  • Witchy duck woman and what would have been a killer wave two of figures on this MIA 80s Ladies, featuring Morgana Macawber from Disney's Darkwing Duck!
Also be on the lookout for a split-second cameo by my one-eyed dog!

Its sad we didn't get regular size figures of Morgana. I hope Super 7 or NECA will make figures of Darkwing Duck characters we didn't get 30 years ago from Playmates.

I used to be on the "Super7 can do it!" camp but the past six months have turned me around to Mondo, RamenToys, Fresh Monkey Fiction... all these super small businesses with the gumption to do this.

It feels like other than Star Wars and Marvel (which have Lucasfilm & Marvel groups in the mix) Disney pulls it's licenses regularly and moves them from company to company. Like their Princess line is at Mattel, then it's not for a year or two, then it's back at Mattel, then it's not for a year or two, and then it is. And while that works for their evergreen concepts like Mickey, Princesses, and their own characters -- stuff like Duck Tales, Darkwing Duck, Tailspin, etc suffer from that now you have it now you don't contract b.s. because there are such limited windows for these smaller less evergreen properties and the nostalgia that fuels them. Which is why it is OK in this case to blame Disney for ruining our childhoods and assuring we'll never have a Morgana. Jerks.

Yeah even this last DuckTales cartoon had a very late but pretty nice toyline from a company no one's heard of. BUT as fast as they hit stores, they were gone even quicker.

Considering at the time the rebooted DuckTales only got a single wave of figures (I know a second wave was developed, but Disney pulled the license from the manufacturer before they could be released), it is sadly hard to see much of a chance of any new figures based on the old 80s/90s cartoons being developed. I mean if you don't even produce toys for your current shows, how likely are you to produce toys for your legacy ones?

There's also understanding the mind of the Disney fan. Super7 really struggled to figure out what they wanted and they seem more experience-driven than picking up artifacts. But then, that could also depend on what movie/show. To coin a phrase, it's an odd duck.
