Skateboarding needs more docs like this.
"Two hundred years of american technology has unwittingly created a massive cement playground of unlimited potential but it was the minds of 11 year olds that could see that potential." Craig Stecyk 1975.
Humans have been creating forms of art for well over 30,000 years. We have been making agriculture for only a little over 10,000 years. Somehow... it was more important to create superfluous pretty things than to figure out how to regularly feed ourselves.
wow its almost like having forms of creativity and putting art into the world is as much of a human thing to do as eating and breathing. we want to spread love and be happy :-)
Thank You, Monk, thank you Subterra!!!!

23mins of pure passion
The first 3-4 minutes of this was BS.
19 minutes of Pure Passion,...GNAR
Well done. Thank you.
Carbondale! That was the first time I lived in a town with a concrete skatepark. It does so much for a community to have someplace for kids to congregate.
that switch line though
R.I.P. Monk. One of the coolest dudes I ever met. I used to buy boards from Randy Hanford and his family when we were kids! Bike works was about a mile from here. And the Q! FUCK YEAH!!!
I remember Tom Peha, he had a Pepsi halfpipe down the street from Dimmitt. If I'm not mistaken he skated the roof of the Kingdome before it was imploded. Great and important video.
Rest easy my friend!
Thank you 🙏🏼
"So the general contractors don't tell us what to ride" Epic words

All a skater can hope for is to have the body of 20 year old for eternity in the afterlife. Rip in Peace

rad!
the best people to ever live are concrete finishers who skatepark! that’s a fucking fact
YO DUDES FOR REAL THE GRINDLINE CREW (KEVIN LANCE) KNOWS HOW TO BUILD CONCRETE SKATEPARKS. THEY BUILD NORTH HOUSTON SKATEPARK (SPRING SKATEPARK) AND ITS THE RADDEST PLACE TO RIDE DUDES!! 79,000 SQUARE FEET OF SKATE SURFACE. THOSE DUDES RIP HARD!!
I saw several nice shots of Lee and Joe Jamail Skatepark in downtown Houston as well.
Excellent work to everybody involved. As an engineer, the quality of both Houston parks is readily apparent. Just wish they allowed bikes in as well.
If you try to forget for a second that you're a skater and look at these concrete constructions from the eyes of a normal person - Try to Tell me that they don't all look like some Alien Facilities !
Fuck, man. RIP Monk
how did he die?
Here’s the thing I love grindline parks and over the years they have gotten better about listening to all the skaters in the communities they serve but those early years they really didn’t do street or plaza type parks and a lot of kids wanted those things as they weren’t able to skate the street spots in their towns or the towns just really didn’t have any of that infrastructure, and the stuff they were building was gnarly and not a skill level most kids were at.
dream job
do u have any idea how hard of work that is
yeah i like that shit. i want to build more
