Cool vid mate! I worked on JJK S2 EP21 as 2nd Key artist and, the deadline for that stage was even crazier: For one cut they give me 12 hrs to clean up everything and aply the Animation Director corrections to every single kay frame... and for other one, they give me only 9 hrs. Crazy times but, it worth it
@@Bunaye Thanks mate! I wasn´t able to make a lot of cuts, but it was a fight scene so it was really complex... Actually, some of the cuts were divided into A,B,C parts and given to diferent animators, since we made it at Wednesday and the episode was aired that same weekend
"I have not ate, drank or sleep for three days. My brain is shrinking from dehydration and I've gotten letters from Mappa. I haven't even uploaded this yet. They just know. I'm scared."
I work for mappa you did a really good job for someone who is working by themselves we usually have multiple people working on 1 scene so it goes quicker, GOOD JOB!!!
Wow, what an incredible concept for a video. Great work! Even though the mistreatment of animators in Japan is fairly well known, I think it’s hard for most people to visualize. This video serves as a great demonstration of the effects of crunch on studio employees. Not to mention they do all this for dimes. I’d love to see a sequel where you remake this animation without constraints, and then compare the two so the effects are even more apparent.
To be fair, you did directing, storyboarding, keyframes, inbetweens, coloring, shading, and compositing. That's the job of several people. You did very well!
Well, if you think about it, you worked way harder than a MAPPA animator because you had to animate everything. Typically there is a storyboarder, an inbetweener, a renderer, etc. You did really well for 3 days!
I ended up learning a lot from this video. Not just about animators in the anime industry (I already know they have it really rough) but also about some tricks to save time when it comes to animating. I never knew just how much you can use Blender to your advantage to save time animating instead of trying to figure out movement yourself. Thank you for making this video!
Really great video, but I do want to point something out: you wouldn't have a sole animator doing EVERYTHING; making a story board, drawing every key frame, drawing every in-between frame, coloring every frame, making backgrounds, adding vfx/compositing, etc. So in reality you set yourself MORE tasks then an animator would usually do! I'm really impressed with the quality of the animation despite the time constraint and all the extra work. It'd be cool if you went back and finished the animation, but I can imagine that you're probably sick of it after spending so much time on it lol. Good job and nice video!
This channle is way underrated and to be able to animate the first scene in less than 20 min including background, perspective, coloring (holights and shadows) and compsiting is actually pretty crazy!!! Pls continue to make more videos like this 🔥💪👏
To be fair to you, if you were a Mappa animator, you would just animate. The coloring, compositing, backgrounds etc. would be the job of other departments. It's still an insane work load, the anime industry needs an union. You did such a great job, be careful or they'll find you lol.
Dude i just watched two of your videos back to back, and I gotta say I'm impressed. Recreating a scene in Beserk, and even putting yourself in the shoes of a Mappa animator is crazy.

But as I watched the preview clip it piqued my interest I've never seen this man's content, nor have I ever heard of your channel. But this video was great! It felt fun to watch, was relatable (in some ways), and funny. This was an awesome watch man, great job! I can tell how hard you worked on this 💙.
this is even harder because mappa animators have everything you had to do from scratch, backgrounds, storyboard, their work is doing the work fast and sending it for review and then revision it so the hard part is actually redrawing the animation with the changes or fixes the directors want and sometimes they have to do revisions literally on the last second- they are really strict. still very interesting video, really puts in perspective not for ourselves but others how much hard work goes into any animated film/ series- and how much people eat xD
I just binge watched your whole channel, and I gotta say.. I am in love with it. I love seeing your animation skills along with a genuine passion towards anime and the animation inside of it as well. Keep doing what your doing, its amazing to see!
As an artist myself, your hardwork and others have really make a huge impact for the people to read/watch. Even if it doesn't look wholly perfect, the most important thing is you try and draw for it to be real And great. Art is like an architect or medical doctor, or engineer, or even business entrepreneur, or i guest even chinese teacher teaching at university. The point is they require intellectual and physcial prowess to make or perfect the task which nobody can do or only few (dependence). Art is very hard, but so do engineer or physic but they never give up, run or stop, they draw, draw, draw like that of japanese person drawing the perfect art. Even if it doesnt require degree or talent to draw, it is essentially noted that you must keep working without stopping, only then will you make there at the step of that moment. In conclusion, scientist,Benjamin, observe without Quitting and so too should mangaka or comic or manhua, manwha or others push their limit to its metal.
Crazy video and result :o What is incredible is that the more you do/explore the more it becomes fast and easy in some way. Art is really like a sport. It can be cool to see a video of you polishing your "rushed animation" and see how many hours it need to reach a certain acceptable quality.
