Our family bought one of the first few Nano's in chennai from Tafe Reach. It was one of the first few cars to be delivered, in chennai( flame red. )We sold our maruti 800,and took the decision to book the Nano. We had it till 2013,after which we sold it to the same dealer and bought a Vista, which we have till today, it's a perfect replacement for Ambassador, but much more refined. Nano was driven by us for many times to Puttaparthy, in Telangana. We travelled to Kerala once or twice. It was a wonderful car. Absolutely no complaints. Vista is a perfect family vehicle, wonderful pickup. Maintenance free, extremely good pickup, unbelievable mileage. My vista is still in showroom condition. But all said and done, I do regret selling my wonderful Nano. Bought it for ₹ 160000/ as a new car.. Can you believe?
We still have the first Nano, its due for renewal of registration, but we didnt do proper services,so it took its toll.. Now spent some money.,.... My memories was not great.. And I always felt shame... Now I will keep it
Please keep the car, it's a treasure. We still regret our decision to give it in exchange for some loyalty bonus and ₹ 45000/. It's a big big mistake on our part to sell our beautiful Nano
I sill remember Ratan Tata's line after they got established in Sanand, "There's a Good M and there's a Bad M". That's the closest he got to saying his heart out, how he felt about the whole scenario.
Tata's family will now be synonymous with only Mr Hon. Ratan Tata sir🙏. An epitome of simplicity, humanity and humility. Grateful is a small word for him from Indians. Gifted to have him with us, amongst us and for us. 🙏🙏

