This is reminding me of Mary Poppins! “In every job that must be done, there is an element of fun. You find that fun, and snap! It’s a game!” Your girls found that spark and it is beautiful to see 🤍
@@TheDailyConnoisseur I’m f you have time, I encourage you to do a full video with Mary Poppins inspiration! I think of how determined she was, but also poised and cheerful. By bringing order to the Banks family, the minds of the children become more creative and imaginative. The parents in the first movie were distracted. They had a façade of order, but there was zero connection in the family. In the second, Michael’s life is out of order (understandably) and she brings them back to structure, which actually serves to free the children’s minds from responsibilities that were not theirs to hold. I often think about Mary Poppins in my life. She encourages me to keep my voice calm and my mind steadfast. When I do that I’m somehow free to enjoy the flowers a little more! 🥰
It use to be for me that cleaning = drudgery. However, having been consistent in keeping a gratitude journal, I have completely shifted my thinking. Now I can clearly see that cleaning one’s home is a PRIVILEGE. A privilege of health and good fortune to name a few. So do it cheerfully because many would LOVE to be in your place.
Several years ago reading comments on a you tube cleaning video, a woman that was homeless said she wished she had a home to clean, she longed for that. Her comment really brought me up short! I am grateful for my home, it is small and simple but cozy and comfortable.
Jennifer, thank you for these videos. My good friend introduced me to your channel a couple of years ago and since this past new year, we’ve been on an intermittent (11-7) journey together and have accumulatively lost around 50 pounds. I’m currently decluttering my home while listening to cozy acoustic music and have also grown to love hot teas. I have purchased beautiful dresses for myself that I would’ve never worn before and I just feel simply feminine and beautiful when other ladies comment on them. I have a LONG ways to go overall, but your channel (along with my dear friend) has been such a sweet addition to my life.
Thank you!!! “Stress cleaning” can…affect my mental health, to say the least (the cleaning & results are great, but the stress that comes with it is NOT)! ❤
Great video. I personally rarely have to declutter because I keep my house clutter free every day. It helps that it is only my husband and myself in the home (and a teeny dog). No children living at home and my husband and I are neat freaks so the house is always spotless. lol. People walk in and comment how they can stop in un announced at any time and the house is so neat and clean. I'm not saying this to brag, it is just how we both are and it is what brings us peace. I really enjoy watching decluttering videos because watching people declutter also makes me happy (yes, i am weird lol)
After I carefully explained why we want to have a clean room to my daughter, she now takes so much creative license in tidying and organizing her room. She sees the value in taking care of her things and having a clean space that's not overwhelming. She has plenty of room to play each day. I'm so proud of her!
Hello Jennifer. Ohhhh 🥰 your daughter’s video decluttering and tidying up their space is cute, adorable and inspiring. They have a wonderful model in you. Thank you for showing us how to delight our lives and make us shine and improve. 🌸
Your daughters video was precious! I've now started doing this (in my mind) as I'm cleaning I'm picturing filming this. It really does change the way I look at cleaning
Jennifer, that purple blouse looks gorgeous on you. Listening to an audiobook while cleaning or decluttering definitely makes time fly. Thank you for your inspiring video.
My daughter sent me a text last week: "Just spent three hours cleaning my fridge. Verdict: We are gross people. I even found an earring! I" I called her and we both had a good laugh about it. You are right we take it all too seriously!!
This came in a timely manner! Before my son left for summer camp, he asked what I will be doing while he’s gone and I told him decluttering/organizing. Surprisingly, he asked me if I could also help him do the same with his room and closet when he gets back! He usually cleans his own room and bathroom, but usually just vacuuming and stuffing things in drawers/closet/under the bed. I realized especially with teens, sometimes it might be a little overwhelming and don’t know where to start, and they just need a little help and an organizational system that works for them. I ordered some organizational trays/bins for when he returns. Also, I’ve kept his own cordless vacuum in his closet for convenience and amazingly, he probably vacuums more than I do!😂
Hey Jennifer, I’ve enjoyed reading Lessons from Madame Chic. I’ve been wearing skirts and dresses only for the past two years or so. I’ve been entertaining guests in my home now, play dates and church members, versus always meeting at the parks and splash pads like I used to. I have found it to be quite the fulfilling experience to welcome people into my home and entertain them, and take much delight in serving them and making sure they have snacks and food and drinks filled. Your books and channel have added so much dimension to my life! I wish that I had done these things as a teenager. 🌹
"Take it slow" Thank you, this applies to so many things. I have recently started sewing again and I notice my old habits of wanting to rush and feeling the pressure to get it finished are still with me. I am deliberately slowing down each step in the process to really understand and enjoy it (and hopefully make better garments). Your video today really spoke to me.
