Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 Movie Review

- I just want to let you know how hard it is for me to re-watch this movie.
A group of tourists arrives in Burkittsville, Maryland after seeing The Blair Witch Project (1999) to explore the mythology and phenomenon, only to come face to face with their own neuroses and possibly the witch herself. (probably not...)

I can't. You describt the owl 🦉 scene perfectly 🤣🤣🤣 Thank you for watching the movie until the end 😂😂😂
I've always loved BW2. It's really underrated and don't deserve the hate it gets imo.
@rayewonderland That's why they make more than one flavor of ice cream.
@Wonderlander3it put a lot of emphasis on the witch etc, wicca
Soooooo glad you reviewed this so I don’t have to subject myself to actually watching it now 😂 Your reviews are brilliant, love love love your channel ❤️
Tell me how old you are without telling me how old you are.
That Wonder Woman clip was a DEEP cut.
Very true.
Yeah, it's a guilty pleasure...
Berlinger wanted to look at mass hysteria and make you wonder if things were true or not! Sadly the studio did what studios often do and made a mess of things.
Been watching your reviews on and off since you had 10k subs. So glad to see you're well into 100,000! Keep up the awesome content
The unfortunate thing is that this film was yet another victim of studio interference in the edit. I wonder sometimes what it would have been like if it had remained intact.
As far as flubbed sequels of hit movies go, I can't think of any that was flubbed harder. We could have had a whole Blair Witch Cinematic Universe at this point instead of the two movies and one reboot. Then again it might have turned out not very good at all like the Paranormal Activity franchise so maybe this is the best timeline after all, oh well. I laughed out loud at the 1970s Wonder Woman reference.
From what I understand, the director never intended to film the killing of the 2nd tour group.
The studio felt that the film was boring and needed more visceral moments, so they made the crew film a scene of the murders. However, they couldn’t work out what point in the film to insert the scene, so they just decided to sprinkle it throughout and add that heavy rock music since it was popular at the time.
Ah yes the Halloween 6 gambit and it worked out just as well for them
@@bigbearkat2010 Not even joking, before I finished typing my comment I checked the film’s wiki to make sure that it wasn’t also produced by the Weinsteins.
I have to admit that I enjoy this movie far more then it deserves.
Yeah same, I was legit terrified of this movie.
Me too, I will die a Book of Shadows apologist.
Same. I think for me, it's mostly because of Jeffrey Donovan.
Lol...for me it was Kim Director.@@MisanGlorpe
@@johnsmith8906 o yea! She's lovely. I envied her look and style.
I’ve been watching you for a few years now and while I haven’t always agreed with your opinions on movies I’ve always appreciated your dad humor style. But I’d also like to say that I’ve been interesting watching you grow as a film critic over the last few years. Seeing the way you break down and pinpoint why this movie didn’t work for you in your closing arguments it’s easy to see how far you’ve come, you’ve improved so much in your articulation and it hasn’t gone unnoticed. 💜
Nothing scarier than seeing a ghost occasionally show up to boogie down.
Screw Leno, Team Coco!!!!!!
Yeah
I love this movie. It is so entertaining and first role I have ever seen from Jeffrey Donovan and he steals the show.
There's potential here a for a decent psychological horror thriller about a group of characters getting so obsessed with this legend and losing their minds over it. Seems like the film went a bit heavy handed with the whole thing.
They probably could've connected the miscarriage with the dead kids, made motherhood a more central theme and perhaps gotten the characters to quasi-reinact the tales told about the witch, therefore playing into the madness of whether or not they were being controlled.
It's always a good day when you drop a new review!
Am I crazy for thinking this is a million times more interesting and entertaining than the first movie?
Maybe you could argue the technical merits of the first in terms of how it legitimized and created an audience for found footage.
The first is also no doubt far more important to pop culture as a whole.
And it’s written so naturalistically that it’s definitely a better script.
But it’s so BOOOORING
I LOVE Jeffrey Donovan.. so just because of him, I like this movie LOL. He has all the memorable scenes for me.
I recently saw a blair witch boxset at walmart and it didnt even include the book of shadows, lmao. I actually really likes the *idea* of this movie. Altered perception, lots of little background details, nonlinear story telling. It had the ingredients of a cerebral horror film but just didnt have the finesse to make it work
Lol I remember back in 2007 when me and my friends used the “nature photography” excuse to get high in the woods! Once we even got lost because an idiot had the idea to get away from the road and we ended up on the other side of the forest. We walked like 15 km on foot back to the car. Man those were the days!
Great and very funny review. This movie makes the 2016 version of Blair Witch look like masterpiece.
Yeah this movie has always reminded me of an adult version of Scooby-Doo.
Omg, the "UwU" 2:34 I CAN'T BREATHE
....owl.....fired out of a cannon.....dammit, now I have soup on my monitor!!!! WORTH IT!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣 Fantastic review as always, and I'm sorry you had to suffer through this slop!
