OCR or Crossfit, love the strength and conditioning of both. The female in the red pants was pushing hard. Totally badass. dude in the cowboy hat was great
I believe that both sports are walking hand in hand. It's easy to transition from one to another (From CrossFit to OCR you just need to start running more as you have everything else already, from OCR to CrossFit... well, CrossFit can be part of your strenght prep and all you will need is just to start lifting heavier stuff :-) ). It was amazing to see an OCR Athlete in CrossFit Games as well as it was great to see you guys in the Spartan Open Wave. Would also be great to see you at the OCR European or World championships as while conditions are not as cruel, the obstacles are much more technical thus require more strenght and grip endurance. Would love to see you take on that challenge next year :-)
@JH... Thanks for sharing your experience with us! OCR / Spartan race is legit! I did it years ago, when my knees could sustain the impact for the amount of running! Shout out to you for being an awesome sportsman and great competitor! And, a huge shout out to Hunter for leading like a true Champion of his sport!
It's cool to see you being a great ambassador for Crossfit and welcoming OCR guys in and vice-versa. At my box we welcome absolutely anyone who walks through the door and its literally why I love crossfit so much, its because of all of the other athletes. Heavy, small, young, old, everyone just puts in work to get better and supports each other. I think we should have that same attitude to other sports like OCR, it will just make Crossfit even better.
Best part about the CF and OCR community is the fans/spectators are active participants. The big picture of health, and movement is the winner at the end of the day.
Love your pacing on the first one man, you just stayed in your lane and ended up passing a couple dudes. I use to come out hot all the time and I’ve been learning this art of pacing lol
A lot of OCR athletes do CrossFit as part of their OCR training as well other endurance sports to supplement their training. Regardless of whether OCR or CrossFit athletes are the “fittest,” OCR athletes are the most “versatile” endurance athletes. In response to a previous post of you saying Spartan is not your ideal fitness...I’m going to assume that mostly has to do with not being a fan of running up and down steep hills. Especially, at high elevation. Makes sense. CrossFitters hate running-they just wanna clang & bang at sea level.
You could also argue that CrossFit is a more useful training method since OCR competitors use it to supplement their sport-specific training, while CF is already extremely broad in its use. Also, take OCR competitors into pretty much any other form of training and they can’t compete. The entire idea of CrossFit is that they may not beat specialists at their specialty, but they still perform well, and will come in 2nd in every event against one of every other type of fitness competitors.
You could make an argument for both being the fittest, including both being the most versatile. A lot of this was grunt work. No skill work like muscle-ups, handstand walking, barbell work, pistols, etc. Hunter is insanely fit, but fell short in the handstand portion of the Crossfit Games for example. Crossfitters were able to hang around and actually beat some of these OCR athletes in certain events that they don't train for. I think that says a lot. Hunter is the best at OCR so it would be interesting to throw Pat Vellner, BKG, Noah Ohlsen, or Mat Fraser in there and see how they do.
Johnnie don't you worry...we got some cool content coming out soon on this channel that I'm not allowed to discuss at this moment....but it'll be worth it.

I kept waiting for Jacob to look at the camera and say Bro I am straight up not having a good time.
Haha I kept it to myself.

Glad to you released this.
Slight nitpick, but referring to a Dball as an Atlas stone made me chuckle.

That was impressive- Hunter showing his skills and Jacob
is a class act besides being a CrossFit warrior. Great vid all around.
Love both crossfit and ocr races

I mean I don't have an issue running as long as it less than a 5k. haha going up and down mountains is rough on knees.

Clang and bang at sea level! 😂☠️ so awesome
Damn, all of this looks so fun!
Great vídeo! It would be nice to watch you trying diferente sports on a regular basis

The crossfit fit athletes need to run the course.
We did...we ran the 13.5 miles earlier that morning
That cowboy vibe is 🔥🔥🔥
Looks fun till ya think 8,000+ above sea level. Invite Hunter to do this in a Kansas summer.
Thx for sharing. Informative and fun...
That competition it's just weird man...
Great Vid cheers fella
cool location for fitness dude. how many degree where there?
8:33 thought Sweeney was going to body check Hunter
Aroo aroo
lots of peeps i know do both. so it's not really this versus that cause they complement each other
Who that hell is who and who?
Where can I get those pipes they’re lunging with.
ibsponger spartan website in their shop
Maybe hunter can lock out and get a full rep overhead
This is hard to watch. 😢 and I’m only 4:14 min in. This is almost inhuman.
These dudes wouldn't place in the top 20 in a CrossFit regional. Oh yeah, Oly Valley is 6200 ft at the base.
This is NOT crossfit lol
Who said it was?
she was quoting Emma Chapman from the video lol
It's not crossfit if someone doesn't get injured. 🤣
Fake pull ups vs actual pull ups. Crossfit vs OCR
Facts
Love aspects of both
