00:00 Introduction
00:55 History of Cedar Fair
12:26 Which parks do Cedar Fair own?
15:19 Cedar Fair's record breaking roller coasters
16:52 Cedar Fair's competition
17:37 The future of Cedar Fair
Knott's Berry Farm, one of my favourite parks. Still feels like it's family run, still proud of its history, yet owned by a chain.
At least for me, Cedar Fair has 100% succeeded in their mission. Wonderful video Harry!
@Layton Rhett nice try, everyone knows that both you and Julian Andy are bot accounts. We aren’t brain dead you actual idiot.
right on time, Lunch and something to watch. and anything from coaster bot is welcomed
I've actually been a performer at Cedar Point in 2018 and 2019! About to begin rehearsals for my third season starting mid-May 2021! This park holds a very special place in my heart and is truly one of the best in the world!
That's awesome! Have a fantastic season :)
People like you take these parks from good to great! Thank you 😊
Love Cedar Fair! Home park is Canada’s Wonderland. Started going to Cedar Point in the late 90’s, got my first ride on Millennium in 2001 and have been back multiple times. Also been to Kings Island several times and Carowinds once...2015 when Fury opened! Looking forward to going back to those and checking out some of the others!!
That's awesome! :)
Great video, but I lol’d at your pronunciation of Muskegon Michigan :)
As a person from Michigan myself, i must agree.
As an Ohio native, I can agree. Cringe, but he isn't from the US by his accent so it's an easy thing to mispronounce.
Wow! That ranks up there with your Wildfire video as 2 of my favorites on your channel. I can only imagine The amount of research, planning and editing that you invested to make this masterpiece!
Thanks man, as always, we really appreciate it. 👌
I wish cedar fair did something with poor old Michigan adventures 😥
didnt they just get a great new kids area?
@@alexzuelke5209 yea but no new thrill coasters I think shivering timber’s was there newest coaster
Michigan adventures will be a crappy park and I will never visit it until it gets a new coaster. Throw a RMC raptor in it for God's sake.
@@theduder7709 rmc wildcat would be good
@@dogboss-hu8sw there newest was thunderhawk in 2008 :)
RMC wildcat would be amazing. Throw in a Chance-Morgan Hyper GTX like Lightning Run, and it could be a top 5 cedar fair park
As a resident of South East Michigan, I have visited Cedar Point many times. It is always a ton of fun!!
cedar point is definitely on my bucket list, it looks amazing
Its worth it, no matter how far you are from it.
I heard that one of the owners that sunk the millions in it initially stated he wanted Cedar Point to be the Disney World of the Midwest. I’ve kind of thought that for a long time before hearing it and now every time I’m there, I look around in awe as I totally see it coming together! I’d say it’s the flagship park and is definitely worth the hype!
Have had six flags season passes for years because Great America is an hour away, but every other year we get Cedar Fair season passes and take massive coaster road trips because they are great parks. I used to live in Michigan and ever summer took a road trip to Cedar point back in the 80's, didn't go again until the 2000's and didn't even recognize it and it has only gotten better. I have been on a lot of coasters and Steel Vengeance has got to be my favorite, it was worth the wait for the rebuild.
That's awesome, especially to see Cedar Point grow as a park between visits :)
I’ve been to Carowinds and Dorney park, Dorney is my home park so I go there frequently over the summer, I find that Dorney gets, not boring, but a bit stale as I’ve ridden their coasters so many times, Carowinds was a very nice cedar fair refresher especially with having one of the country’s best coasters. So all in all I like Cedar Fair but I do wish that it does what six flags does which is add something new to all of their parks almost annually instead of just prioritizing their biggest parks
Yeah sometimes it is a shame they prioritise but they obviously have a reason for doing it.
They actually seem to go in some kind of roundabout with their parks, usually in regional bursts opening new rides at parks in certain areas over the course of a few years. As their home park, they completely dote on Cedar Point though, 100% the one they give the most love. While Steel opened in 2018, I know they aren't done yet as 1 or maybe 2 rides are going out this year, so I have a feeling by 2023 Cedar Point will be getting something new again.
THIS WAS THE BEST VID YOU EVER DID.
