I LOVED Duran Duran. I had posters of them from floor to ceiling in my bedroom. LOL. Andy has always been my favorite. I'm very sad about his cancer. The fact he couldn't attend the biggest night of his life makes me so sad.
Before the Arena album was released there was a contest where the winner received a phone call from John Taylor on Christmas Eve. My phone didn't ring... worst Christmas ever 😢😅
Damn. Where has all the time gone. Had a blast in the '80s. Never realized how significant it truly was till I could look back on it. What a drag it is getting old
I miss those days too. Duran Duran are the band of my growth from teen to adult, from high school through university. The band or their projects have always been there for that decade. Listening to them before MTV and videos became popular, their image, music and concerts were always inspiring. Getting to meet them many times along with many other actors and musicians, have truly been a blessing. Special times that are unforgettable. The 80's growing up had its bumps in the road, but looking back I wouldn't change much.
Was it a great performance or was it great because of being such a great fan? Iam seeing them in October at Madison square gardens for the first time and I am thrilled wish i could have seen them in person in the 80s! Did they do a lot of the 80s songs?
Simon LeBon's comment he made about if that Germany story happened today it would have been a major incident, really makes me think about other acts or groups. Some of the things you found out only because they wrote memoirs and were willing to open up about addiction and stuff like that would have been all over the internet back then. Just to clarify though, as someone with nearly 14 years sobriety herself I'm not judging
I have read Andy’s book and a couple more on Duran and it’s a lot of tell all! Being famous can be awesome (not that I would know lol) but comes with a lot of pressure and some of the addiction was from that and having to preform day and night for months and if you got sick to bad so they did what they did to do so. Breaks my heart however they stood the test of time and still preforming
My all time favorite is Seven and the Ragged Tiger that still had all original members and the song The Reflex can you say Awewweee I wanted to marry John Taylor (still do 🎉) then I would say Rio again all original line up. I back discovered them after seeing The Reflex went backwards to gain more knowledge and more music. I remember when they split for Arcadia and Power Station. Was bummed there. Later in life I love Pressure Off and All you need is now. Always went the extra mile to ensure excellent music videos ❤
After they attained world dominance, they were the best dressed band in the entire WORLD! So if you wanted to dress like them, you weren't going to find it at Kmart, that's for sure!
I saw them 3x. I need to see them again. I have dreams of the band and the song Girls on Film. I have no idea why that song. It's a mystery. I wish Andy a speedy recovery. I hate cancer.
Always loved Duran Duran, I'd love to know the story behind "Save a prayer", my favorite song of theirs. I love the ethereal quality of it! Glad these boys are still around, except for Andy Taylor (RIP Andy!)
@@cocoaorange1 No, Andy is not dead. He announced he’s been fighting metastatic (stage 4) prostate cancer for the last 4 years. It IS ultimately fatal…there’s no cure. Currently, tho, he’s still alive & kicking.
Haters gonna hate but the boys all deserve to be there! They are as great now as they were then and the style was incredible not only could the sing but they had the looks and knew how to dress! Still do! Didn’t know about Andy being sick but will pray for him! He has a lot of talent but was way over looked and didn’t get the credit he deserves
@@tuvia4082 Better than the atrocities they make today. You keep enjoying that modern music. I could say a complete sentence of nothing but nonsensical words, and have gold in today's era.. you enjoy your day too, simple man.
That sad the manager has died in a car crash simon le bon should keep going he my favourtie singer love simon le bon I wish I marry him ok had a dream about him all the time jenny
Oridinary World is not about a marriage break up I mean thats not what he wrote it about he wrote it about his guilt and grief over a friend dying of an overdose and Simon feeling like if he had just called the guy that night it would not have happened but thats not true if it hadn't been that night it may have been another night Simon has nothing to feel guilt over but thats how it is when you lose someone you care about sometimes people left behind do feel some guilt
This did happen. It was at a place called the Sugar Shack. And in the lyrics to Violence of Summer, a song on their not very popular but excellent Liberty album, Simon sings about it.
What do you think was Duran Duran's best album?
Rio
Come Undone, Rio, Hungry Like the Wolf, Ordinary World
Astronaut
Rio
All you need is now. Every track is a belter closely followed by Rio.
It's a roller coaster for Duran. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and then Andy's illness. Duran wouldn't have been what they are without him
I used to love Duran Duran in the 80's,
they were so cool. I still like their music.
I loved Duran Duran, until Andy Taylor left. Then, he joined The Power Station and Andy and Robert Palmer were just magic together!
Love their music too, since the late 80s-early 90s.
Their videos were well made.

