Well they’re US weapons. Poland bought 400 or so recently. I believe you’d have to have US approval to resell their weapons.
Many countries have the M247 which is essentially the same thing (Weaponwise) as a Himars. However Himars was made to be smaller to fit on a basic military truck. To do so they had to reduce the number of pods per system, but they gained more mobility.
The UK has given M247 to Ukraine. The US is probably the only one to have Himars to give cause it was developed here relatively recently in 2010.

Nope the range is 80km, for it to go up to 300km the HIMARS must have the ATACMS coming with it that allow it to futher its range to 300km and US has stated it is not sending HIMARS with ATACMS as they fear UKRAINE will use it on Russia soil.

@@rbstevns1534 HIMARS is just the name of the specific (US) variant of the weapon. The germans for example have the MARS 2, which basically the same with a few differences. One has wheels the other tracks and so on.

Hi john, maybe you missed it but it's self-propelled, before the rockets will have hit the target the vehicles will be dozens of kms away from it's original firing position, making anti battery radar quite useless.

Five months and still waiting. It is also already been claimed by many that the HIMARS system outranges many of Russia’s systems, so if Russia’s got anything to counter it, we would have seen them by now.
Furthermore, NATO wouldn’t be sending them to Ukraine without much precautions and thorough analysis of the war so far; just think about it: why would the US and allies send the Ukrainian army any machinery that can easily be countered and destroyed by the Russian military and render them immediately ineffective at this point in time? That would just be an incredible waste of time and resources.

I was an MLRS crew chief during the Persian Gulf War. No artillery system is perfect, but it is devastating. I just don't think the politicians understand how many will be needed. Too few will not be enough launchers to really affect Russian operations. The Ukrainians need a brigade (or at least two battalions) of 72 to 108 launchers, 6 counter battery radars, 110 heavy HEMTT support trucks with 10-ton trailers, 30 to 45 M-577 command & control vehicles, and a complete suite of long-range radios to coordinate the retaking of the Donbass. One brigade will change the direction of the war.

The Hypersonic Missile Technology Race:
The US ARRW hypersonic (in test) has a speed of Mach-5. Supersonic is up to Mach-5. Hypersonic is Mach-5 to Mach-10 or 11.
Russia's KINZHAL Hypersonic missile system is Mach-9 in service and in test for new upgrade in 2022.
The Russian AVANGARD has a speed of Mach-20 to 27.
Russia's new S-500 are able to detect and simultaneously engage up to 10 ballistics hypersonic targets and also able to destroy hypersonic cruize missiles and other aerial targets of higher than Mach-5, as well as spacecraft.
The USA has a long way to catch up to Russia's hypersonic technology.
Apparently, the Russian hypersonic missiles use a 'special' fuel that nobody else had ... so it's not just a matter of creating the engines, you need the fuel technology too ... supposedly the best Western fuel can go hypersonic, BUT, the special Russian fuel produces speed 3X faster to the range of Mach-7 to Mach-21.
The US hasn't had much luck with its hypersonic missiles project, BUT recently on May 14, 2022 the USAF said it conducted a succesfully tested hypersonic weapon. Again this was only 'a test' and it will of
course take much time to field this weapon. Russia so far is the only country that had these weapons in their inventory for battlefield use. China is also fast developing such hypersonic weaponries. HIMARS is worse than Soviet BM-30 Smerch (Ukraine had 80 of them, almost all are already lost), let alone modern Russian 9К515 Tornado-C. Development of multiple rocket launchers and artillery has never been a priority for US army. It will be another case of a poor performance in Ukraine like M777 (only 34 out of 108 are working right now, others are destroyed or need factory repair). It's another case of much hype and very little substance. Western supplies are a drop in the bucket taking into account the amount of already lost hardware. 50+ billion in American weapons without even minimal oversight is mostly about corruption and kickbacks as usual. I suppose Ukraine is the second largest buyer of Hunter's art after China.

There are such a thing call INS (inertial navigation system), doesn't cost too much (all things considered) and can be pretty accurate, with GPS support, it's just more guarantee of being accurate. There are a few more systems in those rockets to made them accurate, so taking out JUST GPS is not going to help much.
If what you said is true, Rus would have done it by now and get great success over it too. Hunted by drones? We don't see much of that happening. On the other hand maybe there are lots of haunting by (ghost) drones. lol, the more you know.
