    Nice to see you back in action, Jason. Excited you're tackling the new Mortlach range. I've got a 16 sitting in my cart right now, might just hold off on that purchase until your next video. (Not that I expect it to change my mind.)

      I hope you did choose it as its jam packed with flavours but I'll keep an eye out for your comment in the other two videos as I'm just able to catch up with my comments today. Thank you and I'm glad to be back!

    Great review hope this will be available in the US soon never had a Mortlach the independent bottlings I have seen are much older and very expensive. Cheers

      Thank you Donner Pass Whiskey, I've seen a lot of IB which are really pricy but that might all change now as if the Distillery changes it game the IB will have to follow suit or be left with their stock which is a good thing to be a consumer. Cheers

    Awesome review Jason....I was not impressed with Mortlach rare old so I hope these new expressions are better. I have had a 22 yr The Exclusive Malts sherry bomb that was amazing so I know that it can be amazing under the right circumstances. Happy Holidays buddy!

      Happy Holidays Keith and hope you had a lovely Christmas, be sure to check some Signatory and G&M Mortlach for some of the super stunners but its good to see that Mortlach is going in the right directions. Slainte!

    I like Mortlach, although I’m having a hard time remembering if I’ve tried any distillery releases? 🤔 Always Indie Bottles I think!
    Great videos Jason.

      Thank you very much Daniel, me too and I know Gordon & MacPhails and Signatory have some great independent bottlings.

    Great review. Pittyvaich was a stillhouse on a hill overlooking The Dufftown Distillery

    • @JasonWhiskyWise
      @JasonWhiskyWise  5 років тому +1

      Thanks Eric, have you had a chance to try any Pittyvaich's?

    • @ericgilbert8114
      @ericgilbert8114 5 років тому

      Never tried Pittyvaich and never heard anything good of the whisky. Pittyvaich can be found as a oddly with independent bottlers. There is also a 28yo official bottling released last year with the Diageo Cask Strength Special releases. I would guess it's rare, never seen the bottle myself.

    To me Mortlach has always been an enthusiast's whisky so keeping that in mind I really think they could have done so much better if it got the craft presentation. I will stick to indipendant bottlers for now.

    • @JasonWhiskyWise
      @JasonWhiskyWise  5 років тому +1

      I agree as its always appealed to the enthusiasts, you have a lot of great choices to choose from as recently I tried a few from Mackillops Choice, G&M and Adelphi, thanks for sharing and watching!

    I used to be a fan of Mortlach but have been disappointed lately. Hopefully the new range will be better. Drinking a 19 yo G&M cask strength Mortlach right now. Glad you’re reviewing the new line. £50 for a 12 is fair. Looking forward to the rest of the reviews.

      Like myself I loved them but last couple years they lost me a little and G&M have been a help getting them and Signatory Vintage, I'm glad the new ones are all 700ml / 750ml (North America) and reasonably priced. Thanks for watching!

    Jason thank you much for the great review. Can you tell me the product name of the glass you're useing? How do you like it over the Glencairn?

    • @JasonWhiskyWise
      @JasonWhiskyWise  5 років тому

      Hey G man, its a Luigi Grappa Glass from the Whisky Exchange and the reason I use it over the Glencairn is I prefer a stemmed glass when filming reviews, also it doesn't have a full dram in it making it easier for me when filming. Hope that help and thanks for watching!

    Always put off buying distillery bottlings of this one due to the 50cl and a heavy price tag. That might have just changed!

    • @JasonWhiskyWise
      @JasonWhiskyWise  5 років тому

      The only one I bought was the Special Strength and I agree as the older core range was crazy but its something which has changed with this new core range which has impressed me. Thanks for watching!

    I don't have any MORTLACH in my collection, tasted some, but still wonder which standing out typical/archetypal expression (OB or IB) shall I buy in your opinion (speaking about less than say £ 90-100), thanks in advance...-I read (Serge's opinion) I should rather take the 16 yo...(he gave 89/100 to the 16 yo & 85/100 to this one)

    • @JasonWhiskyWise
      @JasonWhiskyWise  5 років тому

      Its seems Serge has a similar palate to myself in terms of ratings when it comes to the beast of Speyside, Thanks for watching Greg!

    @everwind5691 5 років тому +1

    I haven't seen this in America, do you if they will be releasing it in America? Since I have never had a Mortlach, what would you say this is similar to in taste?

    • @JasonWhiskyWise
      @JasonWhiskyWise  5 років тому

      They are aiming to release this by early next year otherwise I should be online but I'll find out from the Brand Ambassadors for you. Its a little similar to the GlenDronach 12 as its not full on punchy Mortlach!

  • @gman5986
    @gman5986 5 років тому +1

    The way you describe it sounds more like a 91. Anything I have seen rated in the low 80s is usually described (in American Lingo) as Meh!.....or not that great or memorable.

      I have been told that when I make tasting notes it sounds like whisky poetry by a few subs. But thanks for watching!