Still love Duran Duran to this day. Hugest crush on John Taylor ❣️ My bedroom walls were plastered with their posters ❣️ 😍😍😍
Still waiting for Simons wedding proposal!! Haha

I'd go back in a heartbeat. Best times of my life
Just saw them last month and they are one of my favorite bands!

Duran Duran is one of few bends who had multiple hits in there different decades , they don't get much recognition for that.
Still the best band ever! Great in concert, super friendly every time I've met them.
How did you meet them? I am going to a show and would love to just say hello

Saw them TWICE in Philly... 85 Live Aid, 2000s Tower Theater...Simply the Best....Tina Turner
Their image has never been shattered
Love duran duran always and love john Taylor more
One of my favorite bands of the all the times . I did not know about ( their addiction of drugs)

Andy is still alive
Um he’s not dead yet. Andy is still very much alive
Roger was the one who left the music industry in 1986. Andy tried a solo career, but failed, so he became a session musician.
Yes, from my reading, roger preferred the quite life in hos hometown, happy to know that only he hadnt got into drugs,
John had a solo album also. I do what I do to have you was a cool song he did
Cool 😎 vid
Never knew about the near death shoots.
Sue Parmiter was from Portsmouth, and was a great contributor to Parmiters Antiques ..
The wedding album was my favorite
Great men definitely had there ups and downs life experience, but still going strong in 2024 nick nick 👀🤩🐈⬛🐾🐈⬛🐾🐈⬛
Wow, what a wild ride for the Wild Boys.
Duran Duran🙂
“DRUM” was not a ship, she was a Yacht!
Rio ❤️
❤💢💥💫
That Wild Boyz video seemed unnecessarily dangerous
You missed Simmons motorcycle accident with lead to him losing a testicle
Didnt hurt him has 3 daughters and grandchildren omg that sounds old lol wish they were young again and so was I lol
*RANDY JUDAH TORREZ ❤️
Jeez Poor Rog how dare they attack him like that
Lots of jealous haters coming on here to show their sour grapes. Guess Duran deservedly being inducted into the RRHOF hit a nerve. LOL

Hardly tragic..
Power Station. The Taylor's and Palmer of. Coke.
I've never listened to them. Were they any good?
Do you always take someone's word as the truth? Go listen to them. Find out for yourself if they're good.

Ordinary world is my favourite song now it makes more sense to me it was about drugs and marriage breakup.
It's about Simon's friend David Miles, who died of an overdose in 1986.
That was Do You Believe in Shame
With all the cocaine and everything, I'm so glad none of them managed to kill themselves.
Is that true that Duran Duran were rushed with a person with a bat? This is news to me.

In what world is Duran Duran considered rockmusic?

What the hell is a "duran"? And why do they need 2 of them?? Typical 80s synthetic pop crap.
ITS THE NAME OF A CHARACTER IN A MOVIE.
Typical ignorant response from another idiotic knownothing.
I guess you had to be there. 😂😂😂
You sound like a actual public rat
There`s nothing typical about Duran Duran.
What tragedy?? Everyone knows there music is horrible.. nothing new there 😆😆
Wow keep telling yourself that
Nah they made good music, I think you’re high on crack or something 🤷
are you deaf? that's the only explanation I can find for your statement
You must be higher than John Taylor was