CEDAR POINT.
AMERICA'S ROCKIN ROLLER COAST.
BOOM.
I love how you explain and go into detail what a theme park or an interesting ride there. I also like that you tell the history of the park or ride.
Thanks for watching and the for the kind comment :)
Cedar fair parks are so freaking well kept
I literally love this channel
Great video Harry. I've been to Knotts, CGA and Kings Island. They definitely have a different vibe compared to Six Flags parks.
Thanks! I can see that :)
Magnum XL-200 is the second best ride I've been on, first being Maverick (also at Cedar Point)
live in toronto, had season pass for canada's wonderland for many years in my teens, was amazing. Fear fest in october is sweet too. I went to cedar point on a trip and was amazed with the rides there! I am rather blessed lol.
Canadas wonderland is always a great time
I wish i could go to American parks, i mean im just stuck with Icon and the smiler
well they are pretty good.....
cedar points about to get a better version of the smiler i think
take a shot every time he says "respectively"
I used to work at Cedar Point. It was a great experience.
That's awesome, what did you do there exactly? :)
CF was actually changing the name *back* to Geauga Lake, which it had been from 1888-1999. Six Flags had bought adjoining parks Geauga Lake and SeaWorld Ohio and then renamed the combined properties Six Flags Ohio (2000) and then Six Flags Worlds of Adventure (2001).
Nice to know the history of Cedar Fair, thanks for the video.
I’ve been to three Cedar Fair parks (Cedar Point, Kings Island, and Worlds of Fun). Point is my all time favorite, but kings island is right up there with it! (And I want to get out to Carowinds someday; Fury 325 looks amazing!!!)
Thank you for putting together this great video about the history of one of my favorite places! I’ll be watching part 2 soon!
I live an hour from Sandusky, and have been attending Cedar Point all my life. It is truly amazing and now I even work there. From both a guest and an employee perspective, Cedar Fair has truly dominated in the industry, and offers unparalelled experiences. With Cedar Point especially... name a world record we haven't broken, please try, while we may not still hold them all, we did it first, offering new and unique experiences with most new ride openings. With Wicked Twister, and potentially MaxAir going down soon, can't help but wonder what they're up to next.
Cedar fair is like an RMC
Six flags is like an SLC
Cedar fair is like B&M because they’re just smart and reliable and they k me what they’re doing
Six flags is like intamin because they always fail and they’re overrated
Disney is an slc
I wish I had been to a Cedar Fair park. I’m desperate to get over to the states and give some a try.
Great video, as always. Really enjoy the What is... series and the Explained vids.
Very nice and thorough job, Harry and Zoey!
Thank you! :)
I've been to two Cedar Fair parks, Cedar Point (my home park) and Kings Island. Both were amazing experiences. These two are also the only amusement parks I've been to (unless I get a trip to Kennywood this year).
Being an Ohio native Cedar Point is visited every season. I only live around an hours drive away. Kings Island is 3.5 hours away. Easily doable but why drive further when CP is near home? We still visit KI just not every season.
My earliest memories of CP are from the 70s. We've visited yearly ever since 78. My parents took me, I took my children and now have a vacation planned for summer to give our grandson his first experience. Not just first to CP but to any amusement park.
In our family we love Cedar Fair parks. I would like to visit more outside Ohio. Just gotta make the time.
One idea, how about Triple Five Group explained? They are the people behind the Nickelodeon Universe parks and Galaxyland.
You don’t hear about them that often!
Great video on my favorite amusement park chain! Michigan's Adventure is my home park (though I go to CP way more often since it's my favorite park).
Your pronunciation of Muskegon Michigan is so funny, great video as well
Ha ha thank you :)
Michigan's Adventure does not hold a Halloween event. It's my home park. I also worked at Cedar Point for a summer.
I only been to 2 Cedar Fair parks Wonderland and Cedar Point maybe one day I’ll go to the other ones like Carowinds Kings Island and Kings Dominion
Kings Island is probably the best park in Ohio. Beautiful place, clean, friendly staff, great rides. Cedar Point has Lake Erie and Sandusky Bay for its backyard and it is a beautiful and historic place as well. I was fortunate enough to work at Cedar Point for 4 seasons. Learned a great deal and am glad for the experience.
