Andy’s guitar is the backbone of Duran Duran’s music and kept them from sounding just like any other 80s synth band. The 5 of them made magic together- and I’m glad they’ve reconnected
Agreed
Agreed, but DD's synth were more about creating a feeling or an ambiance which made their sound distinctive.
Check out the magic created by all 5 original band members on their new track Black Moonlight.
Absolutely!
Exactly right. He was the backbone in the beginning and indeed the wildcard that separated them away from their contemporaries, especially here in the U.S. I would’ve loved to hear that album that would become Notorious had he been fully involved. Especially after the two singles of Wild Boys, AVTAK and Power Station album with his guitar playing becoming much more rockier. I honestly think he just hated arguing and battling with Nick Rhodes on top of what else he was going through at the time with the drugs and fatigue and all that.
Happy Birthday Andy!
Hope you are doing well...
❤❤❤
Andy is the real deal. His guitar playing made DD the unique sound that they became. It has to be the original 5 to TRULY sound like the original & iconic version of DD.
Also, he produced Belinda's smash solo hit Heaven is a place on earth that still sounds great 36 years later.
His solo album THUNDER still gives me chills. Even ANGEL EYES the single/B side to Take it easy....no vocals just WOW. Keep goin ANDY ! We got you.
Great album.
It makes me so happy to hear that he's still with Tracey ❤
His new album leaves everyone who listens to it speechless.
As I've been saying since I've had it: it's too good to be true.
I just found it last week. Not at all what I was expecting, but it is a great album.
A superb interview! 🔝👍👏
Happy birthday, Andy!!! 🎉🥃🎂🍀🍾
Stay strong! 💪🫶✌️
Sending you tons of hugs and lots of good vibrations!!! 🫂🤩🥳
Always been underrated. Dare i say even by Duran fans?
I would absolutely agree with that. Not trying to disparage anything that happened after he left musically, but I’ve never felt the same about Duran album as I did with those early ones that he was a part of.
I'm finally seeing Duran Duran next week and I have mixed feelings. It's not the same without Andy. I did get to see Power Station in 1985. My first concert.
I was lucky enough to see the 5 of them play on the Astronaut tour. He's so incredibly talented. They all are. (I saw them at the beginning of Sept.)
What an absolute trooper Andy Taylor is!!
onwards and upwards, mate.
I've been in love with Andy for 40 years! ❤
Me too 🥰🥰
Me too !
You probably have a husband and still think about Andy. )) Does he know that you love him? I'm a new fan and i fell in love with him too, and i fell in love with some other famous musicians as well. And via social media i let them all know that i love them. Unfortunately i can't contact Andy, he's unavailable now. And stopped posting at all. So i can't say that i love him. But i worry about his health and keep asking Duran Duran on their pages to give us any updates about Andy and his health.
God Bless Andy Taylor and his family. I hope we get many more years of great work from him, whether solo, or back with Duran Duran.
I remember hearing one of the coolest compliments given to him from another musician, Dee Snyder on Dee Snyder's House of Hair. He introduced a song by Thunder (I believe that was a band founded by Andy Taylor), and Dee said: "I always suspected Andy was a headbanger at heart!"
I'm glad Andy Taylor is doing great health wise god bless you Andy ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
This made me cry. It's so sad. So thankful for the treatment he's getting to extend his life, we can't lose him yet. Andy WAS the core of DD, I don't care what anyone says. I've always been an "Andy girl" so to speak. He's been my favorite since I was 11 years old, I"m 53 now. So glad he has his family and their support. LOVE YOU ANDY!!
Loved Andy in Duran Duran and now! He looks and sounds fantastic! Continued good health Andy! Fantastic interview! xo
When I first heard Andy with Duran he inspired me to be a professional Guitarist. God bless I love you Andy X
As a 67 y/o and a huge fan of D-D, I'm so delighted to see and hear Andy! Jayne, please send him my best for health, love and making many memorable moments in my life back in the early '80's! Cheers and a big hug! Wonderful video.
What a beautiful person. A real gentleman. His new album is that, music made by someone who loves what he plays for people who loves music. And the result is absolutely fantastic. You can feel that in every single note.
It is so rich musically that I still can't believe he could make such an amazing album. Well I knew he could but it just goes beyond all.
