The U.S. Made AN/TWQ-1 Avenger Missile System is Keeping Ukraine's Sky Safe from Russia

- Military experts in the Western world are well aware of the importance of reinforcing Ukraine's air defense capability.
According to Western intelligence, Russia is amassing aircraft near the Ukrainian border, indicating that Moscow is preparing to launch a land offensive supported heavily by fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft. To combat Russian aircraft and drones, in November 2022, the U.S. announced the shipment of four AN/TWQ-1 Avenger air defense systems. On January 20, 2023, eight additional systems were included in the military aid package.
The AN/TWQ-1 Avenger, also referred to as the M1097, which is fully automated and designed for close-range engagements, is the U.S. Army's primary mobile air defense weapon. It is a surface-to-air missile fire unit that is lightweight, highly mobile, and easily transportable, with two missile pods each containing eight Stinger missiles.
In addition, the Avenger carries a .50 caliber (12.7mm) FN M-3P machine gun, located under the right mounting of the Stinger missile launchers and fed by an ammunition box of up to 250 shells. In April 2017, an Avenger fired Stingers at two UAVs in a test, marking the missile's first interception of a UAV target.

An air-brust fragmentation rounds from the 30mm launchers on either sides would be awesome against drones and UAVs.
This weapon is older than i am. It can't integrate with any air defence systems unless all new hardware and software and 6 months of bug fixing .The Serb SU29 that have arrived have the same problem so are being cannabilised to keep they own jets in the air

Each missle pod holds 4 stingers for a total of 8. Can be reloaded by a good crew in 4 minutes. Pretty cheap but effective SHORAD weapon system.

What a pity the range and the altitude are so limited.... It is still useful against low flying targets... It should be very nice if they manage to get it near Russian military airports...
They are giving low range units because they dont want them to be able to attack russia at home and trigger nuke war they say anyways. They could easily give them tech to reach anywhere in russia but they want the war to stop not escalate further.