I've only been to Knotts (pre-Cedar Fair), Worlds of Fun and Cedar Point, plan on going to Carowinds soon to check out Fury and Copperhead.
I've been to Kings Island and Cedar Point and I love both parks!
The development of the company over the years is interesting to say the least. I’ve been to two of their parks and found them largely enjoyable.
It's been very interesting!
Great Video! We love having Fun Outdoors!
Thanks, and great to hear! :)
I’ve been to six (seven if you count Gilroy Gardens) Cedar Fair parks: California’s Great America (my home park, Knott’s Berry Farm, Cedar Point, Kings Island, Kings Dominion and Carowinds.
I have been to CP, KI, KD, CS and Canada's Wonderland. Its a great chain with great rides, amazing atmosphere, good food and is kept clean and managed well. I prefer Cedar fair parks over Six Flags parks. KI is my home park and I will be there on Saturday for pass holder preview day.
That's awesome
Love the video, but I adore the way you pronounced 'Muskegon" :D Lived here my whole life and love seeing how people say it differently. Keep up the amazing vids!
Thanks! I thought people might pick up a few of my bad US place pronunciations, so it's expected ha ha :)
Can we get a Blackpool Pleasure Beach explained/ history because i know thats got a lot and id love to know!
Fantastic video!
Thanks! :)
Like cedar fair parks and I love your vids toooo
As someone who lives near Michigan’s Adventure I really want a new coaster there
Great video Harry!! I'd honestly love to go to Cedar Point some point in my life, it has so many cool rollercoasters but I'm worried by the time I actually go, most of the rlly rlly good rollercoasters would had likely closed by then😭😭great video mate👍
@TheHoffenator7 because by the time I go, it'll likely be like 2035 so most things would've closed due to old age😂
@TheHoffenator7 ahhhh fair enough, lucky me then🙂
I go to Cedar Point and Kings Island every year, infact im going next month to cedar point. I’ve been to Cedar Point, Kings Island and Carowinds, all great parks.
I’m planning on taking my first ride on an airplane to come here later this year. I hope it works out and it’s going to make me feel like a kid again
Funny enough, I'm 2 hours away from King's Dominion (last time I had went was on a summer day camp trip in '94) and 2 hours 45 minutes from Dorney Park (never been there).
You'll have to visit both! :)
Yay he talked about Valleyfair!!!!!
Let's goo!!
Cedar Fair parks are my favorite.
Great video
As an ride operator of worlds of fun owned by cedar fair. It’s probably the only corporate thing I actually like because it’s very good work conditions and very good pay
The first song in this video is After All by Geographer.
Knotts is my home park, I live 15 minutes away. Magic Mountain may have the roller coasters, but I'll take a day at Knotts over MM anytime
Knott's is the one Cedar Fair park I've been to as I used to live in Southern California. I did go to Marriott's Great America way back in the day before it was acquired by Cedar Fair. I am however going to be visiting Cedar Point and King's Island in a little over a month from now. :) I do find it fascinating that Six Flags has more guests per year than Cedar Fair. Though I suppose that's a function of the sheer number of parks Six Flags owns. I think it's an accomplishment that Cedar Fair approaches Six Flags in terms of yearly attendance given it has fewer parks. It says a lot about the quality of the experiences Cedar Fair has to offer compared to Six Flags.
Carowinds is my home park!
I have been to ValleyFair and it is a great park! But it’s time for a new coaster
I wish there was a Cedar Fair park in Texas, this state really needs competition!
Great video and great accent my home park is kings island and Orion is amazing I am wanting to go cedar point and kings dominion so bad so I can ride Intimidator and Millennium
i went to the wild water kingdom in ohio however i was too young to go to geauga lake and it closed before i was old enough however i went to the water park and was there on its final day ever i have so many memories with my family at that park may it rest in peace
Imagine living in the Valley Point mirror universe.
I’d be happy cuz I really want VF to get a new coaster for once
I’ve only been to 2 CF parks Dorney and kings dominion.