Congratulations Andy and thank you for giving your fans that gift.
And God bless Christopher Evans.
Love him so much
A great interview. Andy definitely added the pepperoni to the Duran Pizza. His guitar work with them is under-rated and yes, there really wasn’t any other band that sounded like them. They took their influences from the pistols, Chic, Roxy and Japan and made something of their own that had a different edge.
The Forum gig Andy mentions, wasn’t the first gig after reuniting in 2002. They had a run of gigs in Japan, THEN they returned to London and played that gig. I was there and it was an incredible gig. I only wish it had been recorded.
As sad as it was that he couldn't attend the RRHOF, it basically saved his life. He would probably be gone now otherwise and I can't even think about that. I love him SO much.
I love all versions of Duran Duran. ❤❤❤ love the sound of Andy’s guitar , always .
The Best 4ever!
Fantastic interview of a fantastic legend! Love the new solo album, hoping there are many more to come! Also very much looking forward to Andy’s contributions on the upcoming Duran Duran album.
Andy Taylor rocks!
Andy Taylor gud luck with ya album ive got it 🎉🎉🎉prince i luv him he was amazing epic and i was at the forum bloody awesome amazing epic brilliant and then i went to the aftershow party memories which i will never forget and last thing im glad to see your are back on Duran Duran new album cant wait die hard Duranie fan since 1981 and now 54 still a die hard Duranie 🎉🎉🎉 cheers 🥂🥂🥂
If it isn't the original line-up it ain't Duran Duran. Andy's absence from the band has proven this point time and again. I hope his health improves immeasurably and he's with us for many more decades to come.
Andy is epic
There is also a Bowie reference on the back of the new album. "To be played at maximum volume" is a nod to The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars album where that phrase can also be found. Cancer is a terrible disease, and Andy Taylor is a brave man because he is dealing with a stage 4 diagnosis. I lost a good friend to cancer in June 2022. He phoned me in late April 2022 and stated that he had stage 4 cancer in his liver, throat, and adrenal glands. His physicians stated that he had about 2 years to live, but his cancer was so aggressive that he died less than two months after his diagnosis.
Fantastic guitarist
I've been saying back then, I will say it now: Duran Duran wasnt/isnt the same without Andy. He is the cherry on the top, those riffs very well blend with Rhodes sounds and John's groovie bass lines. Every time he wasnt there with them I missed that extra kick, that important spice.
Please stay strong mate, would like to see you once again live.
Beautiful Andy! What an absolutely wonderful interview❤
Incredibly underrated guitarist. Brought grit and soul to DD. Still love that live solo on Duran's cover of the late Steve Harley's 'Make Me Smile'. The 'angry' guitar on 'Hungry Like The Wolf' also still thrills.
What a brilliant interview!!! This completely made my year.❤
Great interview. Love Duran Duran. I wish Andy the best with his health issues ✨
Wishing Andy ALL OF THE BEST!
I love you Andy❤
I absolutely love this album. It's one that I listen to multiple times. Many albums lately are good, but I don't want to hear them multiple times and I'll skip over songs.
Well done Andy!! It's an album I put on repeat and enjoy it more the second and third time.
I love him so much still my love for him will never end ,❤
Yeah, I've been at that gig he talks about towards the end, this career highlight thing and I feel the same. That moment in 2003 was the best DD moment of my fandom.
I was able to see him perform with Duran Duran back in 2003 at the Hard Rock in Las Vegas. Those tickets sold out in such a short time, and I remember how all five members came out on stage and just stood there as flashing cameras made the venue look like there was a strobe light turned on somewhere. The band then began with "Friends of Mine" and the place erupted.
@@johnlopez3996 I meant exactly that situation. The start with the five of them just standing there (in Berlin, Columbiahalle, rather small venue). If memory serves, this was their first reunion gig.
@@lconn39that was the “astronaut” release show, I was there too. At that time they were already touring more than a year.
@@LaFucinaStudioMix I'm pretty sure though that the first reunion gigs of the 5 were not in 2002, but in 2003.
@@lconn39 not 2002 but spring 2003 in Japan. So on October 2004 was more than a year.
To me-Duranx2 is always-John, Simon, Andy, Roger and Nick-always! Wishing Andy all the best and wish he gets back to being part of Duran Duran..i can wish.