A Tata Nano RTN - a modern updated generation of the Nano will be a fitting tribute to the great man. The Tata Nano was a great story but unfortunate in outcome. I think cities like Pune need great smaller cars not big SUVs with 1-2 passengers in them. As they announced the closure of Tata Nano, despite all the ridicule I got perhaps one of the last ones to roll off the assembly line. With all its flaws (and it has many) it compensates as a practical daily driver. I have grown fond of it over time.
I have a E2O despite all its quirks I think beats everything I throw at it, MG comet is another promising car but limited by price. I bought my E2O plus for 1L used at 12K odo, its shame Mahindra pulled the plug on it.
Rip ratan tata. As an EV enthusiast first EV i drove was tata(not really but ) I do have a soft corner for him now. they must showcase ratans favourite cars like a tribute for him. Though he owned partially or whatever Taj, Tetley, TCS etc etc.
Thank you for this. Two of my most cherished topics - cars my passion. And Ratan tata my hero and role model. I think Sir RNT will be watching from heaven with a smile on his face. He is irreplaceable.
Hormazd Sorabjee in his tribute to Mr Tata on Autocar mentioned that Ford treating Mr Tata badly is a completely false story. He seemed to know Mr Tata personally. So much for being an automotive historian. Check your facts.
No one seems to remember, but the biggest challenge Ratan Tata faced was the strike at TELCO Poona called by Union Leader Rajan Nair almost immediately after he took over. He thought he would be able to walk over RT but he underestimated him badly. When it looked like things would take a violent turn, RT warned the then CM of Maharashtra that he would be forced to move out of the state. (He proved this later in Bengal). Thankfully things were sorted out, Telco became Tata Motors and Rajan Nair ended up in the dust bin of history.
@@virafdastoor399 Rajan Nair, that crook could not submit the Statement of Accounts of the Union. If RNT had submitted to him, the Pune-Chinchwad belt would have gone like "Waste Bengal"
Couldn't think we could've had someone better than Adil to share his experience with Mr. Tata. Phenomenal and Priceless is how I sum up this episode and Mr. Tata.
A WONDERFUL COVERAGE OF SHRI RATAN TATA SIR'S AUTOMOBILE VENTURES. VERY GREAT ADVENTURES IN A VALID FIELD THAT HAS BROUGHT GOOD RETURNS IN SHORT-TERM GAINS, AS WELL AS TURNING TATA MOTORS, A WORLD LEADER IN THE FIELD OF AUTOMOBILES.
Loved the insights from Mr. Adil and Evo India. He has so much to talk about Mr. Ratan Tata that lead to Adil not able to formulate/communicate the story in this video. Great man Rata Tata Ji and the influence he had on all of us. WOW
Thank you sirish for nice podcast 😊 proud owner of nexon ev max 😊 Hats off to the work of the legend Sir Ratan Tata who gave indian people nice products in indian from salts to cars 😊ratan sir u will be remembered in india as great human being true leader😊 true nation lover 😊we miss ur presence 😢rest in peace Ratan tata sir😢
Just completed watching both autocar India and evo India podcast about rathan tata sir. Still in the confusion about what happened b/w Ford and Tata both of them have a different story to tell
I just came from the Autocar video. For context, Hormazd Sorabjee claims that the story about Ford being disrespectful towards Ratan Tata during talks to buy JLR off them is bogus, and that instead, they mostly talked about sports.
When the jlr acquisition was taking place TCS management staff were quite pissed off, they stated that the profits generated by TCS are getting diverted by Tata son's for this acquisition which had a 50/50 chance of success.
Tata should make a proper safari taller longer to accomodate a better 3rd row & usable boot space with better engine & 4×4. Call it safari R. ( r for ratan). Also tata should make a electric nano boxy like mg comet but a lil longer to have 4 doors & a usable boot. That nano should be ergonomicly built to be spacious & practical inside with modern luxurious interior at not more than 7 8 lakhs as nano was ratans vision the new nano should be a game changer in electric vehicle market & small hatchback market so that people looking for the likes of swift & i10 are influenced by it. That is the way tata motors can send of ratan & pay homage to his legacy
I have heard that there is a hotel where Telco or tata motors is PCMC near Pune ,who have Ratan Tatas photo outside and flat 25percent discount to tata employees..😅
There was an insight I think we missed in this discussion Tatas killed it in the first wave of cabbies, with the Indica. But the next wave was a huge miss, where Marutis took over with Dezire, WagonR. Was it something strategic or some key product decisions missed?
Podcast is very good except the Ford saga. Even Ford issued the statement that whatever circulating in social media about Bill Ford and rtn is fake. Hope @evo india will ensure better fact check for future podcasts.
You have not said anything about Tata Ace. At one time every Ace produced sold like hot cakes. Later a very modern plant was put at Dharwad for a smaller Ace (Iris) which was not a success because it was not marketed properly. It was a good replacement for 3 wheeler auto rickshaws. Of course Dharwad plants for bus, earth movers and also Iris was delayed as Mr Tata was very much upset with a particular minister of Karnataka.
Safari and Harrier platform is derived from Landrover. My opinion on this topic is, all brands have their price limit. People wouldn't spend for a Tata car over a certain price. This is my reading from talking to a few people. But of course things can change.

Bad M and a good M . Referring Mamata Banerjee to Modi. For nano plant.

Started with the Vista in 2010, then gifted a Nano to my dad. Solt the vista in 2018 for a Tigor AMT.

IT SEEMS THAT TATA MOTORS IS WHAT HAS BROUGHT THE TATA GROUP AS THE UNDISPUTED INDUSTRIAL GROUP OF THE WORLD
Sirish, very good telecast.

This conversation is interesting but all over the place. story lining should be done so that it’s seems sequential ans coherent
10:51 I have this doubt, and I think about it at least once a week-why? Why? Whyyyyyy? And I want that gangster to be reborn.

Adil Jal was quite a sub standard motor journalist. Not a patch on Hormuzd.

Auto car video said no insult at ford company
Let's hope that the businessmen of India say "tata" to the "lala" & "bania" culture.
Businessmen hardly turn to become industrialists.
End of an Era, A true Legend..!!!
A legend who inspired many!

There is only so much we can cover in a limited time :)
my uncle had a tata nano my mama had a indica it was a limousine
OF COURSE T.C.S. IS AT THE HELM OF TATA GROUP OF COMPANIES.
If tata owns jaguar land rover, why can't we have the Tata version of Defender in india ?
That could well be the new gen Sumo
