      @@deep1551 Judges are immune to jail by wrongful sentences. To be fair the convictions and stuff back in the 80's were a whole different time and evidence was scarce. But in reality, after 36 years i'm pretty sure that Judge isn't alive.
      Also, Judges don't make the state laws and what charges people get hit with and those cases are determined by a jury of 12. So it almost never is solely a judge making the call. It's the state and jury.

    • @cheetahBeachwood
      @cheetahBeachwood 5 років тому +24

      hey- look at the facts of the case-
      The woman didn't know that the police pulled an old trick.
      See- what they did was showed her a photo of a line up of men according to her description. She didn't find a match.
      Then they give her a second photo a week later of different men with the exception of one man being from the original line up.
      What the brain does in this situation is get a feeling of recollection.
      She even told the jury that she wasn't sure (about 70% sure) and used Eeny, meeny, miny, moe to pick a person that best fits and the police said they would further investigate that person's whereabouts.
      We didn't live in a world of DNA and fingerprint databases back then. Instead if you matched the description and you didn't have a sound alibi then you were at high risks of getting convicted.
      Unfortunately, the guy that was convicted did have a scar similar to what the woman described to the police right after the attack and unfortunately he was picked out from the lineup and unfortunately his alibi of where he was at 11:30 am (in the near afternoon) was that he was sleeping at home. If he said at work and there were many colleagues that could prove that then this also would have helped his case.
      Justice systems are not perfect.
      It was an evil crime of multiple rapes and stabbing of the rape victim to shut her up as a friend who happened to show up started to search the house for her friend, the rape victim. When she found the door locked with her friend screaming about being stabbed and raped the friend pleaded to stop and promised to cover her eyes to allow the rapist to escape and to free her friend to get medical attention.

    Should be given $1M each year you’re incarcerated wrongly

    • @bbokgomu5422
      @bbokgomu5422 5 років тому +101

      Ok. Let's be real here. That is WAY too much, but I love that you want to give him so much. :)
      I've researched on Google "average salary in the U.S", probably not accurate but we have numbers to work with!
      "$56,516" was the amount given.
      He should be given, let's say, $60,000USD(just because I love even numbers and this is just theoretical) each year incarcerated wrongly.
      He was convicted at 22 years of age and got out at 58. The differences between 22 and 58 is 36.
      60000 * 36 = 2160000
      so it is $2,160,000.00 USD
      Which is more than enough for him to get back on his feet. He could've been a saving money, working hard and loving life. BUT who knows, no one. He was locked up for 36 years and didn't get a chance to live life properly.
      Thanks for reading :P. Idk why I typed this all out, I'm very bored and just love discussing.
      Bu

      That's just the tip of the iceberg. How about the wife and children he didn't get to have? The holiday memories? Birthdays? A career? Vacations? A home? Fun? Being able to relax? How about the 36 year hell he had to endure. Prison food. Indignation. Imprisonment. Violence. Forced association and cohabitation with true criminals. The list goes on . . .

      Maybe Steve gives, just not in the open for everyone to know about. This man was truly wronged and no amount of money could ever give him 36 years of his life. It seems to me that he's not bitter, and he's on a mission to free other innocent humans. He has a purpose. It's a great one. The company blessed him with $5,000 and free toothpaste. My kids have plenty of toys, but they're GRATEFUL when someone gives them a box with a picture of a car on it, or when they find a painted rock someone took the time to paint and hide. It's the attitude of gratitude. That attitude just makes a person want to pour out the blessings even more. This man seemed grateful, even though $5,000 isn't $250K. God bless him and his family.

Punitive, which is typically a statutory sum and compensatory (a.k.a.) pain and suffering. Now how much pain and suffering did this man endure being wrongly imprisoned for 36 years?
