  • Telluride Via Ferrata in Colorado has been on our bucket list for quite some time. So when our cousin Anh asked if we wanted to make a trip there, of course, we said yes. Telluride Via Ferrata has to be one of the most exciting and unforgettable adventures. It combines mountain hiking with the traditional Via Ferrata cable system and breathtaking scenery. There is nothing more thrilling than traversing across a sheer cliff, 600ft above ground, with only safety tethers, a steel cable, and metal rungs to support you. Besides the spectacular views, this amazing adventure also challenges your physical and mental fortitude while giving you an incomparable sense of accomplishment.

Concerned with your homemade via Ferrata set. There is a reason why the commercial sets use a shock absorber. Falling without one is a recipe for disaster.

We appreciate the concern. We only used these for Telluride since it is almost completely a traversing route. We wouldn't even think about using them on anything with vertical sections. 😎 Telluride is probably the only Via Ferrata in the world that isn't required commercial via Ferrata set because it's mostly a horizontal route.

Please, always clip the carabiners in the opposite direction of each other (unlike in the video...) and maybe get a shock absorber! Otherwise cool video! :) Stay safe, guys!

Thanks for the tip! We are picking up some real lanyards before our next run 😎👍

There is one of these in west Virginia called the iron way . North forks WV I have not been there as of yet but am planning on giving it a try. You have good videos and they have inspired me to visit places you have talked about

Nope. Just watching this made me week in the knees. Are we going to see you taking the Jeep down Black Bear Pass? Its the zig zag road in the background by Bridal Veil Falls. Not for the faint of heart, not to mention it's only a one way road, so once you start, you're committed. Thanks for the videos!

I can totally see how this would be way outside most comfort zones 🤣. We are hoping to go back this summer. If we do we will give that road a shot. I bet the jeep would love it!

Thank you for the fanstastic video! How much extra time did it add for you to get such great production quality? 🙂
I live in Boston and my buddy lives in Los Angeles and I hope that we can set this trip up for this summer! When were you there for the fly-over? The weather looked perfect!
    Thanks again!

Hey Trey! Thank you so much! We do this all the time, so luckily it doesn't add a whole lot of time to the adventure. But even if it did, we could be up there all day! I believe that they only do the flyer on the 4th of July which is when this video was shot. Hopefully you get to check it out. It is an amazing experience!

WARNING!!! NOT ADVISABLE TO USE HOMEMADE VIA FERRATA SETS, especially for via ferratas with vertical parts.

As a guide here in Colorado, please do the opposite of what they show in this video! You can rent a via ferrata lanyard for $25 for the day. Opposite clipping like someone else said. The homemade gear is incredibly concerning, spend the $25 or get a guide! We go through TONS of training and certifications to keep people safe!

Where can you rent? I looked and couldn't find any in Telluride or Denver.

"The Complete Guide" but without using via ferrata sets? Dangerous for yourselves and the other people watching this who don't know any better and might think that's okay.

An entire video of people not using via ferrata rated lanyards. Yikes. This is very dangerous, don't do it. A proper lanyard is under $100 bucks. A via ferrata fall can generate far higher forces than even a climbing fall. Not using a proper lanyard makes breaking your back or worse very possible.
