Sometimes I wonder the reason why dio lost in the anime was because jotaro was focusing on training on just fighting people using his physical strength and gaining skills on how to punch people better like how a swordsmaster who uses the same sword but is able to skillfully counter different type of swords.
And the reason why dio lost is because he only focus on a single ability(timestop)