Thank you, this is so uplifting. I will go into my afternoon as a stay at home mom and housewife with a better attitude and enjoy the chores I have facing me.thanks for the reminder!
I love your videos. Sometime I don’t look at yt or social media because I don’t want or to make me feel worse about myself and how I care for my home…but yours never make me feel that way! You’re so soothing and gentle, which has kinda been my jam lately. 😊
I do my housework in a frenzy, like get it done, get it done. Well I always have, although in the past months, I’ve been channeling Jennifer and wiping down my benches in a slower measured manner, looking into the black granite, really looking at it, and when pegging out my washing, looking at each piece of clothing, appreciating it, being grateful. It’s a wondrous thing to slow down and feel the experience.
for me, being fully present with what im doing is key, or i will feel disconnected inside and later on depressed or anxious. No type of music, podcast, audio book, candles, flowers, etc can make the process pleasurable if i dont feel doing it in my body and i cannot be present. I actually find that doing things by adding distractions to work against my inner guidance and not be respectful to my body. Is like stepping out of my body and doing things mechanically. If my body doesnt agree with doing something, then it shouldnt be done, otherwise it may lead me to exhaustion and burnout, illness and even unfortunate situations as it happened in the past. Forcing something over my body simply doesnt work for me, including in homemaking. But, i have to say that i love doing house cleaning and i dont have clutter. I simply enjoy the finished cleaned result, is so satisfying. Sometimes though when i need to do a chore and it doesnt feel right i just wait until it does. Things may turn into a mess, and i need to calm my mind down because my body is always right and i know from past experiences that waiting for a yes signal inside of me is worth the wait. I learned to trust this perfect timing that my body has. Even though mind is saying " you should do this, do that", body knows better and so many times i was in awe to discover that this lead to good things and better health.
I listen to YOU Jennifer for inspiration and calm when doing all sorts of tasks in the home. I reach for your videos when I need to calm anxious feelings and overwhelm 💕🌸
I discovered that when I get grumpy doing tasks like these, it’s often because I get overheated. This problem got really bad in my late 40s and 50s, I can’t get hormone therapy. So, I now make sure I wear cool, lightweight clothes, drink water, use a fan if necessary, and take my time while working on household chores. This made a huge difference for my ironing, I always thought I hated it, but then I discovered that I really just hated getting so overheated while doing it. I enjoy it now, it’s sort of a Zen-like thing, for me at least. I like doing work on my feet.
Jennifer, Thank you so much for sharing about your changing attitudes on breathing exercises! Many highly productive people start off feeling exactly the way you described, and then just like you they soon realize that breathing exercises actually enhance both productivity and well-being! Thank you for sharing, and for inspiring all of us in the Daily Connoisseur community 🥰
Jennifer I am eternally grateful for your wisdom and mentorship. I have implemented so many of your suggestions in my life. I continue to appreciate your research and delivery so much. You are a bright light that has helped transform and cultivate growth for me that I continue to soak in. You are living out a beautiful calling. I can't wait to show this to my kids!
I have read all of your books and loved them all, but I especially loved Connoisseur Kids. I read the book out loud during dinner and we had really great conversations about manners, eating, etc. and would work on a section a week as a family.
I can strongly agree with everything you said ❤ Especially having the flowers and candles ready to use after the decluttering. It feels like you are working for these small rewards, up to the big reward of a well functioning and pleasant home 🌻
ALL great tips! Thank you for this video. I struggle with decluttering, mostly bc I have difficulty in making decisions and I’m a very sentimental Creature. Also the suggestion of dressing in your nice clothes to feel better. I felt that! Cas from Clutterbug has even dressed in 1950’s housewife dresses, and I loved that idea because my mom was a 1950’s housewife and I admired her so much for being able to keep our small modest home so perfectly tidy. 😊❤
Decluttering is what I do to relax! I love it. I’m always looking for some closet or cupboard I can tidy and/or declutter. I joke I like to buy things just so I can declutter them in a few months. 😉 But I can apply your techniques to the jobs I don’t like. 😁 Have a great week.
Loved this one. I actually like to clean and declutter, but always rushed through it to get to the next thing on my list. Slowing down is a game changer. I am borrowing my new mantra from you "You want to create an atmosphere of beauty and wellness in your home". Thank you for all the inspiration you provide.
