The Piklopedia but with Normal Pikmin

- This is just a quick video showing off what happens when you replace the pikpik carrots with actual pikmin instead.
Some things of note:
Pikmin can be thrown in here just like normal, along with still acting random about it. They make no sounds at all, and in fact the game trying to play certain sounds with them crashes the game, so I had to disable those attempts in my code. There is still a limit of 100 pikmin here, and since the pikmin don't go away on their own, that limits you significantly. When an enemy is defeated in the piklopedia, it leaves no corpse.
0:40 Pikmin can't get buried in the piklopedia, instead they simply hit the ground like normal. The same happens with mamutas as shown later in the video.
1:00 Pikmin are able to be whistled by the Antenna Beetle fine, although its annoying to get it to actually happen.
1:26 Throwing pikmin into a candypop bud makes the game crash, likely because the game doesnt have the pikmin seeds loaded.
1:34 Honeywisp eggs attempting to make nectar drops causes a crash, but I got lucky here and was able to briefly show that if the egg drops mitites it works fine.
2:04 Pikmin attempting to pick up the pellet posies 1 pellet causes a crash. The log mentions the carry number display manager, but I suspect even besides that this would crash due to there being no onions present.
2:16 Finally we get to see an Empress rolling in the piklopedia!
3:49 The segmented Crawbster will never attack in the piklopedia, even when its being attacked itself.
4:40 The Raging Long Legs still drops mitites on death in the Piklopedia.
5:09 Theres nothing interesting about the games final boss, but perhaps if there were a way for it to have its weapons in here?
5:49 Some enemies, such as this one and the cannon beetles, are invincible during the piklopedia. This is most likely because they could hurt themselves with their own attacks in theory.
7:19 If you use purples instead of reds, you can defeat the Waterwraith itself within the Piklopedia! Although the limit of throwing 100 pikmin max makes it difficult...
Use this gecko code in order to mess with this yourself, but note it is for the USA Demo 1 version of Pikmin 2, so your best bet is to use it with Pikmin 251 or my 4 player hack. And be careful about the crashes that I showed in this. If you want to change what type of pikmin is thrown, change the value at the end of the first line: 0 = blue, 1 = red, 2 = yellow, 3 = purple, 4 = white, 5 = bulbmin, 6 = carrot

I always wished you could get the natural reaction to pikmin from enemies in the piklopedia rather than the one of pikpik carrots. That's one curiosity satisfied. Now I just wonder what would happen if purple pikmin were hacked into the submerged castle. Or if it's possible to spawn in and use more than 100 pikmin using an emulator with a simulated over clock.

This just makes me realize how amazing having a Pikmin game in VR would be. Imagine you're normal sized looking down on a Pikmin battlefield commanding them to attack and collect. While also being able to pick them up and toss them at enemies and such

An RTS period would be good in VR. I never thought about it but it would probably be fantastic to control small units in a sort of terrarium sized battlefield in VR.
There is a fork of Dolphin that is built for VR. There's only a handful of games that work with it and even less that I'd even consider a playable state but I have tested Pikmin VR and it's a really fun experience. It works surprisingly well besides some UI issues. If you can get a VR headset it's worth trying out!
Yeah I've played Pikmin 2 in VR with the DolphinVR Emulator. Pretty amazing to be honest..

This is the idea I've been dreaming for as long as I can remember playing Pikmin 2.
But what about the Treasure Hoard? I'm very interested in what happens if you can carry treasures there...
I'd imagine the same thing that happens when they tried to carry the pellets from the pellet posy in this video. That being the immediate crash of the game.

I think the reason why the candypop buds, pellet posies and honey wisps crash the game is because they aren't intended to drop anything.
Candypop Buds seem to be "no Pikmin Seeds" (note how the Snitchbug and Mamuta don't plant anyone), Posies seem to be "no Carrying" and Honeywisps are either "no Nectar", "no Sprays" or both, since they *can* drop Mitites.
Antenna beetle when pikmin is close:
Pikmin: stays 1 meter close to the beetle
Antenna beetle: *flyes to the sun*
This should have been a feature in the base game even if you have to 100% the story once. You did a amazing job with this none the less

The Piklopedia in Pikmin 3 Deluxe is entirely done with prerendered videos. There's no way to spawn Pikmin into an area that doesn't actually exist in the game.

it makes me interested in a mod where the piklopedia versions of the overworld stages are the versions in the campaign and that every single enemy that is placed in their piklopedia spot is placed in the stage. Valley of Repose would be hell, hope you like burrowing snagret and beady long legs spawning around your onions

I wonder why the health bar doesn't show up + the enemy immediately disappearing. I always wondered if the enemies in the Piklopedia were unique versions of themselves. Maybe these were the versions that were also used when first debugging the game before release in the testing stages. What makes me believe this is the fact that they despawn immediately after death and I remember hearing that if there isn't an onion/ship to carry it back to the game crashes (I could be wrong on this I actually kinda forget). So on the testing stages without Onions/Ship they could test the enemy ai and the corpse wouldn't crash the game if they accidentally picked it up. Just a therory
I just realized the Man-At-Legs makes the same sounds as Nightmare from Metroid Fusion (where it only ever appeared and nowhere else) when it's standing still. The sound is just pitched up and quickened.
The mitites were controlling Ragey all along!

I'm going to assume it's for the same reason the game crashed when the Pikmin touched the pellets.

They have the same effect from their whistling aura as the captains do, causing Pikmin to follow them calmly instead of you, but when they leap away, the Pikmin they took go into a panic until you call them back to you
They jam your treasure radar until they are defeated. They call Pikmin to their side to avoid being attacked.
