When I was studying in Italy they told us to avoid “ski slope” gelato. So if it looks like a mountain, run away!

Yeah I went when I was 14 and was told that too. They get ice crystals in them too which ruins the whole experience imo

In the USA they have rules/laws saying how much air can be pumped into ice cream before it’s not considered ice cream anymore.
Sounds like Italy needs this for Gelato
The fake gelato looks so silly but in a way that draws attention to it but for a positive for the real gelato, the way it's so ribbony and sprinkled with toppings looks beautiful as well. I'm amazed they can shape it so well by hand like that.
We lived in Italy while stationed there, it was an amazing time...my kids never said they were bored.
I was just in Italy and I learned this before I went. We had the best gelato!
I think for me I would know the difference.
I definitely don't like ice cream with food color nor pumped with air. I love natural ice cream.

I'm Italian, trust me: Pistachio food should always be brownish green. If they try to sell you bright green pistachio anything... RUN! It's not real pistachio.

It seems like you haven't had any high quality artisanal ice cream in England from small independent shops using local milk and natural ingredients for flavor, no junk.
When I went to Italy to visit my sister she said the same thing and I definitely noticed a difference. I actually went to that same gelato shop on Florence
Best gelato ever: Crema Emma in Viareggio right next to the Perini Navi boatyard on the water. Ate it nearly every day for over a month. Ruined me for the fake gelato in the US forever. Great memories!

I didn't know this at all. I hope the gelato I enjoyed so much was the real thing. It was a dark chocolate with Grand Marnier added and it was delicious!

I’m not saying for this Gelateria, but… we were scammed in Firenze, when buying ice cream. No price tag by the icecream, only by the cones. So cone was 5 € snd ice cream was extra 25 € per scoop.

@@giovannimoriggi5833 Però è vero che nei centri dove ci sono tanti turisti, trovi anche dei gelati pessimi, a cifre astronomiche, e fatti con ingredienti industriali (come appunto coloranti e aromi al posto della materia prima reale). Quello che non condivido è che siano la maggioranza come sembra nel video.

I had the best gelato in Florence that was so different to anything I had tried before. Then I was excited in Rome to try one again but was disappointed because it tasted exactly like the ones here in Oz which are still good but not like Florence.

Yea most frozen ice creams in americas aren’t even ice cream😂 “frozen dessert”labeled on box with artificial flavors and chemicals and have no nutritional value but real gelato is prolly eaten everyday in italy bc it has real natural ingredients like eggs milk sugar cream , yummy and good for you

As a former Gelatier, the pistacchio is brown because they use Sicilian pistacchio, which aren't as green as other varieties
