This makes me wonder how a movie made entirely using Source Filmmaker might do in a real life movie theatre. Like, Valve decides to make a movie using nothing but Source Filmmaker (maybe using one of their IPs or creating a new one) and ships it to the box office. I can only imagine how some people might react.
TBH, SFM isn't the issue because it's SFM - it has more to do with the toolset being VERY unfriendly towards big project formats, like a feature film. The render/visual strength of SFM is actually not the issue either, it's moreso the fact that SFM tries to be an all-in-one, whereas a movie production uses multiple programs in a well constructed pipeline. SFM just doesn't have a great place in a pipeline required for a movie! That being said, it's no way impossible. Very possible actually, and I think with enough time n dedication a handful of animators and mappers could make a feature length movie to this quality standard easily!
@@keanaphobia I think we all waited for the community to stand up and say „Hey! We can do this too!“, because just recently Fortress Films DID announce they‘re shipping out Yemenis Blue to Hollywood.

Take on your spotify or whatever and search tf2 theme, set the video to 0:26 and mute the video, then start the tf2 theme and at the same time start the video, its a masterpiece
Please make this into an actual movie, even if it’s only like 30 minutes. Just for a trailer that isn’t official or anything, makes me hyped for what could be an awesome fan made movie.
@@v8y2m Would be nice, but with Winglet working on his own project, I doubt it, especially if it is as long as Live and let Spy, and who knows about Hoovy Tube.

I still find this whole trailer to be extremely underrated! And how TF2 and its comics had so much potential for a batshit wild story as an animated series too! This trailer proves it could work, the cinematography, the lighting (a huge fan of lighting), action sequences and pacing are all well made! Each shot feels like it has its own plot and story to it.
I don't know how many times I watched this but every time I come across this video when i search tf2. I watched it more than twice to admire every single frame. This is just utterly beautiful
I love that from about 1:05, there are shots of Spy and Scout (even Pyro and Engi) raiding the BLU base and stealing their intel, as a reference to an unused Meet the Team video! This slapped!! It’s amazing that people using SFM are making higher quality stuff than big companies! Love when Scout was running towards the base on 2Fort, he’s putting a lot of swing in his arms! this. this is beautiful. i gotta say better than half the tf2 animations i usually see. saved, saved and saved. will watch again, many many times. respect to you if you ever do decide to make the real thing, cuz that seems like it would take a lot of time, but would be 100% worth it. this is really impressive for something that wasn't made by a big team of professionals. also, impressed by how you got each character's personality right somehow. idk how, but they all just seem so in place and portrayed really well even tho this is literally just a two minutes long video with random scenes and no dialogue. if you decided to make a movie i'm sure the community would do their best to help out since it seems we have a lot of creative people here so it would hopefuly be easy to find voice actors and maybe even other animators willing to help out.