Oh how I love your reviews, honestly
Despite active attempts at suspending disbelief, and all of the things that appeal to me (the rural setting, and witchy theme), having grown up not terribly far from Burkittsville, the entire thing was eyeroll inducing. And that's just the first film.
Thanks (as always) for the review. This is the only way I would've ever known any of this.
always love your videos ;)
🎶....wonder-wonder-wonder wonder woman🎶
I am facinated by the story behind this movie,
The film itself is... ehh, fine i guess,
The reason for the jumbled editing, the weird game hidden in the movie that also got bungled,
It's just odd
I remember watching about half an hour of this on the horror channel when i was a kid think the channel was on Sky seen this one called Forrest of the Dammed about these vampire women that kill everyone 😂😂😂😂
"Omg, I'm so edgy," 😂😂😂
This movie, like all movies with Jeffrey Donovan, is much more fun if you think of it as Michael Westin doing a job.
I'm genuinely surprised at the lack of Burn Notice jokes.
"When you're a spy, the trick to going into the woods is to..."
This is a guilty pleasure for me and I did get obsessed with finding all the hidden words if I recall correctly! Great review though and 1.5 bees is definitely generous! 😂
Even the Sheriff was loud & obnoxious
Hea warz uh geood ol' boaya! YEE-HAWER!
They did expand on the paranormal aspect of it. I was 23 when the first film came out and 24 when the 2nd film came out, both times I ended up holding on to the random guy sitting next to me in the cinema auditorium
Oh heck yeah!! You on a roll with these movies on this wonderful spooky season!!! 🤘🖤💜🖤💜🧙♀️
The original intention of the director sounds pretty interesting and a ballsy move, but those performances look . . . off. I don't think it would have worked regardless.
Thanks for this! I kinda like the ones you hate because they’re funnier. 🤣
With all its flaws, I still liked this one. Mainly because I thought it was cool the witch could manipulate the film footage to make it look like they killed her. Or I could be totally wrong about that, lol 🤔 The witch made me write that comment... 😆
One of the most reasonable reviewers out there. I always look forward to your reviews!
That taxidermy owl was so bad!!! And this movie was way too all over the place and I agree! 🤘💜🖤
In All honesty, The Blair Witch Project didn't need a sequel
I have watched the first one last winter and enjoyed it.
The sequel not so much, but it was quite messy!🤣
Thank you very much Bee, keep it up! Stay healthy, - fellow film lover from Lithuania!!
I'm so glad your channel is blowing up more your the shit and l love your sense of humor 😊
ahh yes, another reviewer who reviews BW2 and totally misses the secrets of esrever.
You didn't understand the movie, and you missed a lot.
I hsve no idea what 'I hope he ate pineapple first' means but it still made me laugh. Good job!
That redhead is hot, and looking at her was the only good part of this movie 😅.
I really liked it when it came out. I was 20 when it came out though so that may have something to do with if
Holy smokes dude that owl judged me harder than my dog when I forget to feed him exactly in time.
This dialogue feels like it was written by Brian Griffin in an angsty phase
I laughed when NewBee said "Sooo edgy" when the goth chick was on the grave. I remember watching this when I was a young goth kid with my goth bestie. We thought we were sooo edgy.... Watching a "horror" movie with a goth, a wiccan, a miscarriage, and an orgy.
I love this movie so I'm going to stop watching you Bash it
That Star Wars sequel burn was exactly what I needed today
The only good thing about this film is your review 👍
Love this movie , way better than the 2016 movie
Looks like it was shot out of a cannon! 😂 Great review to an awful movie. 👍
The most boring BW movie, the cast can't act
Mmmmmm .... can you snell that.? ..... huht? Thats some good early 2000s right there. Alt rock teen angst and dark all wrapped up in a neat commercially produced package by the man for those who said theyre individual and wanna stick it to him.
"You wanna come up here?"
"She's on to us" 😂😂😂
its not a complete right of cos at its heart it is a good movie
This sequel was kinda a vvitch.
Watched years ago at an after party whilst enjoying.... herbal refreshment?!?!?!
Any hoo, some dude who had partaken farrrrrr too much, kept goi g on about subliminal messages throughout the film. Kept sounding like Moff from Human Traffic during the kitchen scene.... Good times, poor moovie!
"the Secret of Esrever"
Eggs. . . The answer is eggs. . . 🥚🥚🥚
"Killed by Dr Soren" hahahaha 🖖🤘
Studio meddling: The Film.
Judge owls made the movie
I love your Chanel but you don’t black out from just smoking weed now the alcohol definitely didn’t help lol
I just blame it on the witch
Ne ov my favorite Movies 🎬 ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I loved BW2
Yay! New NB!
Good job NB!
🧙♀️📚🎥🍿
🎉
Dude that pineapple joke was wild. Very nice, lmao
Persephone, who Erica to evoke is a Greek goddess, goddess of the under world. I think she was Hekate's daughter. As a wiccan we do honour them