Yes I have been to several Cedar Point Cedar Fair company parks and to watch the company growth from within Ohio in which I'm from to see the company expand and growth is astounding and watching to become the company are now says a lot and I think they can go further in BT Six Flags as well and beating up to Dollywood and Silver Dollar City and many other amusement parks companies that exist in the states
nice video
I live 20 minutes from kings island, it's great
I normally watch these for the editing but damn I actually learned quite a bit about Cedar Point that I didn't know
Great video :D
Thanks that means a lot :)
Love cedar fair with my home park being cedar point
That's awesome :)
my home park is dorney, but im also an hour away from six flags great adventure. i wish cedar fair cared more about little dorney but with it sandwiched in between two juggernauts (great adventure and hersheypark), that attract way more attendance, i can see why they dont.
Yeah, it is a shame Dorney Park doesn't get a lot of investment.
worlds of fun is my home park (i live about 15 mins away from it, actually!) and my personal opinion is that cedar fair picks favorites. worlds of fun used to get new rides every year, but that stopped. i dont remember what the last big addition we got was, and i think what WOF really needs is a new coaster. wof is really fun, but i dont think people are looking to go there for vacation like they are places like cedar point or kings island. i think cedar fair needs to gie more love to the smaller parks. I think oceans of fun is more fun than WOF, actually. more worth the money.
Can you do six flags too because i love this i want to know there history too :)
Btw this video was just wow they have so many giga and 1 strata and other 😮👍👍👍
Seeing those early videos of cedar point had me like :🤯🤯
Your videos are amazing!! Everything you put out is top quality.
If you want a true Midwest pronunciation affiliate, I'd be willing to be your guy ;)
Minneapolis = mini-apple-iss (you threw an "Indianapolis" extra syllable in there.
Muskegon = muss-key-gun, emphasis on second syllable. Rather than "musky-gone"
Thanks for the kind words and for the top tips in pronunciation!
I find that I learn how to pronounce a place name, then don't need to say that place name ever again (or at least for ages) so completely forget it ha ha :)
I would have explained what Cedar Fair is, and then (separately in a different video), broke down all these rides, etc., if you wanted.
14:38 Wrong... Michigans Adventure doesnt do anything for halloween and isnt open beyond Labor day.
Carowinds is badass
I would love to go to a Cedar Fair Park. I have a chance to go California's Great Adventure, and Knotts Berry Farm this year! Hopefully. *Fingers crossed* I have no chance in hell making my way over to Ohio to ride coasters at Cedar Park. I really, really want to ride Coasters at a theme that are in direct competition with Six Flags Magic Mountain. xD It would be glorious!
I hope you get to go to both of those parks, they look great! :)
I’ve just been to the 1 2 punch in Ohio. Loved every second of both
Six Flags Explained video?
How ironic is it that a ride named "Flying Dutchman" isn't a Vekoma Flying Dutchman model?
respectively
i work at kings island lolz
Cedar fair has done very well, the only thing I object with was shutting down Geauga lake. I believe it was a mistake, it was a great park and given the platinum season pass would have helped eliminate over crowding in either park.
Invest more in Kings Dominion...please :)
Can’t believe Cedar Point started before the game RDR2 even took place.
How can Merlin be ahead of Cedar Fair? Is Dollywood and Silverdollar City that big of a draw?
I knew cedar point was the first park
9:18 lol still does have potential. please, cedar fair. give us something. anything.
You sound like the narrator from Astrum
7:10 Logan
Hi, native Michiganian here. It's pronounced Muss-key-gun.
Cedar Fair saved Canada's Wonderland!
Cedar Fair is a very popular theme park chain in the universe! (Sorry for the late comment, I was too busy with realistic stuff.)
KINGS ISLAND IS MY HOME PARK
That's awesome
UPDATE: California's Great America is set to close somewhere within the next 11 years.
I know, it's sad!
Cedar Fair focuses more on thrills than theming. Whilst theming is good, thrills are better imo. As a North American amusement park chain, I generally like Cedar Fair the most; more than Seaworld, Disney and yes, even Six Flags.
I definitely agree with your thrills over theming statement
😎😎😎😎😎
