyurl.com/yb....
    Excellent maps and GPS tracks for the TransAmerica Trail are available through Sam Carrero at www.transamtrail.com and GPS Kevin at www.gpskevinadventurerides.com.
    Joining me on this journey are my good friends Jason Bennett of www.docentprodigy.com and Steve Roos of www.ashcraftstudio.com. Having three photographers on one trip could be interesting! How many times would we have to stop to "get that shot"? Would we ever make it to our destination?!? I'll be doing the bulk of the filming along the way. As with my Moto Photo Mexico trip, Jason will be using his mad skills as the video editor for the Moto Photo TAT. If you haven't seen it, check out my adventure through Mexico at: tinyurl.com/y9.... Aside from his photography skills, Steve will be providing his big personality and fun sense of humor for comedic relief!
    We hope you'll join us and follow along on this epic journey!

      @@MotoPhotoAdventures we seem to. Hey Chris was curious if you've upgraded your suspension at all? I've been thinking about it front springs and what have you. I do know there's lots of other brands out there besides rally raid but I don't know if they're any better or what I should go with any ideals what you would go with? Some of the ones I was thinking about are..Wilber, YSS, and Ohins

      @@DollyAndFamilyGetOutAndRide this is getting weird...how much we think alike and all...HAHA!!! Seriously though, I went through ALL these exact same questions a few months ago. I talked to a lot of my other CB500X friends as well. And here's what turned out to be the BEST DECISION I've made in modifying my bike!!! I only wish I'd done this sooner. Same! When we were driving away, I was hearing my chain making some noise (replaced it later) but I totally forgot that we had just put on the new pegs. When we got to the next destination, Chris asked me how they were, I couldn't say. That's a good thing, LOL.

    I put the same set on my 2016. I was really disappointed in how the pegs are canted forwards. Fine when sitting down and riding like it's a sport bike, but absolutely hateful when standing up in technical stuff.
    I also couldn't put the pegs in the lower position because I found the mount prevented my feet from tucking in close to the bike.
    Overall, the pegs are an improvement from stock, but if I was doing it again, I would look for a different aftermarket brand.

      Thanks for your feedback! That's really interesting to hear, since I find them very comfortable to stand on all day. But everyone's ergonomics are different. So it's good to hear they didn't work so well for you. I'm not sure SW-Motech makes this particular model anymore. Hopefully they've improved things with the current models. Cheers!

Can you tell me if the mount can be installed on both side to have different lean angle or if they do have R/L position?? Because it seems so reading the installation manual! thanks

    • @MotoPhotoAdventures
      @MotoPhotoAdventures  3 роки тому +2

      We tried and it didn't work. We thought that would be a really smart thing for manufacturers to do...use the same mounting hardware for passenger pegs! But unfortunately, no such luck. :-( He limped his bike down off the mountain with one toe on the broken bracket. Luckily we found a small town with a guy that could weld it so he could get home safely.
