    Thanks for another great video. Please ignore the internet experts/critics/know it all’s; they don’t realize the idea is to inspire us to not be afraid of doing our own maintenance. Which you have done. Thanks again.

    Loose chain hopped off my rear sprocket earlier today heading to work; found this video while waiting for a tow truck. Got new parts on the way and think I can get this done thanks to you guys! Ride safe

    You did good Jason, and yes, it's not easy to wrench and and explain things as you work especially when your concentrating on doing it correctly.

    As a UA-cam Certified, FaceBook Forum educated mechanic, I too "can repeat the things I read!" lol On my KLR, I ended up needing an impact wrench to get the nut off of the front sprocket (I had the bike in gear, on the ground not sure of any other way with spoked wheels). Shifted to neutral when I put it on the lift. Also since I wasn't saving the old chain, I used bolt cutters to break the old chain.

      Ha! right? Ah spoked wheels, didn't think of that one since i don't have them. Thanks for watching!

    I would have used blue lox tight on the 5 nuts holding the rear sprocket and some anti seize on the front sprocket threads. Great camera work, I could really see what was going on.

      @Jason_MotoPhotoAdventures 3 роки тому +2

      Thanks for the comment, Steven. I thought about the lock tight, asked some buddies, averaged the responses, went without it. Never considered the anit-seize...but next time I will. Thanks for the heads up! Make sure to subscribe and like the video!

    Nice video. Just curious though, why not grease the rear axle when you reinstall it?

    • @MotoPhotoAdventures
      @MotoPhotoAdventures  2 роки тому +2

      Hi Walker! By all means, it is good practice to use a light coat of grease on your axle when you reinstall it. It not only helps the install go smoother, but also helps protect it from rust and corrosion. Remember, when shooting these videos, we can't possibly cover every single detail or they would be too long. Follow your owner's manual for additional details.

    Just wasted money replacing a front and rear sprocket that wasn’t with that much west from a dry rusty chain. Keeping your chain oiled will see you get at least 2-3 chain replacements before replacing the sprockets.

    Nice job and thanks for sharing. I suspect the manufacturers use 2 different sized nuts/bolts is because most socket sets come with one of each size socket and if you use the 24mm socket on one side, then you still have the 22mm for the other side. Right?

    • @stevenpeck5949
      @stevenpeck5949 3 роки тому +2

      You might have two different sockets, but does your socket set have a second handle to hold the socket?

    • @kasperkjrsgaard1447
      @kasperkjrsgaard1447 3 роки тому +2

      I believe that most socket sets contains three handles.
      But on the DL 1000 there’s a cutout in the chain adjustment plate so only one socket is needed.

    gday mate is that a seeley chain remover ?i had a brand new one ready to do a chain swap in spring 3 months ago was stolen from my shed never even got to use it , i do a lot of this stuff on my own on the 500x and those spacers and brake bracket are a pain soon as i saw it i thought heres fun , best way ive found is i get a ratchet strap and use it to lift the wheel into place while keeping an eye on those spacers not falling out .

      You can cut a piece of 4” wood in a slope to lay under the wheel so when you have to put the wheel back on you just roll the wheel “uphill” until the axle will fit.
