First of all, if you don't know what a Tool-Assisted Speedrun (TAS) is.
A TAS is a run made on an emulator that supports certain tools that allows you to; slow down the game to frame-by-frame speed, make save states that you can reload as much as you want in order to make the run as optimal as possible. Of course such a run is not meant to be compared to any real-time records, it is only supposed to be a demonstration of what the game looks like when it's pushed near to its limits. Additionally it provides great entertainment (in most cases). It does not require skill, but rather knowledge and patience. It is important to keep in mind that everything you see in a TAS is possible on a console, although a lot of what you see can be either difficult or practically impossible due to many precise inputs made.

This TAS was actually a complete run, but for whatever reason the replay mode started to malfunction all of a sudden, refusing to playback the replay like it was supposed to. This is something I did not believe was possible when I started this run a few months ago. I thought it was impossible for the replay mode to fail, but that was certainly not true after all. I guess the struggle I would had gotten with making a .DTM file would have been worth it in the end, although I would have to fix loads of unnecessary desyncs during the making of the run. But instead I just wasted most of my work.
By the way, the ghost file worked fine, in case you are curious.
I made notes while I made this run, and I estimate to have worked on this TAS for about 80-85 hours. So it is a huge loss.
I might redo this run maybe next year or so, (or never). All I know is that it is unlikely to happen very soon.

About 420 save states were made in total.
160 during the first lap, 120 during the 2nd, and 140 during the final lap.
I estimate to have loaded save states about 30000-35000 times throughout the run. In other words; Approximately 32500 Re-records.

ISO: PAL version of F-Zero GX (1.35 GB)

Wow, those first two laps are incredible! It's a huge shame that the finished product doesn't work, but even with a broken third lap, it's still the best TAS I've ever seen!

It is truly incredible how well made this game is. Here you are, abusing the bugs in this game to their utmost, going way faster than perhaps even the designers expected you to go, and (almost) everything still works perfectly at 60 fps.

I still don´t get how you can stay at those speeds, because if you exceed 10k speed aou slow down, but somehow you still seem to get speed from those shiftboosts exceding 10k. Can you please explain this to me, because I am working on TASes as well now ?
The amount of energy gained from doing those track leave boosts is much greater than the normalizer the game puts in, he can go as fast as the game engine can handle really.

Iirc that happens if it's only 10k for one frame, i.e. from a shift boost
I tested around with it and found out that holding the accelerator for very few frames still lets you get more speed, but if you hold it for one frame too long you lose tons of speed.