I would watch your daughters' videos for inspiration. How fun is that? I usually do a major declutter in January and June so this is great timing. Thank you for your gentle encouragement and beautiful video.
So true Jennifer, I love Connoisseur kids. Your kids Minnie Jennifer you have taught them well , and they take pride in a beautiful space for themselves. They have seen you organize even though you did not like doing it now it’s gone full circle showing you how they make it pleasurable. Bravo Jennifer!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🌸
“Rage Cleaning” 🤣🤣🤣 Seriously, though, this is my favorite aspect of decluttering that you touched on: the fact that our kids are watching us as we clean & organize makes our approach doubly important! Thanks for this perspective! ❤
These are great tips, as I am currently feeling like decluttering. And I'm taking my time in each room. I started and my son's room, and then I decluttered a bunch of my books that I am not going to read again, and I will be moving on to my daughter's room❤ good reminder to enjoy the process!
I really loved everything you shared but especially the last bit about setting a good example for our children in taking care of the home. Everything you shared is so true plus we don’t want to send the message that caring for our family is drudgery. We want to create a safe home filled with love. Decluttering with a heart turned toward our family is such a good reminder. 🥰
I have completely opposite feelings about decluttering😌 i don’t like to keep things that are not useful and even the ones I have I limit them greatly. I enjoy decluttering a lot. I feel so relieve, so calm and content seeing useless items disappear from my house. Afterwards I love to make coffee and look around how tidy, spacious and clean is my home😊
I love this. Thank you so much for sharing! I have been putting off decluttering my craft/office room and after watching this video and the clips of your children I am now inspired to tackle the room. I was wondering why I was not feeling inspired to create and it's because of the clutter. I need to set the environment so I can be creative.
Thank you for this video, Jennifer! Something I've really needed to see and hear lately. Your daughters' film you shared was so nice! My kids enjoy making Lego stop-motions every week and me and my husband are so thankful that they are creating and using their brains.😊
I love that you've created a sense of joy and fun around tidying and decluttering. It really shows your character that even your kids can use a common daily task as an inspiration for creativity. 💗
That's so amazing how your kiddos inspired you! Their creative decluttering videos were so awesome 🎉 I'm definitely going to remember this lesson & apply it within my own home. ❤
One of your viewers brought up the subject of DECISION OVERLOAD: my suggestion is to break a task into smaller tasks. Allow oneself to feel the sense of achievement when each small task is completed. As you go, layer in fun, breathing, smiling while working, looking presentable and chic, and hydrating. Just keep each task small and manageable, a kitten instead of a cougar. Then listen to your intuition to know whether to do a little everyday, or a little more three times a week, or change it up. I find de-cluttering difficult, but I know performing it is magic.
Mostly, thanks to you, I’ve learned to enjoy working in my home most of the time! My daughter, however, does not. I’m going to suggest that she create a video like your daughters do! That’s one of her hobbies, but she has never done a tidying up video..
I would love if you did an episode on how you kept it together when your kids were small (assuming you managed to, lol!). I have a 5 month old and I honestly feel like things are pretty chaotic and out of control right now.
This video is well timed. We’re finishing up homeschooling for the year right now and gardening and canning season is in full swing. The clutter around the house is really bothering me. I just need to take a few minutes here and there and work on it.
This is something I need right now! Thank you Jennifer I shall take notice of my breathing from now on! Also I do wear my old clothes when I'm fluttering but now I'll wear a nice outfit or dress to make myself feel good 😊 I notice you've had your hair cut it looks nice 😍 thank you for this video wish me luck!!!
I actually really enjoy decluttering and cleaning. My mind has so many things to think about and figure out that the mundane tasks are a destresser time for me. Like a low hum instead of loud, clangy noises.
Love your two large silver chaffing dishes. Can you share what you serve from them? Would love to know! You always have such delicious meals. Thanks, and hello from NC.
Hahahah omg I thought my littlest ones were the only that film themselves! They have daily chores and for some reason recording while cleaning makes their chores so much enjoyable!
I love to de-clutter. I think it's enjoyable for some of us, and not for others. I do other things I must but don't care for that others might enjoy. I have a friend who likes to iron. When I de-clutter I am making room in my head and my home...'Space for creativity and peace.