Andy I am so happy for you! This is wonderful news! When I first heard the news about Stage 4, I felt sick to my stomach 🤢💔 I have been a major fan of yours since I bought Thunder when I first came out. Kick ass hard rock bluesy music! Night train baby! I heard another great song of yours Take it Easy this morning on the car radio! Listening to your music brings back a ton of great memories.😁 I am definitely buying your new album. 😁 Take care 😊
LEGEND!
lovely guy
Stunning recovery. My uncle needs this nuclear medicine badly has cancer. 🙏
Love Andy
Glad his health is better.
It would be awesome to see Andy with the rest of Duran doing a U.K. tour in 2024
Grande Andy 🎸🎸🎸❤️
Andy’s riffs in Duran were great, polar opposite to Nick in many ways but it worked for the band. Great to see him back with the album also with Duran Duran - the band of the 80s..
I love you Andy
Andy u the best...🎉
I saw Duran Duran on their first US tour in Hollywood at the Roxy Theatre. The local alternative station KROQ was playing Girls on Film and Planet Earth on the regular. This was before Rio and they were supporting their debut album. They had a trio of dancers open the show we were using body paint to appear reptilian. (Two guys and a topless girl).
It was a great show and they actually ran out of songs to play because so many encores were demanded by the audience..... I think they played the Girls on Film (Night Version) as the final encore.
I remember reading in the Los Angeles Times the music critic Robert Hilburn does analyzing all the New Wave and New Romantic bands that were coming out. I remember he said that he believed that Duran Duran had the best chance at long-term success because they had a Rock and Roll guitar underpinning their sound...he was spot on.
I saw Duran Duran live couple of other times (Long Beach Arena & The Forum) but that first show was always my favorite. I also have really enjoyed Andy's solo albums and his work with Rod Stewart and The Power Station.
I'm so glad his treatment has been so effective. My sister-in-law is dealing with stage 4 lung cancer and she is receiving some innovative treatments, too so I'm quite sympathetic to his situation.
This interview is a JOY ❤
This is an awesome interview - Thanks so much for talking to him. I don't know how Jayne kept it together.
This is good . Very, very good.
Great interview. Loved it. I was at that Forum show he referred too! Never forget it ❤
Great interview, thank you.
Great interview. I just wish it was another couple of hours longer.
Excellent interview
Hope he will get over with the cancer….
❤❤❤
🌠 He Mite Lie..when he looks into your eyes..he could love 2 u till forever..but forget that ..he's wearing sunglasses..(song reference)..but seriously ..Glad your doin better Andy
Would love to see Andy show how he does what he does on guitar on UA-cam ;)
Great interview
I've seen Duran Duran 3 times ,but never with Andy. That saddens me 😞
I saw them twice in the 80s with Andy. I won't see them without Andy.
@@kellyanderson7624 I'm very jealous!
ANDYNO..❤❤❤...LUI NN È REALMENTE MAI USCITO DAI DD..NOI LO ASPETRAVAMO...ORA IL SUO DUSCO LO INQUADRO COMUNQ0UE COME UN PEZZO ..UN QUINTI DELLA0 GENIALITÀ DURANIANA....😂😂😂❤❤❤
Please turn up the volume.
wow
Duran must miss him. I do.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
For years in Rock Music, it's been a running gag that nobody cares about the bass player.
However, certain bassists like Motley Crue's Nikki Sixx and Duran Duran's John Taylor are the exceptions to the rule.
Personally, I fail to grasp why so many women still drool over John Taylor. In his John's memoir, he mentioned that he had sex with so many Duranies that he caught CRABS early on in their career.
John and his father had to help him dispose of his bed sheets so that his mother wouldn't find out.
Obviously, it's a double standard. Had John been any ordinary guy with a history of catching CRABS, no SANE woman would've been so quick to drop their panties for him.
Anyway, I'm so glad that Andy Taylor is STILL alive and kicking. His guitar skills got he and Duran Duran inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Real Rock fans love guitars and the guitarists behind them.
Check him out with Robert plant
I can't believe she doesn't know how bands played on Live Aid!!!
How on earth does such a hardcore fan not know that Tony played with Zep?? Thumbs down.
If any govt had the will like they did with covid, we would all be eating healthy food and ALL disease would be massively decreased.
