I've been scrolling through different videos and this same comment keeps popping up everywhere by the same person. What a shame to waste time lieing to people like that.
Thanks bud, white oak is my favourite wood to work with for sure. for the cabinets it was a lot more timed cost effective to purchase them from a cabinet shop and assemble myself. That said I feel most people who would like to try create this project are likely to modify existing cabinets or buy cabinets from the likes of Ikea so I thought it was best to skip the cabinet stage in this video.
Wow is beautiful. I have a question. I am installing new flooring in my kitchen this week but i would like to fix my countertop later on. Should i wait first to fix the island before flooring or can I do flooring and then fix the island?
Hey Thank you. If you are replacing the panels on the side and back I would wait until the new flooring is in, that way the panels can sit on top of the new floor rather than it being butt up to the island.
Where did you find the material to make the simple side panel of the island. I am having issues finding a board or material big enough to cut to that size?
Ok. Wondering where you said you left an inch and a half between each cut. I didnt quite see 1.5 inches between cuts so I dont know what you meant by that. How much space roughly was between each irregular piece for the back wall?
How much of an overhang on the seating side? I’d like to build a center island/table, so that you can actually sit around the entire thing. Thanks in advance. NAD
Its a tough one to price but for me on Vancouver Island the material cost was around $1200 CAD which includes cabinets and hardware, white oak lumber, 2 sheets of 1/2" mdf and it all sprayed up. It could defiantly be done cheaper if you painted it yourself and purchased the cabinets from a big box store. rather then off a cnc cabinet supplier.
All I need is a track saw, plainer, jigsaw, tape measure, sander, couple levels, work bench, drill, nail gun, Brad nailer, and a couple people to help. 1500 before even starting isn't that bad.
hola, estoy remodelando mi cocina, y quiero saber que tipo de pintura usas para los muebles de cocina, gracias por tu ayuda, saludos desde Chile... me encantó la isla
Great video mate, the island looks great. I’m going to be building one in my new basement bar. How much space did you leave for the bar overhang/place for the stools? Looks about 20cm? Thanks.
Love this!! Definitely using this as a guide to build mine. I love the back of your island and want to do this but on both sides of mine (it will be a double sided bar in between family room and kitchen). Any recommendations on what kind of cabinetry I should use?
Really nice......looking at building something similar. wondering if your side panels are MDF aswell? if so what do you use for the unfinished/cut end.....do you just glue vinyl strips on the ends and paint same color?
How did you make the side panels? They looked thicker on the part facing away from the drawers. Did you just double up the MDF in this area? How did you get the seam to look like one thick piece of wood instead of two? Thanks! Coronavirus lockdown has me doing some home improvement :)
Hi I used mdf doubled up at the back 12 ". The main reason for this was to hide the awkward seam and the steps in the raised back panel. It also gave it a chunkier feel. I used a paintable edge tape but you could just seal the two ends with wood glue, sand back and apply filler to the seam. heavy primer would help too as mdf endgrain is very absorbent. keep sanding back and reapplying until its smooth like the face. Hope this helps and isn't extremely confusing.
I told my boyfriend I wanted an kitchen island and he actually made me one☺️ He used this video as a tutorial to make it! I love it so much💕

Great stuff... Got inspired by the design. Thank you...
Just a question; wouldn't it be possible to get the same result with a router?
Great video and the island looks great but I'm not sure it is the best DIY tutorial with all the pro gear you got ^^
6:37 The pencil thingy 👌👌

I would of liked to see you build the cabinet boxes but still a great build good job! Choosing white oak over red oak was a great choice.

@@RadDadBuilds thanks
You make everything look so easy.
If you can please provide the length and width of this kitchen island.
did you add a fan?
Ok. Wondering where you said you left an inch and a half between each cut. I didnt quite see 1.5 inches between cuts so I dont know what you meant by that. How much space roughly was between each irregular piece for the back wall?
If you're referring to the back panel there is a half inch gap between each piece. Not sure why or when I said 1.5 but its half an inch.
How much of an overhang on the seating side? I’d like to build a center island/table, so that you can actually sit around the entire thing.
Thanks in advance.

Very nice. Hope you get help with your drinking problem.
Haha Thanks. The Quarantinies aren't helping.
Wicked job fella 👌🏼🏴👍🏼

Great job bro, What kind of wood did you use?
Thanks dude, the wood on the countertop is white oak.
Great video!
Thanks mate.
Just a full workshop then!!
Absolute great work! What would something like this cost? Building mine as we speak.
Its a tough one to price but for me on Vancouver Island the material cost was around $1200 CAD which includes cabinets and hardware, white oak lumber, 2 sheets of 1/2" mdf and it all sprayed up. @@RadDadBuilds To buy it, over $4000. US
Great video. How did you wire in your hob?

I really enjoy your video, great editing and hard works you and your grandpa are a great team!
Thank you
Great job!

Hey on the side panels are they 2 sheets of mdf together same as back panel? If so how did you disguise the 2 boards on edges. Definitely looks 👌.
I second this question, I don’t know what to use on the ends as well? Thanks
I have tiles fitted on my floor can I still install this
Absolutely
What are the measurements of the final product? Thanks!
It is indeed classy. You're very creative.
ThankYou
Great work dude. What's the width and depth of the total unit mate!
Where did you purchase cabinets from?
So lovely! Size?
Thankyou, the width of the island is 6 ft x 3ft.
Isn’t dust from MDF dangerous to breathe? Shouldn’t you wear like an N95 while doing those?
How did you install the cooktop?
What’s the length and width of your countertop for the island?
what are the dimensions of the carcus and the finish island top?
Great build. Should have had the baseboard painted white with the cutouts in black. Would have popped the tesselation pattern better.
It’s not a bad idea buddy
@@RadDadBuilds busy with my kitchen reno, Hope you don't mind me borrowing your idea. 😅
Beautiful! Where do I order mine?!

Hi what kind of wood did you use for your end panels? Great job
Thanks I used 2 pieces of mdf laminated together and then painted to match.
Nice island but you completely skipped the side build and explaining if you used edge banding or mitre cuts to square the end face?
the rad dad that loves to haul around a 9ah/12ah on 20v max tools
What wood did you use for the top?
this is dope! definitely need to try this when I redo my kitchen!
