After watching your video I noticed those two little black buttons that push in when accepting discs. To my surprise one of them broke off to the slightest touch... Now I know why my disc drive wouldn't accept discs. Thank you, I may not have been able to fix the problem but you helped me diagnose it.
The damn ps4 slim is sensitive: I was trying place the damn ps4 slim vertical but accidentally messed up the disk drive. Sh!t went crazy and the disk couldn't be read at all. Found this video and the solution helped me. Thank you - and you got yourself a subscriber.
This fixed my PS4 after I traveled with it in my vehicle and probably dislodged the plastic piece. Before this video, I thought I needed to install a new disc drive motor. Huge save, so thank you!
It was your spindle, the gear near the left hand black arm needed resetting. This puts the arms back to the original position. If the gear is on the wrong position the arms don't go back and the disc will not go in.
Bro when I was trying to fix this I saw that that thing popped out I thought nothing of it until I seen this and I realize it was in the wrong place thank you so much bro

ATTENTION If you put everything back together and follow this is instructions and inserting and taking the disc that works however if you got "unrecognizable disc" please try taking off the disc drive cables ribbon cables and reinserting them under the PS4... I completely disassemble my ps4 with a disk in and I put the drive together wrong then when I fixed it with this video. I keep getting infinite spinning and unrecognizable disc. The ribbon cables where my solution

Hello, few things i can suggest. start with the update software,then check the if the CD is clean (try the CD on othere ps4 if posible to see if works),open the console and look if you can see whats going on in there ( the spining of the CD-just start and stop or keep spinning till says than can recognize the CD). Then... the problem is you laser i guess.

@@themanbehindtheslaughter5479 no I got it from a friend for £30 because it had a broken disc drive and he got a ps5. I have put a new disc drive in, I think something neeens tweaking. Its like something isn't set quite right. It's a re furbished drive. It's a cuh 2016 a model

And now the ps4 won't read discs, but will if I insert it, turn it off and then on again. It's an uphill battle, I don't know what to do next. I have an old drive I can salvage the lens from and other parts. But I'm not going to start soldering

Try to oil up or clean the all moving parts,the rollers at the front. If the problem is the “eye” then there is no advice I can give you. Open the console and try to find from where the sound/s coming from.

I have same PS4 when I put the CD it not insert sometimes insert to half and sometimes insert fully then PS4 rejected I don't know what to do

Try to clean the rollers. They are the first rink which comes in mind.
