Learning how to draw tubes by breaking it down into cylinders only made it all more complicated for me. I ended up just figuring out ways to short hand it. I remember study over one drawing where they pretty much drew bananas for the fingers and thats when it clicked, I was like, oh this shit doesnt even really need to be so technical. Im not the best at drawing them still but they are my favorite to draw.
Yeah me too... But, I have to say drawing tubes and other geometric shapes has helped me a ton with visualising form in 3D space ,which ,in turn, has helped me out with drawing in prospective and even drawing from imagination. TL;DR it may be difficult but I think there's value to it
What I love In your videos is that you mostly simplify everything, as a person who have a short attention span- this is very helpful! I also love how you go to the detail immediately. Also your voice is so comforting! I watched plenty tutorials but most of them focus on the shapes and not the muscles. I love your works too! So keep going and I hope you get seen more
I go to an art school and all my friends just send each other examples of your work and just be like oh my God look how good this gesture is or oh my goodness the shape designs amazing.
I was looking for a hand tutorial but all of them were extremely complex for my art style, this is a godsend. I feel like I've been enlightened. Thank you for putting this in such clear and simple terms, you're a life saver! 😭🙏
I've been struggling to draw hands for years, so much that I would avoid them😭. now after watching this I feel confident to practice drawing them more.
Soooo true. All the stuff on the internet bout hands being superhard affected my own thoughts so much that I was scared to draw them. This video though made me look at my own hand and now I'm not scared and it's not as hard as I thought.
This is a genuinely exceptional level of teaching. Your ability to make complex shapes suddenly seem 'seeable' and understandable through truly original and innovative analogies, tricks, and tips is amongst the best I've seen. There must be tons upon tons of tutorials on drawing hands on UA-cam, but this video - this video right here - is the most helpful I've ever seen. Thank you so much. Please keep posting because I'm sure you will grow a massive audience one day if you keep putting out content like this.
This is amazing! Most tutorials focus on how to draw realistic hands with a lot of construction lines. But for quick sketches and more stylisation your method is fab. And love how clearly you articulate.
I adore this channel. Its such a joy to watch you draw, and your presentation is extremely calming yet informative. Thank you so much! I hope your videos find the recognition they deserve!
This is genuinely the MOST helpful tutorial I've ever seen for drawing hands. I finally sketched hand outlines that actually look like HANDS, I mean holy _crap_ 🤯 Thank you so so so much ❤
It was so simple yet. So profound. I've been drawing and illustrating for decades now and always had trouble with hands at different angles and how to make it look like the thumb is actually connected to the hand where you go from that joint. At the tip to the rest of the hand. It was always kind of wonky and just was watching a few minutes of this video. It broke something open in my head and made everything make sense
On tip 5: I always, always, always need to be reminded of this, and it does not help that every drawing video in the world is sped up. I am constantly being shown video of someone doing a full piece in eight minutes that would normally take a couple hours, while they merrily prattle about some pointless drama in "the UA-cam community" involving people I have never heard of. I have to remind myself that not only have they got the video on 15x speed, they have trimmed out all the blank spots, and that voice track was recorded separately.
This helps way better for different artstyles than all the other more technical solutions. And I might've used a variant if this method subconciously for a while since it just made sense. Also a reminder to not make the hands too small, they're usually big enough to cover half the face.
Honestly in terms of practical knowledge you're probably one of the best art content creators out there. I'm surprised you don't have at least 10 times more subscribers. I'll be spreading the word as much as possible, if that helps at all lol
Dude i love your channel , ive been trying to improve on my shorthand , trying to make it more visually appealing and your videos are perfect ! Ive always loved your poses and gestures there so dynamic !
This video came at such a great time, yesterday I was really struggling with drawing hands 😂 I really wanna learn how to draw better people, faces and hands because they're all so expressive, love this video!!
Thanks for the tips! Using them i immediately got the kind of hands i have been wanting to draw for so long, this helps a lot with getting the structure right while drawing more freely, instead of being all tense while i copy my refference hehe I shared it with some friends c:
I found your channel yesterday and your videos are SO helpful. I feel like already I improved. I become overwhelmed by loads of confusing guidelines, even if I understand what I’m supposed to be doing, it feels like too much information on the page for my brain, end up sticking too closely to it and the sketch turns out looking stiff.
this is a game changer for my brain. Thank you for sharing the brain power. I drew around 30 hands yesterday, and they all look like hands!! The Ws on the bottom of the hand and the overlapping hands leveled me up for sure. I can see a hand after just drawing one W now Any tips for back of the hands?
This is helpful, Im having characters wieving hand signs so this will come in handy for sure. Thanks dude! I tried the tung thing for backs and it worked pretty well! Thanks for teaching useful shorthands.
Hhmmm... 🤔 Certainly I feel like merging toes together can be done to the same effect. In fact, even the W can be used as well! The balls of the feet share a similar contour. 👍
They are called hypothenar ,thenar ,and ......let's call the fat under the 4 fingers steve cuz this area doesn't have any muscles just fat, bones and skinnn
I love your videos so much i can cry. But just a tiny teeny bit problem. I have trouble hearing and focusing so the music over your voice is a bit too much. If only it could be 50% lower in volumme that would be aăesome!
For sure, even watching it back myself, I realized this. I turned the music down all the way to the last setting before it's muted in my latest video, lemme know how that works!
♦️ At first I told myself that I need to learn how to draw hands as soon as possible. But in the end, I felt that I need to lower my expectations because as long as the form looks like a hand, even though it is messy. Then it can still be seen as a hand regardless. It's like, I'm prioritizing hands when I can't draw the body properly 😂 You said you're not that good at hands but those are already good drawn hands. 🫡✨ Ohh and yes, I do merge those two fingers, it doesn't look stiff when you draw four of the fingers and it's just easier
Yess, exactly. I feel like the attempt is better than the result. As long as you're trying intently, then it'll all add up in the end. And thaanks. 😊🙏🫡

Yeaaah, I was never the box and cylinder guy. 😅 I was way too eager to just jump into the good stuff. It worked out though.
Yeah me too...

I don't think I have ever found a tutorial that has improved my drawing so drastically within a few minutes before. holy crap. thank you.
That's awesome. 👌

It it genuinely feels as if you’ve solved figure drawing, haha. Such simple, easy-to-remember solutions. Internalizing these is proving very helpful.
Thanks so much! 😁🙏

The W's and birds tip was an actual game changer!!! It changed completely the way I perceive the shape of the hand, thank you!!
I was looking for a hand tutorial but all of them were extremely complex for my art style, this is a godsend. I feel like I've been enlightened. Thank you for putting this in such clear and simple terms, you're a life saver! 😭🙏

Merging fingers is something you saw a lot with Kirby. Look at the Fantastic Four Thing's hand.

Precisely.
These are amazing techniques they've really helped. I'm curious of these can be applied to drawing feet in a way?
Hhmmm... 🤔 Certainly I feel like merging toes together can be done to the same effect.
In fact, even the W can be used as well! The balls of the feet share a similar contour. 👍
