Wiring Problems on a Singer Featherweight Power Cord

Does your light flicker and go off and on when you depress the foot controller for your Singer Featherweight 221 or 222? This short video tutorial will show you how to quickly reverse the wiring in the plug to keep this annoyance from happening any further.

Thanks for the video and information , I have an old sears Kenmore sewing machine given to my parents in the 70's,;- being I don't use a sewing machine often, I didn't want to buy a new one.
When I I took apart the plug [because it seemed to have a short] the contacts on the three prong receptacle plug just popped right out. I didn't want to take a chance after having to solder one of the contacts to the ac plug wire of forcing them back in and "testing" by plugging it in.
This video told which wire went to which receptacle prong and the machine words fine now.
Before sewing was an extreme agitation having to lift the machine and readjust the plug with every bobbin change or big movement.

Thanks - I always wonder why there are 3 pins - now I know - Do you know what they call this type of motor? and foe the speed is control by the foot speed controller ? Changing the voltage or current? - I always thought the speed of the motor (AC) cannot be changed (can be varied a bit by voltage or current but it gets hot) - the speed of motor is fixed by the supllied frequency (50/60hz and the no of wiring poles) So how does it work?

Do two neutrals go in pin one and live from plug goes into pin 3? I have one wire spare which is the live from the controller? Pin 2?

Hi i have to toyota ra224 rs2000 model sewing machine. Do you have such wiring diagram for it? I want to install a singer ydk yc-190 plug with it as I can't find one from Toyota in same pin connector. I live in pakistan can't import from other country so want to modify existing ones for it...
Update :
I tried the singer padel on Toyota machine though my motor runs but light turns off when I press on pedal to run the motor. I swaped the wires in the pedal but still same issue..
I followed a diagram that illustrates generic sewing machine with light and motor. When motor is off light is on when motor is on light gets turned off.. Any idea what could be wrong?

What do I do with a plug that is two round prongs and not two flat pieces that goes into the wall. Is this 220? Can I just wire in a plug? Model # DV9117