I don’t know why this works for me but if I’m doing housework (washing dishes, emptying the trash, etc) and I wear my hair in one of those giant hair claws and I’m wearing my workout shoes (ones with good cushioning sole) I just move faster, and I feel good when doing housework. If I wear flat sandals or I’m barefoot and I’m doing housework, it takes whole different affect on where my mind and body are (in a negative way)when doing chores.
Lovely ideas for decluttering, Jennifer. Question on an item I saw in your video 9:35 mark. What is the white aparatus you have on the counter? Is it a plant starter kit? If so, do you like it?
That is a different countertop herb grower than I used before. This one requires seeds and I plan to try it out soon. If it's good I'll mention it on the channel. Thank you!
I have just been changing over my winter clothes for me summer ones. It took far too l o n g. Which only means one thing. I have e far too many clothes. So tomorrow will be session two. 😬
I have a friend who's always surprised that i wear my nice summer dresses to do my chores at home. I feel like i can achieve more if i feel put together.
I'm thoroughly enjoying reading your AT HOME WITH MADAME CHIC and your great attitude on decluttering. Curious: does clutter cause Hoarding disease or does Hoarding disease cause clutter (or is it a combination of both)?

Cleaning and decluttering is an art, so we can approach it like a canvas
Thank you for this video, Jennifer! Something I've really needed to see and hear lately. Your daughters' film you shared was so nice! My kids enjoy making Lego stop-motions every week and me and my husband are so thankful that they are creating and using their brains.😊
I love that you've created a sense of joy and fun around tidying and decluttering. It really shows your character that even your kids can use a common daily task as an inspiration for creativity. 💗
I LOVE THE KIDS VIDEOS! You have set such an amazing example for your children ❤
Thank you so much! ♥
¡Gracias!
Thank you so much ♥️
This video came out at the perfect time for me. I am working on decluttering some areas of my house this week. This video has been so helpful ❤
The girls video was adorable!
That's so amazing how your kiddos inspired you! Their creative decluttering videos were so awesome 🎉
I'm definitely going to remember this lesson & apply it within my own home. ❤
Just what i needed. I was thinking about my life and living it and doing the tidying up abd it seems less domestic when its part of your life.
Really enjoyed this video, good tips. Thanks Jennifer ❤
Loved this video! And your daughters videos were awesome!! 👏🏻
Thank you so much Jennifer, great motivation for today! I am listening to you as I get going on my desk area.
Great day. Reminders. And I am going to order some tea
This video is well timed. We’re finishing up homeschooling for the year right now and gardening and canning season is in full swing. The clutter around the house is really bothering me. I just need to take a few minutes here and there and work on it.
Thank you for making this video!❤
This is something I need right now! Thank you Jennifer I shall take notice of my breathing from now on! Also I do wear my old clothes when I'm fluttering but now I'll wear a nice outfit or dress to make myself feel good 😊 I notice you've had your hair cut it looks nice 😍 thank you for this video wish me luck!!!
Such an enjoyable and inspiring video!
I actually really enjoy decluttering and cleaning. My mind has so many things to think about and figure out that the mundane tasks are a destresser time for me. Like a low hum instead of loud, clangy noises.
I’m having so much difficulty decluttering my wardrobe. There are still so many clothes that I’ve never worn and are too big for me. I need help🙂
Love your two large silver chaffing dishes. Can you share what you serve from them? Would love to know! You always have such delicious meals. Thanks, and hello from NC.
We only use them for dinner parties/ holidays. They are great for feeding a crowd and keeping the food hot...
Your pantry looks fine!
We just finished the chapter on tdying of the connoisseur book early this month. 😊
Wow!!! They are so TALENTED ❤❤
thanks again
Loved ❤
I'd love to listen to you read your books on Audible 😊.
Rage cleaning! I didn’t realize there was a name for it. 😂 Thank you for this video and shift in perspective.
Hello madam! What do you let them use to edit their videos?! ❤
Rage cleaning in our drudgery clothes! That made me really laugh 😂
Great video, thank you! ❤
I just wish I could declutter more! 9 people in our home makes for quite a bit of stuff.
Great video Jennifer! 💜
Thank you, Samantha!
I get great pleasure decluttering 🌹
@thedailyconnoisseur Is this your home? It’s beautiful. ❤
Thank you!
So glad you're enjoying AT HOME xx
I'm inspired!😊
The reason decluttering can be stressful is from 'decision overload'.
A few years ago my daughter would also make cleaning videos 😊
I mean, those roses in your house Jennifer.... I am so jealous. 😁
Do your children do handme downs and ups?
